I posted this in another thread, but didn't see where it fitted, but thanks for taking the plunge on a new thread :D.

The CB is an interesting one, but it's almost a tad moot, now we've signed AWB and been strongly linked to Longstaff :nervous:

Nah. I tried to watch that but this 'here is a load of out of context stats, often at a lower level' approach does very little for me

Reminds me of the NFL fans who prefer to watch PFF spreadsheets than actual games

NHL is even worse imo. Super-annoying when you watch a game and like a player, only to have someone who doesn't really watch games say "my spreadsheet says no".

Some people watch Moneyball and think it could be applied to football, pure and simple.
Stats don't tell the whole truth in any sport, but in football I think it's even harder to evaluate players looking at a spreadsheet.
I had watched this video before and thought the name should've been "hipster signings that no top club is considering".
It's easy to look at stats and say "this player is the right choice", without looking at where he plays, who his teammates are, what is the role he plays on a given system, what his personality's like, how much room for improvement he has and a lot more factors.
Tifo is good but if they keep going down this road I'll pass. We got enough FM kids thinking they're specialists already.

Sangare will be a smart signing. No idea about other signings.

Surely most of these players would cost pennies? Just get rid of the crap such as Rojo/Darmian and replace them with these players in addition to more established targets.

Grillistch is Carrick v2, but left footed and slightly more mobile. Just check him on youtube and you will see the similarities. Also played under Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim.

A midfield trio of Pogba, Sangare and Grillitsch(Spielfuhrer) would be interesting and could work. Ideally Ndombele instead of Sangare, but he is off to Tottenham.

Yeah, I’m not really usually interested in these things but I watched it and found it fascinating at first. Then I wondered if I’d slipped a bit into a parallel universe. It went a bit mad.

I thought that was an interesting, educated discussion. Not sure I agree with everything they said. Amazed by how knowledgeable they are. Though I don't quite understand why they are so confident that Harry Maguire would be an improvement, given we appear to be changing to a high press, a system that he hasn't played, as far as I'm aware. There is also the possibility that some of our current CBs might actually be decent in the new system. I'd be tempted to deploy the system for a season, then buy once you know where the holes are.

They were confused that Sean Longstaff is a target. Unethusiastic about Bruno Fernandes. Like Wan Bissaka a lot.

Good to see different names at least, though I dont personally go for the stat thing as so many variables for the stats. Must admit only seen a couple of those players and not heard of most of them.

Konate is the only one seen regularly and was surprised to see them saying he is limited on the ball as I think he is good on the ball, certainly better than anybody we have in the back four at the moment.

I feel vindicated. I suggested Konate many weeks ago. I'm worried about United buying Maguire: too error prone, not speedy, unused to playing in team who play a high-press.

Just to cut my ego down to size I almost suggested Billing (Huddersfield) as a DCM for United. He's an aerial threat, can tackle, intercept, block. We wants out of Huddersfield & relegated clubs can't charge more than about £10m per player. Having watched him a bit, I see he's not MUQ; but is Matic?
