This makes less sense than Rabiot with Bruno & Eriksen in the team.

Ship has sailed for me.

Should have signed him when we were first linked to him, after Bryan Robson retired.

Good question but it looks like we’re gonna find out. Either way I reckon a shit version of Rabiot is still probably an upgrade on McTominay.
That’s not a good benchmark. We ve been signing players who are an “upgrade” on what we have. That’s why we are in a position with shit players on high wages. We need players who can actually improve our squad and will be a difference maker.

Their prices have dropped*

* Just in case this is a Caf pub quiz
Not asking about their prices. I'm asking about whether SMS, who was seen as one of the biggest potential talents in football at the time, has continued to progress or if his career stalled.

That’s the same as Fernandes and Eriksen?
Yeah, was a bit sarcastic. Don’t see SMS working in a midfield two with Fernandes ahead of him. He’s got midfield three with licence to roam vibes over him

Attacking 8 who loves to get forward and does his best work in the final third. Would be a really smart signing when we already have Fernandes and Eriksen in the team.
Exactly what I was thinking. How does this make sense haha

I reckon this is a complete non starter. Either his agent trying to get a move or us releasing news to show that we are actually working on transfers, just to appease the fans. Makes very little sense to spend £50m on a player whose skillset we don't really need, when we have eriksen for that role and clearly need other positions filling. Rabiot makes more sense.

It's normally safe to assume that people rummaging through the bargain bin in poundland aren't millionaires.
I think it's more logical to think we've been stupid enough to have our summer budget dictated by agreeing a high fee and high wage deal for FDJ that isn't going to happen, and continue to do so.

Looks a totally legit link. And Eriksen makes more sense at the 10 or on the wing as things stand.

Just watched that video and I'm sold. Doesn't look too bad, can actually play through balls( :eek: ) and doesn't shit himself to bed when he has the ball at his feet. Get him in and bin off McT so that we never see his bumbling ass again. Looks more of a box to box? Can definitely play alongside Bruno/Eriksen for me.

Eriksen = Mata
SMS = Pogba
Rabiot = Matic
Arnie = Cavani.

Our squad replacements right there

I saw a report that Ten Haag thinks we need more players who can play with their back to goal, which I personally think is on the money. Not watched this guy for years but remember thinking back in the day he was like Fellaini with his chest control and ability to hold off men.

If there’s any truth to this, he surely slots into the role McTominay tried to play yesterday, breaking into the box regularly.

Just go for it. Would finally put enough pressure on Bruno to pull his finger out. Would allow us to finally bench him too when he keeps playing like shit

Never seen this guy play. Before I check YouTube has anyone got info on what kind of player he is?

If you take Pogba and cross him with Fellaini (as a 10), you get this guy. He puts in a bit more of a shift defensively compared to Pogba, but is not as skilled or creative. However, he gets into the box in good positions regularly and is a goal threat.

Trying to make sense of it, I guess he goes straight in the double pivot and partners Rabiot/Fred.

Yea, goes straight into the McT position I think. Similar kind of frame too actually but looks far better technically.

He's class, but I'm biased. Would definitely prefer him over Rabiot though and would gladly see them pay double or triple for him, because this FDJ saga is insanely tiresome.

Fantastic player, never injured and averages 10 goals a season. There's only room for 1 of eriksen or bruno regardless, unless there are occasions where eriksen plays to the right.

Big Bruno fan but rabiot, savic, eriksen (Bruno) is an altogether improved trio in terms of keeping the ball and influencing the gam.

I would say yes. Under Sarri he changed from the pogba-esque Hollywood player who drifted in and out of games to a functional and tidier central midfielder.

We were ready to spend 85m on FDJ all summer
Where is this us having no money thing coming from?
Were we though? All summer it was quoted that we had maybe £120m to spend. We spent all summer chasing a target who has no intention of joining us... Seems like exactly the sort of thing the owners would do to make it look like they tried.

In the meantime we spent about £80m and now we're looking at players around £30m for both (Rabiot and Arnautovic) leaving us with a spend of around £110m with £10m to play with if they demand a bit more.

So £120m spend rough total. Just as we were told all along.

If we spend much more than this then I'll happily admit that I was wrong.

Utd: Hey Barca, look at us, we are going to buy another player
Barca: ah no, we'll pay De Jong his owed wages, we need the money
