There's no scenario that Lacey plays and he won't face pressure. He can't avoid pressure, and we shouldm't actively be sabotaging his experience to pressure situations. Everyone knows, fans, players and coaches alike, that Lacey isn't expected to come on and win games for us, so, he's not going to crumble under some pressure imposed on him. The expectations are only go out there and play with a bit of freedom. Win, lose or draw, it won't matter and fans aren't going to get at him for it.
Here's the truth; if you wait for ideal scenarios to give Lacey competitive minutes, he won't get any. Why? Because there are no ideal scenarios at United anymore. We don't comfortably get into a position to bring kids on these days.
You either play them when you can in competitive games you think they'll have a chance in, or you just leave them in the reserves, forget about them and then make excuses why they join another club and do well.
