Should every international team be allowed an honorary citizen wildcard pick?

In order to improve international football I nominate a rule change where every international team before a major competition is entered into a draft round where they are allowed to pick one player who isn’t of their nationality to become an honorary citizen and improve their side.

Which team can you improve the most with one player from another side?

I nominate Germany to have Lewandowski.

Why would Lewandowski go to Germany willingly instead of playing for his own country?

I say we put a bit of a twist on it. I nominate Maguire for Spain.

That rule means that teams with genuine world class players are almost guaranteed to be worse?

For the teams in this WC I nominate Wales to have David De Gea, Varane, Martinez, Dalot, Shaw, Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno, Antony, Rashford, Martial, Garnacho, Sancho in the squad :drool::drool:

Oh ... With EtH as Manager

Why limit to one when you could just go crazy and pick as many as you want?

they lose neymar but gain haaland
And Norway(if they are in the competition)? The last team to pick will be screwed and some teams will be screwed no matter where they pick, you could mitigate it a little bit by having two rounds where you invert the picking order.

I propose a new rule. Anyone in the top 25 international rankings only get one pick. The next 25 receive 2 and so forth.

order would be key. i guess you could have it like a draft, the rubbish teams get the top picks. not sure if Haaland and De Bruyne would be happy playing for Ghana and Saudi Arabia though

You can only pick players who haven't qualified for the world cup and teams get a pick in order of lowest ranked first might work...or it's still bat shit crazy.

Make it so that the bottom ranked team gets first pick, and the top ranked team the last, like the NFL draft.

If their new team wins, they get an honorary trophy for their country too

Be cool to see Halaand, Osimhen, Salah etc at some of the lower teams
