Should we consider selling Pogba?

For a long time I held out hope thinking that Pogba would have the intelligence to be able to play that deeper role effectively. That he'd learn how to better apply himself to defensive situations and work hard at that part of the game. However, there's a noticeable trend from teams to double up or even triple up on Wan Bissaka, and I think this is because they know that our right sided attacker will not come all the way back, and that Pogba won't help cover his side of the pitch.

We were once opposed to losing him, but Bruno has stolen his importance from a creative point of view in our midfield. In order to build a midfield that properly supplements Bruno, should we consider selling Pogba?

I don't really know what's his best position and who is that guy who can fully 'unlock' him.

No.

Even if we did, nobody would cough up the money this summer. Rather than sell him way below value, just keep him. Our squad has a lack of quality anyway. We need to add to it.

There are way bigger issues in this squad than Pogba and that should be tackled first. LB can't stay fit, no quality cover. RB not that good, no quality cover. New CB needed, GK not the best anymore. Big hole at RW, Rashford struggling (injury?). Coaching/manager good enough?

He will either sign an extension or get sold at some point in the future. So his situation is easy to solve and will be at some point.

I think his best position is on the left in a mid of more advanced role, let's say a pushed up number 8.
Also, he's very good at going into the box and shooting from range, something he can't really do as a DM.

I don't think he can be 'unlocked' anymore in that deeper role. Bruno plays so high up the pitch that Pogba needs other qualities now in his role.

Funnily enough, Bruno has these qualities but I think his creative and goalscoring contributions outweigh the benefits of swapping him and Pogba.

I would hesitate to judge anyone off of this weird season, its been longer than a year and there's a ton of mental fatigue to go along with the physical fatigue owing to a lack of squad depth.

Even with Bruno, Pogba is essential. Without one of them, the other would get marked out of the game and the side would have far less creativity. In a side with Rashford having fresher legs and a proper right sided forward making constant runs in behind the opposing defense, Pobga would be pinging long passes for fun.

He does need one strong healthy and consistent season to make his mark but I'd bet on the quality.

Yes lets sell him. Lets also put in a road map to sell Bruno, Martial, Rashford and Greenwood too.

He's a big name player, which you obviously love. But his effectiveness and suitability to the role he's playing is just not there and is actually causing us problems. What Sevilla and other teams have been doing down our right hand side since Bruno arrived is because of Pogba in part. I'm sorry if you can't see that. This is a genuine question and one that will be asked more and more over the next couple of years if he were to stay.

He's going to sign a new contract and stay for years. We need to add quality not sell it.

No we just need to sign a DM specialist to play with Bruno & Pogba

No, Pogba is one of the most complete midfielders in Europe, once an elite DM, and a top left footed CB is next to Maguire it'll allow Pogba to drive forward more.

Pogba is essential.

You can't help but feel that we need more from him in the center of mid. Of late, there were no penetrating runs, no dashes in the box, not enough quality long range shooting and hardly any key passes. Unfortunately, he also has that Fred like quality of losing the ball in pivotal areas. Overall, it doesn't seem like he is ever dominating a game like players in his position and quality should.

There are better options for us out there than Pogba.
We have many more problem positions in the side than the one Pogba is playing, also what happens to our creativity if/when Bruno gets injured.

If any club is offering 80-100m CASH for Pogba, then yes should consider.

If any club is offering deadwood to trade, sorry no.

But Pogba is not the root of that problem. The root of that problem is that Wan Bissaka and Lindelof are average defenders and is the most obvious weakness for the opposition to exploit. Beyond that, its the manager's responsibility to plug that defensive hole, and the solution is certainly not in selling Pogba.

Yeah, but if the manager doesn't want to play 433 then that's a problem. He is wasted playing deep. We always get hounded in the midfield.

If we play the city system with a proper DM and Pogba and Bruno playing as CAMs then we might see him prosper.

This thread would likely not exist if Rashford scores from the superb pass from Pogba at the stroke of half time.

People watched yesterday's game and came to the conclusion that we should sell Pogba?

Only problem is that De Bruyne and Silva also worked like dogs off the ball, much like Xavi and Iniesta. Will Pogba do that?

He's got quality, I'm not denying that. But, for the role he's now playing, does he have the right qualities? That's what I'm asking. I'm talking defensive contributions mainly.
He's fine as part of a midfield 3.

It's based on what I've seen since Bruno came in. Before we had McTominay and Fred in front of our defence with Pogba further forward. At this time Wan Bissaka wasn't as exploited down his side and was getting rave reviews. Since we have brought Pogba into that deeper role, his side is getting exploited a lot and his attacking contribution is lessened. He's not even got the ability of a Modric or Scholes to dictate the tempo of the game.

No. Just no.

Plus no one will be able to pay what we deserve to get or be able to offer him the salary he wants too right now. Maybe 1 or the other a team can do, but not both.

Pogba worked his socks off when we had that run in after Mou was sacked.

Did I say we should sell him? No, so wind your neck in.
OP: "Should we consider selling Pogba?"
You: "There are better options for us out there than Pogba."

So yeah, that's exactly what you meant sunshine.

Has he ever dominated a game for us? Just once? I struggle to remember ever thining "yeah, Pogba totally ran that game".
