Should we try Bruno in the right wide forward position?

id like to see in the next match a 4-2-2-2 with a bit of fluidity in the front 4

----------------------Back 4-----------------------
------------------Fred-------Matic---------------
---------------Bruno-----------VDB--------------
--------Greenwood---------Rashford-------

With Martial/Cavani rotating at the front. Pogba and McTominay rotating in the middle

Telles getting space to get forward

What's with all these threads suggesting putting round pegs in square holes? Even after admitting full knowledge of the shape of both peg and hole???

I think bruno absolutely should be given a go on the right. He has played there several times before. Play VDB at AM and with there great movement they will interchange alot. He whips in the best crosses. It could possibly unleash him a little more too.

Forget about playing three forwards. This is a major problem. We need to play 4 midfield players and only two up front and them playing closer to each other.

Funny how Rashford is playing in everyone’s formation. He’s been terrible since the return from lockdown. If anything Bruno should be taking his place and allowing VdB to play centrally. Ole mentioned after the Brighton game that VdB could also play on the left so that’s an option too. Rashford needs to be dropped for a few games.

We don't really have a good natural wingers so why not just try 3-5-2 with wingbacks or play a 4-4-2 diamond/4-3-1-2?

Two up top means we accommodate Rashford/Martial/Greenwood/Cavani at the forward positions
Playing 3 at the back allows us a more to be more defensive and pushes Telles in a more attacking position (yes I know AWB is not great going forward)
Or we can play a diamond in midfield... or a flat 3 with Bruno as a #10

It's weird idea. Forcing one of our best player playing out of position. We might should just play Pogba on the right instead of Bruno.

I anticipate that this will be a popular thread but we have the Pogba conundrum with both of them in the middle of the park being too porous defensively. It's becoming more common for number 10s like Grealish and James to be put out wide, although he's a different type of 10 to them. His high turnover rate won't be as much of an issue out wide and he can still play to his strengths of linking round the box, crossing, taking set-piece and taking penalties. The other obvious bonus is playing Pogba further up and with less defensive responsibility along with addressing the hole on the right wing.

Something like

---------Fred--------Matic--------
Bruno----Pogba-----Rashford
---------------Marital----------------
bruno currently united’s best player. Why change his position? Need to change players around him. Players who are not performing. Leave bruno alone!

That makes zero sense and would end in disaster.

Once again showcased how he can occupy that wider position beautifully with VDB in the side.

Since we're insisting on using 4231, no.
Bruno is the only one that can play that #10 role at the right level.

Rather we try Pogba or VDB at right wide forward instead.
The former hinders us and is hindered when played deeper, while the latter is a bench warmer so it's a waste of his talent.

Bruno does not have to be at number 10 to be our "number 10" aka playmaker. And VDB is very effective when on the pitch and is very suited to the AMC role. BUT its moot as Burno and VDB would be seen moving and orving all over the pitch. This will create wide space for rashford speed too.

No more changes to accommodate Pogba. What kind of 'worldclass' player can only play in one particular setup where everyone around him needs to cater to his mythical traits?

Pogba as an impact sub or when we sit deep hitting on the counter. Thats it for now.

For the midfield starters its a mixture of Mctom/Fred/DVB/Bruno/Mata. This gives us industry, creativity and chemistry for most opponents. And we have our benches loaded to switch things up when needed.

Matic again only in the right circunstances.

Not sure if Ole realised it at the time but Bruno has effectively taken Pogba's spot in the first team long term. Tough shit really.

This formation may suit us really well because Bruno and VDB have very good workrate allowing us to have alot of midfield control.

I want us to try this formation out, see how it works.

He'd work really well on the left but not so much the right, he'd be a complete waste there.

Pogba would be more effective in that position, but i'd still rather play Greenwood or Mata.

Has moving Bruno to the right, during the second half, ever actually worked? Like ever? Just take one of him or Eriksen off if we need to bring on another midfielder, and keep two wingers on the pitch.
