Sign petition against Sports betting sponsorship of Manchester United

We've had betting companies sponsor us before for years, why are we bothered now that it's on a training kit?

At the risk of getting piled on by the morality police, while it’s a shame we’ve had to resort to this due to our finances - how does it help to get it removed?

All of these companies are bad in all honesty, so we're just nitpicking at this point.

We think INEOS is some saint of a company? I'd love to know all the environmental damage they've done...

While I'd prefer the club hadn't gone down this route, i's already done so a petition is absolutely pointless

We've benefited from PL clubs being banned from using betting sponsors on their matchday kits and signing the biggest training kit sponsorship on record.

I'm not a fan of of betting myself and I think it's a good thing to see its advertisment controlled more, but the deal helps us financially. Move past it. There are more concerning issues which United fans should be annoyed by.

How dare they taint the good name of Manchester United.

Jokes aside, we’re well beyond making a moral standpoint against this. Soul went years ago.

We have had betting sponsors since I started to go to games as a kid, not suddenly outraged now

Why shouldn't we elect a fascist moron to the most powerful position on earth, there's plenty of other wrong things to worry about. This type of argument is, frankly, moronic.

Look, I get it. We're watching clubs breaking rules constantly and seemingly getting away with it. While we've been lumbered with a family of leeches sucking the club dry. We could really do with an injection of cash which is within the rules.

There are certainly worse things that go on in the world. But Manchester United should still aim for better than to promote betting to its supporters and wider public. Many of whom are kids or may struggle with gambling addiction. The only reason these companies are prepared to and are able to offer so much is because advertising brings them legitimacy and massive profits. They are also leeches but on society as a whole. Preying on the vulnerable and desperate with no qualms about the damage they cause.

Hahaha we’ve had Gambling sponsors for as long as I can remember, why was no one outraged then?

We’ve also got Beer Sponsors.

We have had several sponsorship deals with betting companies

As others have said we’ve had gambling sponsorships for years, don’t get the sudden outrage over this. That petition is completely and utterly pointless as well.

I wouldn't be shocked if we've had cigarette sponsorship too. I'm not sure that point is worth making for the 4th time in this thread though.

Do you think we should, as the biggest sports club in the country, be promoting gambling?

We've had loads of sponsorship deals with betting companies. Nonsense.

I disagree with this petition. There's nothing wrong with us being sponsored by a betting company.

No. Comes across a little virtue signalling. If you want to draw a line for what the club stands for fair enough, but I think that line should be drawn well ahead of betting sponsorships.

Well put, you get it.

Then there is sporting integrity also. It‘s too easy to influence events in a game, it‘s not just match fixing.

We’ve seen - and continue to see - advertising boards around side of the pitch promoting gambling companies, alcoholic products during games in a way that’s likely to be far more visibly prominent that a training sponsorship.
