Bailly was £30m?

I’d say him and if he can fulfil his potential then Martial. Pogba was great but the fee at the time was too much.

I’d say the worst Di Maria and Darmian.

Then you have a lot of average.

Best transfer - De Gea, well he was basically a RM player
Worst transfer - Depay
None of the players bought since SAF has been an absolute success, kind of depressing. Even Matic is looking very poor lately.

De Gea was one of SAF signings

Best I would say when fit Bailly
Worst. Take your pick. Depay, MGS, BFS, Darmian

POSITIVES:
Lukaku (One of the leagues best strikers)
Matic (Not many better DMs than him)
Pogba (Our best player. Period)
Bailly (A top class CB)
Zlatan (Last season)
Rojo (A good CB option)
Blind (Good utility player like O’Shea was)
Romero (Best backup GK in the world)
Mata (Been quality for us most of the time)
Fellaini (Hard working. Good plan B)

NEGATIVES:
Mkhitaryan
Martial
Depay
Schneiderlin
Darmian
Schweinstiger
Di Maria (Only because he left so soon)
Shaw
Herrera
Falcao (On paper, it was a brilliant signing)

Why did you add on 5m to Pogba and Lukaku's fees?

Best - Bailly definitely. Martial and Pogba at joint 2nd. Romero's up there too.
Worst- Depay, Falcao, Darmian. All useless.

Best and worst is too simplistic, in my opinion. I really can't think of any that have lived up to expectations.

We didn't get the Mata of 11/12
We didn't get the Schneirderlin of 12-14
We didn't get the di Maria of 13/14
Neither the Depay of 14/15
The Mkhi of 15/16

The same applies to a lot of our players. Maybe we've failed them or they've failed us. The last time we got the best out of a player we signed was RvP 12/13.

Herrera was POTY last year? And you say Zlatan is a positive based on last year?

Also Martial?

Zlatan was our real POTY. Herrera had a good season but the only reason he picked up that award was because Zlatan wasn’t in attendance. They thought he was finished at United.

How has Martial been a success exactly? He was rubbish last season and is barely doing any better this season aside from a few goals against tired opposition when we’re 3 or 4 goals up. Complete myth of a player.

Blind and Rojo positives but Martial and Herrera negatives... my word.

Worst: Darmian, Rojo and Schweinsteiger.

I'd be happy to reverse every transfer decision in/out LVG made. Losing Martial would be the only negative.

Based on fee and expectation it's easily Blind, Bailly and Romero.

Some of our better signings like Pogba and Martial were very overpriced at the time and as good as they've been, more is still expected of them.

Saying that, we've wasted a feck tonne of money on bang average players. Even more depressing when you consider most of the dross were paid over £100k pw.

I think you're right, no chance was Herrera the player of the year over Ibrahimovic. Take his goals out of last seasons team and I dread to think where we would've ended up.

Absolutely spot on inc DDG if we can keep him and Bailly. If we sold the rest tmw, it would be no lose.

Worst would be Falcao, but if you mean owning not loan then Depay. Best signing Matic. Bailey good value though.

Lukaku: 75 million - hit
Matic: 40million -hit
Lindelof: 32 million - against signing squad players when you have them a lot at that time so miss

Pogba: 89 million -hit
Mkhitaryan: miss but he won us europa league , we will get much money back so even
Bailly: 38 million -hit
Zlatan: Free -hit

Martial: 55 million - hit
Depay: 30 milllion - miss
Schneiderlein: 25 million -miss
Darmian: 16 million -miss
Romero: Free-hit
Schweinstiger: 8 million - huge miss

Di Maria: 67 million - miss( but got our money back)
Shaw: 30 million - miss
Herrera: 30 million - meh
Rojo: 16 million - hit ( for that money)
Blind: 16 million - meh

Mata: 40 milion -hit
Fellaini: 30 million -hit

best: Pogba/Martial/Matic

worst: Schweinsteiger/Schneiderlein

But people often miss how much money we got back from missed transfers. So it is positive thing.

Fellaini as a positive, while Herrera isn't? Our last year's POTY?

I mean I know it's trendy on the caf to cherish the former and despise the latter, but it's beyond ridiculous
This year Fellaini has been a mainstay when fit while Herrera has been a liability when ever he's played. I don't know what happened to Herrera I've never seen a players form drop so badly form one season to the next.

Di Maria is the worst. Hands down. Felliani is probably the best one over all.

Amazing going through the players and everyone is someone I'd replace if given the chance.

Di Maria is the worst. We prepped all preseason to play 352 and shipped out Nani because we didn’t need wingers. Then we sign Di Maria who 100% doesn’t fit in this style because he’s not a wingback, striker or a #10. We broke our transfer record for a player we didn’t know what to do with. Wish we still had him for Jose though.

Best is Bailly, Pogba and Martial. We got Bailly at a reasonable price all things considered abd he’s probably our best defender. Pogba is the best midfielder we could’ve got and at least gave us the perception that this is a good place to be. Martial we got at the right time. Had he stayed 1 more year at Monaco he’d probably cost a hell of a lot more.

Key words - this year. It have been but a few months. The thread isn't about that.

:lol::lol::lol:

Think about how ridiculous that statement would be >6 months ago. May as well have flipped the names.

The season when we signed Falcao, Di Maria, Herrera, Rojo, Blind and Shaw, I honestly thought we were going to take over the world....honestly! The last day signing of Falcao was the last time I went into serious muppet mode! If we had just hung on to some of our other players for one more year too, things could have been so different.

Look how that turned out. With that squad, it really was just baffling!

Best : Bailly, Pogba

Worst: Di Maria, Darmian, Memphis, Falcao, Schneidi and Schweini, Mata - (so like Nani/Berbatov, will produce a worldie and world class skill once in a while but overall not good enough), Herrera, Blind, Mkhitaryan
