Since Ole arrived, 6 senior players left permanently, and another 3 are on loan. We are minus 9 seniors, but Smalling will likely come back. So minus 8 next summer. 3 new seniors were bought. Greenwood and Williams are promoted (+2) as first teamers. McTominay, Pereira, Tuanzebe's (+3) promotion is confirmed and Fred moved from peripheral to central. We have too few senior players.

Players still need to leave: Jones (injury & error prone), Lingard (unproductive attacking player), Lee Grant (superfluous - we have many good young keepers who can do his 3rd choice goalie job). There are major doubts about: Bailly, Shaw, Matic, Mata. But I doubt any of them will leave before Jones and Lingard. We can't change 75% of the team at once!

I can't see 6 new senior level players before next season. The money to get them isn't here.

I think Ole needs to forget about expensive fixes (Bruno F, Maddision, etc.). Go for value, take a risk on inexperienced players and trust your scouts. Olmo, Soumare type signings preferred by me.

PS: Lee Grant only played 1 game since he's been here, and that could easily have been given to Kovar; who has the experience now (4 Johnson Paint Trophy matches on his CV). O'Hara, Kovar, Henderson or even Joel Pereira can replace Grant.

Henderson? He will be aiming for De Gea's spot.. Its is Courtouis vs Cech scenario..

Hoping Sanchez will leave is wishful thinking. He has a contract written by angels (not devils).

Why would you sell Romero? He's been an outstanding reserve keeper for years. LvG's best buy. Free in fact. You'll get nothing but pennies for him and he will be next to impossible to replace.

Sanchez leaving on a free, it's doable. Guy might want to go somewhere where he'll play.
I like Romero a lot, but I always assume he'll leave at some point, especially as we have Henderson out on loan. Question is how long will we loan out Henderson before we transition him to being our starter, do we get both him and De Gea here next season to fight it out, etc. Romero stays as long as only one of de gea/henderson are here. He won't stay to be 3rd choice.

Does a Lingaard extension count as a new signing? I mean, he scored a goal today - by now he’s the second coming of Jesus

Henderson might want the England keeper spot; he'll only get that playing in the PL week in, week out. If we keep Ge Gea, we may have to sell Henderson.

Apart from Romero, I agree with you on players who should leave. 11 out of 12.

Unfortunately I think our Outgoing players
Rojo
Smalling
Sanchez
Pogba

Should go but don’t
Lingard
Jones

In:
Rice (we will be ripped off to the tune of 70m)

Thus our expensive transition to total mediocrity will be complete.

I doubt Henderson's distribution is good enough. O'Hara is under-rated too.
De Gea's distribution certainly isn't good enough, so I don't necessarily see that working against Henderson if he's good enough in other areas. This isn't to say that we shouldn't have a keeper who's distribution is good, but, you know, it's what we've become accustomed to.

Well I said in the summer we needed 8/9 signings and 12 players out and was ridiculed unrealistic window, which may be true. We havent done badly with the outgoings but the incomings were woefully short. We actually signed a great player in Bissaka and a very good one in Maguire. James wasnt and for me never will be anywhere near the quality we needed on the wing.

I also said we should have sold Pogba, Mata, Matic, Rojo, Jones. I pretty much stick by that now, though ironically I would keep JOnes as a fith defender. Now, I would add Bailly and Lingard to the outgoings.

Incoming I would still like to see:
Another centre back, I have hopes for Tuanzabe when he come back but I just dont rate Lindelof as more than average. We still look weak defensively in many situations and still need a strong centre back partnership which we dont have. Our full back situation is now very good, another centre back and I think we have a good defence with the right signing.

THREE new midfielders. Our midfield needs rebuilding. McTominay has doen a good job, as he is the only one who has he has been hailed, overly so. Our midfield is both weak defensively and creatively, both parts need addressing.

Right winger - Always thought Rashfords best position is on the left and it is looking that way. NO balance on the right though, in fact our options are dreadful. Greenwood is a striker and Lingard, Mata, James come on hardly Ronaldo, Beckham, Kanchelskis.....we have been so poor there since ROnaldo left, Valencia had one good season on the right....how long ago is that now?

Striker - Martial for all his abililty is yet to convince consistently, he is 24 now. Greenwood looks a great long term option, but he isnt ready to be the main man yet. We need a cracking striker for competition or more so to be replacing Martial over the next season for me possibly

So if there is no January business we basically need in my opinion 6 new signings and 7 outgoings, 12 months on from last year, especially with a few great yougnsters coming through, we still need pretty much what we did last year, bare progress this season, SOlkjears 3year plan or whatever it is is far too slow so far.

Genuine question, is there any precedent for bringing in 6 first team players and it going really well? Other than Chelsea.

You must be having a laugh. Chilwell would cost £60m and is no better than Luke Shaw.

Sancho would not chose United over Chelsea given we will be without CL football.

Those targets are so unrealistic

Buendia, Grealish, Jimenez, Soumare

At first I gagged reading that. Then I realised that our full-strength 11 (feck Pogba, I don't count him - he's gone in the summer) isn't actually THAT bad. It's definitely capable of finishing in the top 3-4. It's our disgusting lack of depth and drop-off in quality that sickens me, and these four signings above would solve that problem and add serious competition for places.

Add into that a Pogba replacement (no, Grealish isn't that man for me) and POSSIBLY a CB, and we'd be looking very good.

But it aint happening.

I think it is possible for us to sign 6 players....from the Championship. :p

Some people want us to buy Sancho. The truth is that I don't think we are good enough to attract him. He'll either stay at Dortmund or move to another club, who have ambition.
He'll revisit us in a few years time, if/when we have ambition.

Take note that Jose wanted out due to lack of ambition and since then, we've downgraded from an elite level manager to a League One grade manager. We've also bought our first Championship signing (first time in a long time) and I can see us lowering standards in every department, in an effort to save money.

THat's the key part of this post, unfortunately.
Woodward is so incompetent, it begs belief. He spent recklessly in the previous years and is now on a money saving mission, which is left our squad thread bare.
And Matt Judge - how on Earth is this man still in charge of negotiating salaries when his poor negotiating skills have landed us with an inflated wage bill for poor quality players.

I am still waiting in anticipation to hear that Lingard (a player who belongs in the Championship), is going to be given a new contract with a bumper wage increase.

This isn't the 6 realistic transfer thread. I don't believe 6 transfers is at all realistic until covering the next 3 summer windows.

I honestly wouldn't put it past them. They'll use the Euros this summer as an excuse for only getting, say, 2 in.
Agreed if it is Manutd, any other club would easily get 6 done, probably even get 4 done before the window opens.

The way Ed Woodward operates is he starts looking at players on 1st June.

Romero has probably been our best signing since De Gea, and he was FREE..!?!?
Doesn't that speak volumes about our recruitment....

6 TOP players will cost 6 TOP prices. £300 million or more total? Glazers will not spend this money.
We will get around 200 million by selling Pogba/Smalling/Rojo/Jones/Perrera/Lingard etc. so for Glazers it will be only 100M around if they really sign off 6 players for 300M.

The fact that we have one world class player in this squad and we somehow managed to convince ourselves we need to sell him to fund buying other players is somewhat depressing.

How is this reasonable these days? Instead of trying to figure out how we can add and make sure our one true superstar can maximise his potential here we already gave up on him.

I get how there's an argument there about him giving up on us. That's how baldy we failed the player. Is it fixable?

Nobody because the club is a fustercluck right now, if nothing else what is the statement of intyent we are sending out to players we may actually want to sign in the summer, and players that we actually have at the club, we have one of the thinest, most inexperienced squads, wracked with injuries, 3rd richest club, record profits, what the feck is it worth if we cannot sign a teenager from the Championship and a want away midfielder from a mid table club in 2nd tier league..... can really see those world class players and prospects knocking down our doors

If player wants to leave then what are you going to do? Giving him a big fat jucy contract to makes him stay? That's the only realistic way, we did our best to keep him last summer and we managed to convince him to stay, but he has been hit injuries that we can't even maximise his potential this season.

I think this always be the case, player wants to leave him then let him go. Ronaldo is a prime example of it.

United need to move on about 15 players. Not just 6. We can get realistically get about 130M by selling the 6 you mentioned, not 200M.

You need to be realistic you've only signed 7 players in the last 5 windows, that's hardly remarkable.

Sanchez
Fred
Dalot
Grant
AWB
Maguire
James

In the same period, there are 10 first team players out, they are

Carrick
Blind
Fellaini
Herrera
Valencia
Lukaku
Sanchez
Smalling
Darmian
Young

That doesn't read well

I can't see you signing 6 more by the beginning of the 20/21 season - sounds as others are saying the club briefing again to try and quieten down fan discontent.

Seems like one of the six will be Alexis Sanchez coming back to prove everyone wrong.

Seriously starting to think Solskjaer is a double agent and is still keeping his lfc fan club member card in his pocket. This is pure trolling.
