4 CL’s, World Cup runner up, Ballon D’or and still bossing it at 36.

Huge part of the most successful CL team ever

The thread title needs a bit of work.

Modric is perfect. 36. Just incredible.

He’s closer to ‘greatest’ than he is to ‘best’ IMO.

Only have him behind Xavi and Iniesta.

He's great. Not as good as Xavi or Iniesta but don't think there's anyone else from around that generation who really compares.

Just behind Xavi not even by a lot.

Best cm of the last 30 years would go something like

Xavi
Modric/Pirlo.

Better than Xavi. All action midfielder. Can't think of anyone better than him.

I wouldn't say he's better than Xavi and Iniesta, those two are in a league of their own when compared to peers in their generation.

Obviously amongst the best in the next level of midfielders I have seen such as Scholes, Schweinsteiger, Keane, Kroos, Ballack, Lampard etc.

I still remember going to football training when I was about twelve and all of the lads saying he was about to sign for Newcastle. He went to Spurs and was dubbed a bit of a flop. When he showed what he was all about at Spurs and got his move to Madrid he was branded a flop (at first). You watch him tonight and it’s hard to believe this was ever the same player.

Right up there with Xavi and Iniesta in my eyes.

Xavi made a great impression because he played for prime Barca (he was the prime Barca, but I think all things considered Modric is the better player. More athletic and better defensively.
Very very close between them though.

He’s better than all those.

That second goal today was a piece of art.

Pulling for 40m with Neymar on the back, nutmegging through ball to a player not even over the halfway line.....following up, again nutmegging through 3 players for a perfect ball to Benzema....

Something you rarely see. Something out of a video game. Seems scripted almost.

He's better than Iniesta and a whisker away from being in the Xavi Zidane category. Will get there at this rate easily.

Insane longevity and very clutch

I don't know who is the best and honestly I don't care.

The only thing I know is he deserves a statue of his own in front of the Bernabeu just because what he did in the second goal tonight alone.

No team in particular
2nd just behind Xavi IMO and I've been of this opinion for some years now.

I think he’s better than Xavi or Iniesta but it’s all much of a muchness.

One of the best players of the modern era. I remember wanting us to sign him after Croatia beat England in I think 2007, then he went to
spurs to play on the wing.

Xavi is a level above him.

I think Iniesta is better too.

But Modric is incredible.

Probably one of the 10 best midfielders ever. Arguably top 5 CM ever.
