Tbf I didn’t read it..but played for a top club - so doesn’t meet the criteria set out on the OP.
I assumed that would be the case. Such a shame what happened to him.Tbf I didn’t read it..
Yeah after that leg break and going back into midfield he was a solid player but not as good as he could’ve been..I assumed that would be the case. Such a shame what happened to him.
Good player MellbergOlof Mellberg
Lescott left to form a great partnership with Kompany to win the league title in the same team that Gareth Barry played for.You could rename the thread 'Everton players not good enough to step up to top-4'
------------------------Howard
Hibbert Stubbs Lescott Baines
Osman Barry Arteta Pienaar
-------------Cahill Ferguson
SouthallFirst names that came to me were Barry and Milner.
Currently - JWP, Mee, Bardsley, Noble, Coleman, Zaha, Dann and Cresswell.
Historically - Gary Speed, Batty, Les Ferdinand, Hangeland, Dempsey, Arteta, Cahill, Southgate, Shawcross, Distin, Southall. Anyone else who played enough at Everton under Moyes.
Southall - ... doesn't belong anywhere near this topic (despite the fact that he became a walking pie shop later in his career)... top 2 or 3 keepers in the league for most of the 80s... won league titles and the ECWC not to mention footballer of the year in 85... the backbone of a dominant Everton team.Harsh on Speed, Batty and Ferdinand.
Edit: and Southall. Top keeper in his prime.
He was but he fits the OP description no? I'm not sure he was ever even considered for a title winning team but he was a very solid player able to lead a pretty decent Villa sidePetrov was a class player
Yeah I am sorry I didn’t read the OP, he was a quality player at Celtic think he could have easily played in a top team.He was but he fits the OP description no? I'm not sure he was ever even considered for a title winning team but he was a very solid player able to lead a pretty decent Villa side
Used to train chimbonda the cf gym I coach at, absolutely shocking movement mechanics but absolutely high on life every dayQuite a few players from the pre-Poch Spurs era:
Paul Robinson
Ledley King
Pascal Chimbonda
Jermaine Jenas
Tom Huddlestone
Jake Livermore
Aaron Lennon
Robbie Keane

He might have been a lot better in the 80s. But in the PL he was a solid performer for what was a mostly shit Everton team. He might have been a over weight and approaching the end but at that point that's what he was. So yeah, l'd say he was a solid but unspectacular Premier League player.Southall
That is enough RedCafe for one day.
I'd have Robbie Keane well above the solid tier.Quite a few players from the pre-Poch Spurs era:

Think your bar’s a bit high here. On Southgate both Manchester United and Deportivo tried to sign him from Villa.First names that came to me were Barry and Milner.
