I don't know what all this sudden clamour for Hudson Odoi is. He has played 10 Premier League games to date.

Given how far we look off the top teams, I think signings this Summer need to be more proven than he is.

We need experience at centre half. Toby would still be great despite being 30.

For the 100th time, the board buys the players recommended by the manager. Woodward is not a scout, he has no clue who Dalot is. The manager was busy requesting players at the end of their term which would have been ok like Matic but clubs were quoting high prices for players that are almost done. What do you all expect?
Do you really think Mourinho's summer wishlist was made up of just Dalot, Fred and Grant? And do you think he did not have substitute names for each target and position?

Yes, enough of the galactico chases. I'd like us to find prospects who turn out to be world class but that might be asking Ed to look past his nose which is a bit difficult for him.

Because he's an extremely promising young player who potentially wouldn't cost that much due to his contract situation and would fill a position we need to strengthen.

Do you need more reasons?

Sell Pogba, Lukaku, Lingard, Sanchez, Bailly to raise some funds, and all the dross for a bit more or just to get rid, (Valencia, Darmian, Rojo etc) and get in 9

Oblak................................only if DDG wants to leave
Meunière/Wan Bissaka.........either would be an ungrade and give good competition with Dalot
Koulibaly/de Ligt................desperately need a commanding CB
Sessegnon.........................cover for Shaw & Martial
Kroos................................experience needed in midfield, if Madrid are buying Pogba we need something back.
Rodri.................................huge potential, can do a Matic with pace, aggression and will be a great.
Fernades............................dynamic, much needed midfield goal threat.
Sancho..............................no brainer, it will give our attack some balance regardless of formation.
Jovic..................................could be a world beater, looks like a natural goal scorer, would keep Rashford sharp.

The rest of the squad would be
Romero & recall Henderson
Dalot, Smalling, Lindelof, Jones, Shaw & promote Laird, recall Tuanzebe
McTominay, Fred, Herrera & promote Gomes and Garner
Rashford, Martial & promote Chong and Greenwood

Look any clown can name Thomas Partey and Ruben Neves as the 2 players we should have playing next to Pogba next season.

The whole point of the post if you'd read it properly was to wonder if there was anyone British or with PL experience and ready for a bigger move, worth taking a punt on if the superstars were not available for transfer as is often the case.
So we just go for average midfielders just because they’re British ?
We’ve been absolute rubbish in the transfer market in the last 5/6 years, signing players just because they have PL experience isn’t the answer.

Ruben Neves isn’t the answer either, I’ve watched a few Wolves games and I have friends that follow them Neves hasn’t been as good as the caf makes out this season.

I don't know about the names but the profiles are clear to me. If someone can identify alternatives with these attributes then it's perfect.

-A centerback with leadership and commanding skills, with half decent ball playing abilities at least. But the first thing is vital.

-A complete rightback who can defend, start the play from the back without panicking and also deliver a decent final ball.

-A ball playing midfielder in the mould of Pjanic, Thiago with good positioning that can give us control and stability during games, and can be a second source of creativity coming from behind and giving a key pass to the forwards eventually, especially when Pogba is tightly marked.

-A F***ing right winger for once please.

-And finally an experienced striker to replace Lukaku who can release some pressure from Rashford for the coming season and probably the next one too. Someone who can press, hold and play the ball without looking drunk, and make runs to attack the space. Cavani maybe? (PSG open to sell apparently).

I'm totally with you.
What happened to the days where we had three or four clear striker options in the squad. Right now we have two and only one of them is aerial threat.
There were rumours of Arnautovic last summer. For a back up striker he's a decent option. That Jovic guy from Eintracht is having a great season. I think he would also be a good option to consider. Anyway - just speculating. But those positions you mentioned are a must. And what is worrying is that we need proven starters. We literally don't have good quality RB and we have been crying for a RW and CB for quite some time now. RW probably since Ronaldo left and CB since Moyes took over. There were patches where Blind, Rojo and Jones were in good form, but 3 months of good form over the past 5 years doesn't cut it.
And then there's the midfield crisis again. Hererra is a good squad option and I don't want him to leave, but if he doesn't leave then we won't be looking to recruit in that area. But we definitely could use an upgrade.

2 right footed players, who like playing on and are suited to wide right positions.

I’ll take a stab at the outgoing

Valencia (free transfer )
Rojo (10 mill)
Herrera (free)
Mata (free)
Lukaku (40-50 mill) won’t be an option as it’s too much of a loss
Andreas (7/8 mill ) one year left in contract

The truth is I haven't paid much attention to Jovic or Arnautovic this season, but I'm open to any player if they have the right conditions. That's a position where we don't need to get crazy spending big to bring a star if those at the club trust Rashford as our future number 9 (which I believe they do). I said Cavani because he's very well known and I saw the news linking him with Atletico. At 32 he looks fine and won't be too expensive so it could be interesting to do this transition, but it could be someone younger too if he ticks the right boxes.

My problem with Lukaku is that he can't press for more than 60 minutes due to his heavy body, the same reason why he isn't able to offer many runs off the ball and activity all around. People call him lazy but it's not about that, the guy is just a tank. And then technically we know his limitations so that's a terrible combination. Now the man seems open to leave I think it's a good chance to get someone more apt to perform that role.

Normally I'd bring stablished players who can perform from the get go as you said, because we need to be competitive as soon as possible and I think we have enough young players and talents coming from the academy. But I would make an exception with Sancho as I can see the guy being an absolute bomb in just a year or two. He's the kind of player that feels comfortable on the wing, moving centrally, dribbling, passing, playing on one side or the other. A player with high potential but he can offer a lot of things now.

The rest, if possible I'd try to bring more mature players and if they have character, strong mentality the better for us. Our best teams always had a lot of leaders around and nowadays there isn't anyone. In that thread about the next captain I was reading the comments and it was depressing. Smalling, De Gea... my god. I remember the good days as you were saying and that team is something to learn from in many ways. Tactics have evolved since but things like personality, bravery to play forward, skill, expressivity, sacrifice, desire, etc seems so lost in the last 5-6 years. Hopefully with Solskjaer some of these values are reinstilled and we start seeing something better in the near future, but it doesn't look easy on the paper. Massive task ahead for him.

Young, talented and hungry that’s what this side needs. Not another proven flop with a massive ego who thinks he’s to good for the club. Give me an exciting team full of youth prospects anyday over this rubbish.

how many players can you feasibly sell

introducing 5 players would be hard enough but if we sell all the ones suggested we'd have issues surely

Outs for me if possible: Darmian, Rojo, Herrera, Mata, Lukaku, Sanchez, Matic

In: a right back, a playmaker in the middle, a strong CB and two really talented attackers

the following year potentially sell Pogba, Young out, Jones out

bring 4 more in

feel we've momentous changes ahead

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
He played fullback?

Can't pretend to have followed this thread closely, so no idea why you are going on about Zagadou. He's a 19 year old kid thrown into games he shouldn't be thrown into, often playing out of positon. Partly due to injury issues Dortmund have had for weeks now, and partly because Lucian Favre seems slightly obsessed with playing central defenders at full back.

But he's a player who hasn't even shown enough for us to see if he's at the level of playing for one of the better Bundesliga teams yet, so if there is any suggestion that he should be stepping up to the PL, then that's a big no from me. He needs to be eased into life at Dortmund a bit better than he has been this season first of all, and we'll see how that goes. Akanji and Diallo are far more developed players, and far better players (Akanji especially).
Been trying to 'sell' him here. His earlier quote was "Zagadou has been one of Dortmund's best defender, if not the best this season". Apparently United should jump at him.....

Momentous changes is precisely what this squad needs. It's become stale as feck and is in desperate need of a good shakeup

It is FM2019, you sell all the players over age 30 and/or potential under 80, and then buy all the up and coming promising young players. If result is still not good next year, fire the manager, blame the manager waste money on the wrong players, and repeat.

It’s Friday, I’ve had a couple of glasses of wine, I’m feeling kinda healthy, works ok, family are well, financially I’m in a pretty good place, alls good in the hood but I’m not feeling the positive Manchester United transfer vibe.

I fear it’ll be a bit of a damp squib, as the upper middle classes would say, yeah there maybe 100 million spent on Bale or some other once good but now nearing the twilight of their playing career type player, it may excite us for a bit, a la Sanchez but ultimately they’ll just end up being a bit shit.

Sorry, don’t want dark anyone out, just the way I see it. Hope I’m wrong.

If he is saying all those things, then he is surely gonna have to take responsibility if our summer signings underwhelm next season. No hiding behind Woodward this time.

200m would mean no Sancho id assume. That's half of that budget.

You'd be looking at something like

AWB
Alderweireld
Rice
Lozano
Not necessarily.

Sancho: 50-60
Alderweireld: 25
Rice: 35
Lozano: 25
Plenty left over for "AWB" (I don't know who this is):

Depends how many he gets. If he doesn't get 4+ starters then he is shagged before the season even starts. That is how bad this team is!

We got some good building blocks but we have as many shit ones.

Everything Solskjaer has been saying kind of shows that he will likely be the one making transfer decisions in the summer. If he signs three players and those three underwhelm, then it's on him.

Maybe. Who's to say he gets his first choices or even his second. LVG talked about getting his last pick etc. May not be true but might be.

Also who's to say if we get 3 he didn't want 6?

Cause we need closer to 6 than 3 if we are hinest.

Sancho 50-60? We are not in 2009. He is around 100m.

Rice and Lozano also would be more expensive.

Agreed. What I don't get is people making out like it'd be some earth-shattering loss for Lukaku or Matic or even Lingard to leave. It's not as if we're talking about replacing world class players here. Never mind players like Darmian or Rojo. They barely factor into the squad at all aside from ensuring talented youngsters barely get a look in.

That said, there is a lot of business being talked about. Makes me nervous. Surely Ed isn't up to this at all. Need a DoF or someone more savvy with transfer negotiations at the very least to oversee if there is to be such an overhaul. Stat.

You are dreaming! Sancho will be closer to 100, 80 at absolute best and I doubt that. Rice is probably 50

Lozano maybe 40
Maybe he'll cost that much but if he pushes for a move then it will be less. And our goals are still achievable even if so.

Sancho: 80
Alderweireld: 25
Rice: 40
Lozano: 35
"AWB" (I don't know who this is): 20

That's 200 million.

And with outbound sales we can recoup 40-50M and use it to buy Neves and then subsidize a transfer of Sanchez.

I just hope We'll sign 1-2 experienced players along with the youngsters.
We've seen the impact Zlatan had. We've been mentally fragile and none of our players are worthy of the armband.

Ashley Young + Smalling as Manchester United captains, are you kidding me? These are the two that often get lots of blame for making mistakes. Surely They cannot shout at other players when They do things wrong themselves and I'm sure as feck They realized it.
