Last season in the PL of this nice little run for Southampton.

Hopefully forces them to return to their academy in the Championship in 2022/23 because they produce some lovely players.

Hope not, always had a soft spot for them. I wonder how they'll go about replacing Ings.

They might reinvest but I think there may be teams that struggle more than they would.

Danny Ings won them quite a few points, hopefully they can find an able replacement, as at least they're playing some decent football sometimes and always gives torrid time to top sides.

Burnley, Norwich, Watford for me
People predict Burnley to go down every year, and Dyche continues to defy expectations. On paper they look weak, but I wouldn’t bet on them going down whilst Dyche is manager.

I think it may be a stretch this year to keep going, could be wrong

I think the 3 new clubs will be the 3 to go down although I don't know anything about Brentford tbh

Another player sold. Probably to be replaced by another Championship player nobody wants

Any Southampton fans on here? I’m fuming for them, they must be furious with the clubs lack of ambition

I made a post a while ago detailing their extremely low transfer spend over the last 5-6 years, whilst pointing to their desperation to cut down their already thin squad at the end of the last January window. Now they've sold a starter CB after losing Ings (understandably) due to his contract situation. This used to be such a well run club. And it's surprising to me that Spurs did not go for Hasenhuttl who really has no reason to stay at a club that consistently sets him up to fail.

Pretty amazing to witness this shit show over there. Surely Ward-Prowse will push to move to Villa given Southampton have absolutely no ambitions.

Who are the owners and are they just taking money out of the club without anyone batting an eyelid?

Gao Jisheng, a Chinese billionaire. Maybe a similar thing to what's happening at Inter, told by the Chinese government to stop spending on European clubs?

Interesting. Not similar in the sense that there was no spending in the first place. They've probably a smaller net outlay over the last 5 years than a number of Championship clubs. I just don't get why this is not being criticised in the media and why the fans aren't revolting. Pretty diabolical ownership there.

Yep I've made the point on her you really have to separate the new owners regime from when they actually spent money under Koeman and Poch. Hasenhuttl came in and saved them relegation, he's since just been drained of his best players Hojberg, Ings, Bertrand...they are the lowest spending PL team (net) in the last 5 years or so...they are going to massively struggle to stay up. JWP is class, feel he could probably start for United in place of McT and be worth 10 assist a year from set pieces as well.

I can remember them years ago doing this one summer selling all of Rodriguez, Lallana, Clyne and loads others all in one go. People thought they'd massively struggle but Koeman came in and signed very well and they made europe in the end.

Problem here is their form from January onwards last season was terrible and they won't be going for top class players as replacements. Someone like Armstrong got a good scoring record in championship but then so did Che Adams and think it took him six months to actually score in premier league, Southampton will be going down if that happens again.

Certainly seem to be in the treading water at prem level stage and that's never a good place to be, only really Palace who seem experts at it and not getting drawn into serious relegation scrap.

Think Palace signed a couple of interesting players, but don't know if replacing Hodgson for Vieira is reliable to them. Anyway another club who I don't see anyone talking about and who I think will struggle, at least from an defensive point of view (unless they sign new players) is Wolves. I guess their Chinese owners aren't spending much to improve the squad.

Wolves pre season results been really poor. Neto out injured until October/November and he was their best attacker by a mile last season. Yeah the Fosun group have given up a bit like Randy Lerner did for us a decade ago now they've realised how much you have to spend year in year out to have serious shot at top 4 and talk they wanted to cash in on Adama or Neves this summer but clubs not interested at fee they want.

If Raul Jimenez can come back as good as before they'll be o.k but question mark about that with the injury he had.

Is it true they've accepted a bid from Leicester for Vestergaard? What are they doing?
He's not great and most of theirs fans seem happy enough to see him replaced but doesn't look like they're keen on his replacement being Nat Phillips who they seem to be closest to at the minute.

Some really poor goals they gave away yesterday. That first one when defender ducks out of the header and Richarlison gambles and scored turned the game.

Have heard of Salisu but no clue who that other guy was alongside him so got to find another CB to replace Vestegaard surely.

At least Armstrong got a debut goal so hit the ground running.

Didn't they sign Angus Gunn for about 15m a few years ago?

How the feck are Southampton firmly mid table? Every time I watch them I think who the feck are all these guys and yet whenever you're not looking they sneak a win. 13th place is a credit to them and the manager really but I find them such a dull team.
