If the Dippers don't get some players in I'll be amazed if they finish top 5, let alone top 3. Just look at their CB, FB and AM units:
CB
VDV: showed decline last season. Very questionable as to what his level will be this year.
Gomez: Bang average and injury prone.
Jacquet: Two bad shoulder injuries at 21. Zero PL experience.
Leoni: Coming off a ACL. Just 19 with very little experience of men's football.
FB:
Frimpong: Undersized and really more suited to a AM role in the PL.
Kerkez: Struggled last year although got to grips with playing for the Dippers as the season went on. Still more of a 7/10 player than anything else.
Bradley: Talented but injury prone.
Tsimikas: Never been good enough should only be a deep cover utility player for a top PL club.
AM:
Gakpo: Bang average PL winger
Munoz: Undersized AM with no PL experience or experience of playing for a big team.
Rio: Talented but just 17, will have ups and downs even if things go well.
Chiesa: Never recovered from his ACL. Ok to bring on with 20-10 mins to go, not much else.
I see Liverpool doing their needed business. They have work to do yes but the financial impact of missing out on Champions League revenues, especially with the resurgence of United and potential resurgence of Chelsea and Spurs will force their hand.
Also, when it comes to players, quality is important of course. But just as important and in opinion probably more important is a working system that the players understand, and can implement consistently to a high level. And despite them starting again under Iraola, do I feel there is still a core squad in place that can deliver 80+ points if it goes well for them, even with Salah gone.
But to your point, it depends on what they do in the market. As is, they will struggle for top 5 with the amount of transfers underway and the schedules of Chelsea and Spurs. But as mentioned, I dont see them standing completely still this window.
I'll stick to my prediction provided they do their business and Iraola settles well, a comfortable top 5 with an outside chance of the league.

Absolutely. I watched the Berbatov documentary on sky this week and he spoke about how star struck he was and you could see it on his face when Fergie picked him up direct from the airport. When Levy phoned him and asked him to go to city Fergie had already charmed him.
I do think though that if you are offered a choice of Spurs or Man Utd you go with Man Utd no matter how charming their manager is. Tottenham don’t and won’t be challenging anytime soon

They are selling the most expensive shirt in the PL at £90 and last season they had the 3rd most expensive general admission ticket in the PL (£109) after member discount.
They are selling the dream and not caring about how much they pay at the moment. Pedro Neto has just been announced as a City and spurs target by Romano. This is one that would concern me but it would also weaken Chelsea.
When players like Neto or Gittens get the ball against us, I breathe a sigh of relief as they are unlikely to score or assist.

I’m inclined to agree with much of this. They’ve massively overspent on fees and wages but it’s a gamble worth taking this summer as next window they’ll have less room to manoeuvre due to the knock down from Europe.
They have adopted the United approach of bringing in PL proven players for an outlay.
They’ll be interesting to watch. Kudus and Maddison to come back also.

Bruno G's impeding move to Arsenal really puts into perspective how much Spurs have overpaid for both Tonali & Fernandes IMO. I think they've managed to make even Anderson's move to City look like good value. And obviously United have got a bit of a steal with Tielemans.
They better hope these two manage to transform their midfield in a way that people overlook what they've spent overwise they are set for another disastrous season I think.

Why the f would Sesko move from United to Spurs? I think they may be getting a bit ahead of themselves. And De Zerbi with that "if I want someone I get them, I make sure I do" won't age well, not least when he's looking for squad players or if they do not start the season absolutely flying.

No guarantees he performs in this league to be fair. Gakpo has bad periods of good form.
Please don't be stupid enough to give Liverpool most of their Barcola money back for Gakpo. Most Liverpool fans I know wanted to see the back of him last season after seeing him repeatedly cut inside and blaze shots off target.
They had a ridiculously bad injury record last season. If they overcome that it should be a good season for spurs.
I think u are underestimating Liverpool.
They have Isak, Ekitike, Wirtz, Szobosolai. Even if 2 of them fire at their best next season alongside rest remaining 6/7 on 10 they will be up there in top teams.
Will likely get Barcola too.
It's still an issue now, still have big question marks over basically all of our attack:
Maddison - back from an ACL but not played at all in pre-season
Kudus - not played since January with a quad issue but back in light training
Kulusevski - not played in 15(!) months, back in light training
Odobert - out with an ACL, expected return December
Simons - out with an ACL, expected return February
The only fit first team attackers are Tel, Richarlison and Solanke - who himself is off the back of an injury-plagued season. It makes squad planning almost impossible as we need players now but then we're going to end up massively overstocked if/when the others come back.
they've stockpiled even more mediocre shite than we managed to. over paying for a few good additions this summer won’t remedy that.

Savinho had 1500 minutes last season, it's insane if he goes for anything near £80m.
