Streets 2 is one of my favourite games, so a newly reworked game based on that pinnacle (Streets 3 was still fun but a step back in almost every respect) would be great.

The new art style looks lovely, but it's good to see they've brought back many of the original sprites (I spotted Y Signals, Galsias and Fat Red Firebreathing Bastards in the trailer). I wouldn't be devastated if only Axel and Blaze are playable but I'd love to see Skate and my boy Max back too.

If they update the gameplay this could be pretty good, nothing wrong with the old one though but id like to see a bit more complexity to the combat get some mad combos going.

Maybe. I think there's a line to walk there in that I'd hate to see them feck up the great core gameplay of the originals with too much complexity, but I accept it could be seen as a missed opportunity to not innovate at all barring a lick of paint on the visuals.

Oh definitely I wouldn't want anything too elaborate just maybe a bit more variety in the combat or maybe some surface level progression system where you learn a few more new moves on the way.

Indeed. In any case there's no way I'm not buying it so they've got me where they want me either way!

I've just read Yuzo Koshiro isn't involved on the soundtrack, which is a shame. Again I wasn't too hot on Streets 3's audio, but 1 and particularly 2 were amazing.

Sweeeeeeeeeet. This and Golden Axe were two trilogies for good & bad times.

Doubt 4th will be iconic as classics but you rarely see things going wrong with arcade gaming.

I'll definitely be getting this. I loved the first three games. I remember getting a video with either CVG or Mean Machines that had a preview of Streets of Rage 2 on it. I watched it like daily for months until the game came out.

Streets of Rage Remake was amazing, so I hope the team behind that were involved in this somehow ala Sonic Mania

Fully expecting having to pay to unlock Roo and Zan...

Just reading the thread on ResetEra on this and whilst the majority seem excited for this you always come across some absolute twats

"Did they seriously bring back Streets of Rage without any Black characters?? WTF?"

"Why is Axel older but Blaze seems the same, heaven forbid a woman in her early 30's to be attractive in a fighting game"

"The over sexualisation of Blaze seems very tone deaf"

How dare you not take the political and social stance of a 2D video game series in which you beat the shit out of and can play as a kangaroo seriously.

To be fair Blaze is looking pretty tidy in the new art style. If I were the type to jack off to cartoon porn (which I'm not) I could have some fun with this trailer. But like I said, I'm not that type, no siree.

I like Axel's beard too.

I was always more of a Double Dragon guy, but Streets was awesome too. Can't wait to see what they have in mind.

Can't wait for this - hope we get some Golden Axe too.

Not keen on the new art style - but just grateful it's back! Did they buy the rights from SEGA?

Yeah, I played this on the Mega Drive probably close to 25 years ago!

Clearly the best character.
But yes, love this game, still play it with my friend every now and then. Mostly 1 and 2 obviously...

I like Adam on the first one, but it's Max all the way on 2. I have to slum it with Zan or even The Newly Bearded One on 3.

Always chose Skate on the second one, Keeping it in the family and all that
Nah, Max was to slow for me, Axel I didn't like because everybody liked him and Blaze was a girl and as a kid, sod that

 Absolutely.

Almost continual >>B slides get me around the place fairly quickly as the big man, and lining up a back breaker that takes out multiple foes is too good a feeling to pass up. That and barging Zamza in only a couple of hits, the blocking prick.

Double Dragon on the arcade? Or am I showing my age?
Double dragon was fun from what I can remember, but at the same point, I was a bit young, so me and my brother would always get to the end, and he'd then end up beating me when you went against each other

I hope for this game, they keep it as simple as possible.
Sega and that generation just had some great but simple games.
You don't see sidescrollers anymore, apart from cuphead, but they just worked.

Making Sonic, Mortal Kombat 3d just ruined them.

Double Dragon, Streets of Rage and Final Fight were the best three side-scrollers.
Vigilante on the Amiga/Amstrad/Comodore 64 was pretty good. Golden Axe was excellent at the time. Streets of Rage and Final Fight just seemed to find a level above everything else.

Back then life was simpler, you could walk down the street and headbutt some street thugs into submission until you found their oddly gigantic leader. Maybe you'd get hungry and punch a phone booth until it disappeared and an apple or a fully cooked chicken or even a bag of money would appear in its place. Political correctness ruined all that. Kids these days don't know they're born. They wouldn't even know how to rescue a kidnapped woman from some criminals by wandering the streets punching everyone you meet. Makes me sick it does.

Best fighting scroller game ever. So simple yet so satisfying

Turtles In Time, boys!

Yesssssss @Sweet Square !!! I remember spending one holiday with my family just playing The Simpons on the arcade everyday with my brother. It was soooo fun. Shame it never got a console port like Turtles In Time :(
