Stretford End today

It’s why we don’t deserve any success. The fans should be booing anything red that moves. It’s the only way to show our displeasure at the Glazers, INEOS, Wilcox, Bermuda, Amorim and the likes of Maguire and Rashford. I hate to say it but the match going fan is really ruining being a Manchester United fan these days.

On one hand, yes, the players and coaching staff these past few years have been awful and they haven't deserved the support, or the patience of the fans.

Not worth diving in to the ownership, as we know that the root of our issues lie there and they are the A to Z reason why we are where we are.

However, I support the team and I always want us to win. I'm fortunate to be born and bred around the corner and still live locally, but I still treat it the same, as if, like some fans, who travel from all over the globe. Why would you go to the effort of shelling out for the game, just to stand there and say "boo"?

I'm still unsure on Amorim (leaning towards getting rid to be honest), but I am trying to keep the faith that things may change.

I know that I may get pelted for this, and this opinion doesn't originate from me, but I find it classless when your own fans chant "sacked in the morning" like Forest did to Ange the other night.

The only time our fans have done anything akin to that was the 4-0 loss away to Brighton in the last couple of games under Rangnick, where we thought rock bottom had been hit then. I am happy to be corrected, but I don't recall anything similar in recent memory. Even G Nev said as much after that game as he was covering it at the time.

The team have done little to merit support, but I am just happy to win - albeit against a newly promoted side, so we're hardly driving off into the sunset - but it boggles the mind when people want us to lose this or that game in the hope that the manager gets the boot.

Either way, just like Chelsea a fortnight ago, I'm not going to get piss wet through just to go there to moan my tits off.

If fans want to eff and jeff after the match as the players head to the tunnel following a shit performance (there have been many), then go for it, but support the team during the match at the very least.

That's where I stand anyway. It may be simple and reductive, but so be it.

Wasting your breath around here, mate

You’re addressing the following that we knew we would get along with Fergie’s success. Entitled non-paying customers who think they “have higher standards “ ffs

Grateful for supporters like you

Yep. Agree.

I really like it. Never get to see it from my seat at the back in the east stand (damn roof) but it looks nice on TV.

@NHLYR 1878
Liking this post.

What is the the general consensus among match goers regarding Amorim?
Cheers.

I'd say 50-50. None are happy, obviously, but many understand the situation. Many (me included) are fed up with how boring we are.

His song broke out during the second half for a bit, as did "Amorim's Red & White Army", but it's not quite as in Unison as in previous games.

There's many moans and groans when we pass it backwards unnecessarily, so we're hardly deluded.

I think that all support is very fragile, as nobody would be surprised if we got a good tanking yesterday.

The flags have been a ‘thing’ for the past few home games and I’m led to believe it’s a permanent thing in the SE

Ran and initiated by the TRA

I agree with your post and find it wild that it needs to be said.

Coming back from the game yesterday, talksport host whoever was covering our game whether our match day going fans would have rather lost to see Amorim get sacked.

No, no we dont and we will never choose losing a game just to see a manager get sacked.

The failings we have shown are far beyond the manager, which is well known.

As for the players, ive moaned every home game ive gone to about the standard of individual performances, but its always been merited. But id never want to see my club lose.

Cheers.

Ah, thank you.

I wish that I'd have known before I went on to make a big soppy post

I've been a long time lurker here and have lost count of the number of people slating match going fans for whatever reason, some of it justified, though some of it equally ridiculous.

Thought the lad was being serious - more fool me!

Our home atmosphere has been pretty damn good for a while now. I can’t pinpoint when it changed but things feel a bit better these days in that sense. I think we had some big atmosphere’s in the EL last season and that feeling has just built a bit of momentum with the supporters. If anything I’d say Sunderland was probably the quietest game in a while but I think that’s due to the Brentford loss deflating everyone a bit. But as the game went on it felt like everyone was coming round a bit again. But I think it’s a case of wait and see now, see if the players can start stringing performances and results together. It’s a bit frustrating when the fans get behind the team at home and they play well, only to go away the following game and undo all the hard work.

I think everyone was just stunned into silence with a relatively easy win and clean sheet - we all expect catastrophe just around the corner nowadays!

Despite being mostly shite for a while, there has definitely been an improvement in atmosphere due mostly to the extension of standing areas IMO - new ideas like Country Roads pre-match & this kind of flag initiative from TRA helps too.

Safe standing is being expanded too

I didnt hear the OG Amorim song at all on Saturday though, seems many now think it was a mistake to back him so strongly before he actually proved himself - there were a few goes at the more basic 'Amorims Red & White Army'.

Ha yeah you are probably right! Not often we get a straightforward win these days.

Agreed on the other points too, the standing areas have made a difference and the other things too. I made a thread about the Country Roads pre-match. It's a bit like marmite I think, some love it and some don't. But it does get everyone singing before the game and generally carries well into the match. Funnily enough I hear a lot of opposition fans talking about it and how impressive it is to witness when OT is in full voice singing it.

The 'Amorims R&W Army' chant was going now and then on saturday. Only a handful of supporters singing in the early part of the game but I think it got louder as the game went on. But you can definitely sense that he's not going to get that support now until it is earnt and there is tangible evidence that we are on the right track. And rightly so too. I don't really care too much about that at this stage, I think the main thing the team needs is really good support each home game. It won't be long now before they are talking about OT being a tough place to play, as we have generally been good at home so far. We just need to keep that up, and it will hopefully be the first baby step towards becoming a good side again.

White text. Hehe. I knew it...

Eh? Where's the white text?

It looked great, I was sat in the safe standing next to it and it looked amazing.
Why are you sat in safe standing? Get out!!
Country road does sound great when we all sing
Yeah I love it too.
Brilliant again today.
Even Hurzler commented on the atmosphere being very loud. Fantastic.

I have to remind myself at times though that on the Caf the match going fans are to blame for everything.

The atmosphere is consistently now the best it's been since the late 90s.

Fair play to all those involved. It's taken a lot of effort and time and dealing with a club that really didnt/doesn't understand what a good atmosphere actually is.

Next step is getting the club to commit to no further ticket price increases.
