Don't think he would choose us but surprised we aren't pursuing Jonathan David more aggressively.

With us essentially having two goal scoring 10's, I think his ability to play in others + his effectiveness in a press would be great

Especially given our limited budget and him being on a free

We have two goal scoring 10s right now - three in fact. The main priority has a to be a proper striker.

As for David, there are apparently a lot of hidden fees involved with signing him to where the "free" transaction could balloon to has high as 28m.

Fair enough. I think a loan for Ramos is our best bet this summer. But assuming PSG aren’t privy who do we sign ?
I actually wouldn't mind Ramos if we were getting a haircut though that's unlikely for a Mendes client. Would probably end up having to buy Joao Felix to sweeten the deal.

I'm not crazy about any of the striker options at the moment. Fees are nuts for strikers that would be seen as average in other eras and would prefer to put the real money into midfield and go looking for a forward when there's more options available. Wonder would Nicolas Jackson be available for a cheap now that Chelsea are chasing Ekitike.

My extremely "hear me out" opinion (and should probably use a burner account for this) is that I think Darwin Nunez could actually be a decent option for us but only if he was available for a complete cut price deal.

Sørloth sounding better and better…

What is it about Darwin that leads you to believe he would be a good fit ? His numbers over the past two years have been pretty much a carbon copy of Hojlund's.

Didn't they sign Delap today, and also have Jackson, Nkunku and Guiu?

Guiu linked with a loan move to Ipswich, Nkunku linked with a sale all season (if he's over his injuries), but Delap might find that he's competing with two first team strikers for one position.

I think given we’re after two really prominent goal scorers we mightn’t need a proper striker, especially considering they are few and far betweeb

Chido can play between Cunha and (hopefully) Mbuemo

Don't want it to sound like I'm bigging him up too much, it'd more be taking advantage of a market opportunity if Liverpool were practically giving him away for free to clear his wages off their books.

He's a bit of a meme but he's also a complete chaos merchant and while his numbers backed off a bit this year, under Klopp he was the 100 percentiler when it came to shots per 90 and his combination of pace and power is right up there. His stock is low but I could see Darwin getting 20 goals in the right environment - although clearly United has not been the optimal environment for a LOT of players so how likely is it that it would be for Darwin.

By the way, his numbers are not comparable to Hojlunds at all. He's got 16 goals and 10 assists in 35.3 90s in the league, while Hojlund has 14 goals and 2 assists in 46.2 games. That's a difference of .74 goal contributions/90 to .35/90. Darwin's expected figures are even higher.

I think Zirkzee could be a better foil for both those players if Mbeumo is finalised. All for playing Chido when Hojlund is the alternative but as big a talent as he could turn out he's not a the level to be consistently starting for us.

Hojlund has more goals at United over the past two seasons than Darwin at Pool over the same period. Beyond this horrifying fact, the idea that United, at its most vulnerable point in decades would buy a stuggling Pool reject, strains credulity. We have more chance of buying Mbappe this summer.

Look, I don't think its in any way probable and it was a silly thought I had trying to think of alternatives to the most meh crop of 'elite' strikers in history but I just think that if we got by all that, the guy with more expected goals and assists per 90 than Isak over the last two seasons could do a pretty useful job for us and would be all the sweeter given his perceived failure at Liverpool. Also, just because a player is a reject at one club doesn't mean they can't become a great at another (KdB/Salah)

I think Gyokeres struggles if he comes here.
I don't really see who is available representing a clearly better purchase mind you.

On the other hand, imagine the violent tears from every corner of the country if Utd pickup Cunha, Mbeumo, and Gyokeres in this window.

Sorry, I actually meant to put Zirkzee, but as you can tell by the typos I wasn’t paying much attention

So you’re telling me that there’s a chance.. that he won’t sign

Hahaha, for what it's worth, I think it's pretty much nailed on. Arsenal will sign Sesko.
Liverpool will likely wait for Isak next summer unless he signs a new contract or sign Ekitike
Leaves Chelsea as the main PL competition

How about Raul Jimenez on a free. Still has decent stats in the league. Could be the new Cavani and a less risky option If we can’t get Gyokers Osimhen or Mateta

I was really hoping for a Rashford / Watkins swap deal tbh. That seems to have died.
Villa have huge issues with their wage bill so would have no way to fit Marcus in without CL football, not that I think Marcus was ever that interested in a permanent switch to Villa anyway. He still thinks Barca are going to make him their statement signing of the summer, I am hoping that he is not as deluded as I think he is.

I really hope United are at least enquiring about Sesko.

He is the one. I'm gonna be quite gutted if he goes to Arsenal or Liverpool.
