Looking like 80-90M fee for a player who is still a prospect, we cannot afford the fee or the time it would take to see if he develops into the finished article. Sesko himself has also been very particular about choosing his next step and has been in dialogue with Arsenal for 12 months now, I cannot see his head being turned by Sir Jim rushing in at the 11th hour asking him to join our efforts to climb back to relevance.

Promising player, but out of our range this summer, especially after having spent so much on Cunha and soon Mbuemo.
 
Sesko for me.
I am sick of us bringing in players that lack the basics in football.
Sesko has speed, great technique , good on both feet and can head a ball which are all the facets a striker that is going to cost a lot of money should have.

Gyokeres can head the ball too, just not the same level of aerial threat you get from a Kane/Osimhen
 
Nice 50 mins discussion with Carl Anka of the Athletic on Stretford Paddock (Motty and Joe Smith not Howson so very watchable)

Carl does a section on tactical fit between the likely #10’s and different #9’s - worth watching - he was making the case for a #9 that plays on the last line - between the posts and seeks to stretch the pitch to give the #10’s more space to move and create - didn’t seem to be comfortable with either Rasmus or Gyokeres - could work but their current style of play not well suited so both need to adapt - Rasmus issue was him dropping deeper and drifting not staying high and between the posts - VG issue more with the greater speed power and effectiveness of EPL defenders

His view was Osehmen was perfect - peak Cavani or peak Vardy in their different ways ideal - hopefully if the Club do buy a #9 he will be the right fit for the game style - should see more credible links after the window has its week closure 10-16 June
 
Went with Gyokeres but Celtic bound Dávid Strelec will be added to this pool in no time. Reckon he wil have 30+ G/A season in Scotland with a Brighton snapping him up swiflty for 30 or so mill next summer. Overall way better than limited Šeško while 10 times cheaper.

 
Keep saying it the more I see of Tolu Arokodare the more impressed I am. Scored a well taken goal last night for Nigeria against Russia and just finished top scorer in Belgium. Been linked with Bayern too and would be a real good option to have around the squad especially as a cheaper Mateta alternative:

I am always for these kind of ideas but Bratislava probably wants 12-15m. The step up to the PL would be immense.

From our media Slovan are ok with 10-13m and some 15% cheap sell-on on top.

True, its a huge step-up you are right mate. But its the same dificulty for way more limited Šeško, costing Arse or Chelsea closer to 80-100mil.

Feel bad anyway that Im biggin up a player of my Trnava biggest rival Slovan. Going to Spartak games for 40 years, David Strelec is one of the few respecting a main rival when he scores. He wont act idiot when scoring for Celtic against Rangers. Wish him a great season and career.
 
If Jhon Duran is available on loan as is being speculated I would be all over that, even if we bring in 1 striker then we have to hold onto Hojlund otherwise we have zero back up, Duran on loan plus another striker would be a great bit of business, especially if we can include an option to buy

I'd rather have Duran than Hojlund or Zirkzee that's for sure.

Why is he available on loan? Is he unhappy to be playing in a shitty league? If yes I don't really feel bad for him.

Nothing official but he is said to be unhappy and it is affecting his mental health. I would be wary of Duran, he is largely about potential at this point and there was a fair bit of noise when he moved that one of the reasons Villa were so happy to get shot was because he was a toxic presence in the dressing room. On loan we are fairly safe but I am going to guess a decent loan fee would be needed and we would have to cover his wages which may well be mental considering where he is playing.

Doesn't sound like a player I want here despite his immense potential. We still have two drama queens to get rid of...

They bought him for like €75M and are paying him €20M net per year and I guess he also had a fat signing bonus. It would be very generous of them to loan him for free or a decent loan fee 5 months later while covering a major part of his wages. But they're also used to throwing money out the window so who knows. Considering the things you just said I think a hard pass would be wise.
 
Why is Osimhen not a choice in the poll?

Two most talked about strikers in the transfer forum and one of them isn't even a choice in this list?

He was on the original poll and then it was updated when Ornstein stated as a fact that United do not have any interest in signing him.

Should be in the list regardless. If Sesko is in there and Etkike etc then so should Osimhen.

Will probably need to be reset soon once a few deals go through. I wondered why Kean was not in there considering we have been more strongly linked to him than some other names that are on the list but I expect the picture will clear shortly and a new poll will be created. I guess it depends on whether we want a poll of who we would like the club to sign or do we want to narrow it down to those who are likely targets?
 
Apparently Jhon Duran is available on loan. Al Nassr want to meet their foreign quota and they have some other players lined up; or maybe it’s to keep Cristiano happy.
 
I think Sesko and Ekitike are both extremely promising, but out of our range both in terms of price and immediate ambitions. I'd be delighted with either. If we are truly in for Gyokeres and he still chooses Arsenal, I'm fine with it. I do hope there's a contingency plan there, or maybe a plan a that is being worked on in the background. Would love to bag Mateta for a much lower fee than those three and Osimhen would all require.

Please don't just keep faith in Hojlund as starter

I’d love us to go a bit left field and sign Schick. He’s a player at his peak that doesn’t rely on pace and I think he’d be the perfect link. Reminds me a lot of Berbatov. But I think they’d want more for him than we can really afford

Yeah, I don't know about some of these. Osimhen is a player, but his wages might really be disruptive. I'd rather we clean out those on 250K + and create some parity within the first XI and have some sensible squad level wages. Watkins will cost too much, especially given his age, though he's a classy player. Schick is coming off of a injury free season but in the last 6 years he's missed over 200 matches with injury. I wouldn't spend any money on him. With Mateta we already know he can handle the league very well and I can't imagine he'll cost anything near as much as Sesko, Ekitike (both of whom I think are out of our range) and Gyokeres. I imagine he could be prized away for 40m. He's 27, they are pretty much a selling club, although they really stood strong with Guehi.

I just hope we are working on a number of targets and have things in place as soon as the dominos start to fall, like getting Mbeumo over the line or selling one of the unwanted ones.
