Summer Transfer Budget?

Figures in millions GBP:

Bruno (100?) if the rumours are true, must take that deal
Garnacho (50?) looks increasingly likely to depart
Mainoo (45?) does not fit, does not try...sell
Antony (35?) allow Betis to pay over several years
Rashford (35?) dreams of Barcelona...fingers crossed they, or somebody else, bites at that price
Sancho (25?) Chelsea or anyone, hopefully!

That is nearly 300 million for two starters, a bench player and three players who have not even been part of the first team squad. Not even mentioning players like Malacia, Hojlund, Maguire, Onana, Ugarte...

A fairly long list of IFs but IF they can pull that off...well, a significant rebuilding of the squad could certainly take place.

Plus £100m budget takes it to around £400m, have to say that we could do a lot with that

Hypothetically let’s say Cunha and Delap are done and the sale of Bruno and Garnacho opens up another 150m to spend.

How you spending it?
MIDFIELD

Go and get Garcia?
He should be on their short list, yes. The reported release clause will attract many clubs but United need to be one of them as they need to improve on Onana. It will surely be one of their main priorities.

People spending the money we will get for players, we have to sell the players first and clubs know we are in trouble so might dig their heels in. An efficiently run club would get most of their business done early with just a couple of signings going to the deadline. However we are not an efficiently run club which is why we are in a mess. Hopefully Cunha is done quickly. Delap could have better options than us. I am usually excited about the transfer window. I am dreading this one a bit.

Lammens was another mentioned by Stone

Another potential option. He, along with Garcia and Milinkovic-Savic (Torino & Serbia), offer the imposing stature that Onana lacks. With all the antics in and around the six yard box nowadays, an imposing keeper is of great benefit. More and more teams rely on set pieces to offer a threat as the tactics have taken away a lot of the open play and creativity, so being able to deal with set pieces has become even more important in recent years. Every time United concede a corner or free kick around the area, the nerves are jangling in the back line due to Onono being back there, ready to flap about like a nervous kitten.

This is obviously of concern. IF they manage to get shut of those they deem necessary to move, the problem then shifts to the teams selling players. They will know United have accumulated a war chest for their summer raids and the prices will rise.

They have to manage this summer better than any in recent memory, I agree with you on that for sure.

My only concerns with Milinkovic-Savic is two things why didn't he make it here, also apparently he parries the ball into danger area a bit too much

Gosh i love doing this in highschool. Scribbling numbers, ins and outs playing fantasy transfer muppet

But when does that ever happens, not even in FM (unless you use editor)
Mind you scousers are doing fantasy football

I don't know where it would finish but I like this squad and you have been realistic with transfer fees, unlike many other posters on here.

Doubt we get a fee for Casemiro though

The right side of the attack is disastrous. Bruno / Mount don't have athleticism, pace or power and neither offset those attributes with being good at progressing the ball in possession.

In terms of signings you've nailed the goalkeeper and the midfield in my opinion. Joan Garcia is for me the best keeper in La Liga this season, no brainer of a signing given his ability and potential. Larsson looks a classy player, someone who uses intelligence to play but seemingly isn't the profile that Amorim is looking for (which is a runner essentially a box-to-box).

I don't think Gyokores is realistic given the clubs predicament in Europe, I would split his fee between Delap / Cherki. Cunha, Delap and Cherki as a front three I think would be dangerous. Two very physical forwards and one who like Amad can weave his way out of tight situations but can shoot and also play a decisive pass.

On paper they are not the strongest right now, but they’re quite young and adapting to new manager and playing style. They are the CMs from the current squad I’m pretty sure we are keeping so I put them up top as a pair. Wharton would play a lot and Larsson too. I think we could make it work well with those options in midfield, and potentially for the next 10 years.

If you have those options in midfield the two you picked to start would definitely not be starting.

Its been reported that we are still talking to Gyokores

They wouldn’t have to start just because they’re named on top. I would play whoever performs.

I don't think this will happen but given the recent uptick in form (all relative off course), we should try to sell / get rid off Mount, Maguire and Casemiro. All on big wages and are not suited for the job either due to injury (Mount) or age (Casemiro) or just not good enough (Maguire).

Even 10m for Casemiro is something because we are also saving on 18m of wages. Maguire could potentially go for 15m which would subsidize the purchase of a new CCB.
