Why would we negotiate with Chelsea to sign Joe Cole? We can't sign him before the end of the season by which time he is out of contract.

If Real keep underachieving for the next two or three years then maybe we'll get a chance. With the money they have spent and the merchandising potential I think it's more likely that if Ronaldo does ever return as a united player it will be when he's 30+. By that time he'll be a very different player (sort of like Figo when he went to Inter)

No way ever would anyone try to buy both Higuain and Gago. They hate each other, and would like nothing more than to be in separate clubs.

CALDERON: REAL 'OBSESSED' WITH ROONEY

Real Madrid have an "obsession" about signing Wayne Rooney but would need to fork out £80million or more to do so, according to former president Ramon Calderon.

Madrid, who have spent £250million assembling a team with stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Xabi Alonso, were knocked out of the Champions League in midweek by Lyon.

Current president Florentino Perez has been linked with potential moves for Jose Mourinho to replace manager Manuel Pellegrini and Manchester United striker Rooney.

Calderon said: "It seems that it's an obsession for the president to go for Rooney. I imagine Manchester United wouldn't like to lose a player like him.

"Sometimes it's a point of money and if there is a proposal maybe there will be a deal.

"You have to take into account that the most important thing is what a player wants to do.

"Ronaldo was a good signing. He is one of the best. He is a professional, a real professional and he is doing a really good job.

"I don't know if it is possible to spend again another 100 or 80 million more euros. I imagine in that case you (Manchester United) would have to sell."

Asked on BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme if Ronaldo regretted his move to Madrid, Calderon added: "I don't think so.

"He did what he wanted to do, he came to a big club. The idea was to win everything but you can't buy everything with money.

"Even though you think you've got lot of very good players together, that's not the same as having a good team."

doubt it...unlike Ronaldo, Rooney isnt one for stupid games - he has come out numerous times saying that Utd are the best club in the world, and that there is no need to move due to his love for the club, and the fact that his family and life are in and around the area in which he currently lives.

Just beat me to it.
Don't walk under any ladders anytime soon. Say, three weeks.

But that's not what Fergie says, is it? He indicated as much last summer. Perhaps he knows something we don't?
He knows that Ronaldo is a perfectionist, does not fear change, and is all about the win. And if the wins don't come, the player will gravitate towards the value of proper environment/context. At which point, should said player return to said proper environment with a more mature outlook on the balance between sacrifice and victory...well then look out world. You'll see a battle-hardened Ronaldo who can switch intra-game between domination mode and making-teammates-better mode.

EDIT: This sounds like obvious shit, but I think Ronaldo has it in him to become less bulldozer with sports-car cornering and more ATV with tank-turret add-on.
