Talk of The Devils Podcast

Yeah he clearly has actual inside sources but every question to him leads into a monologue about how he met the uncle of some random long forgotten player.

Also weird the producers of the podcast don't call him out on this offline. Like c'mon mate, just answer what you've been asked and move on.

'People say to me, Andy ticket prices are expensive. I say to them, I was in Mogadishu last week...speaking to Bebe's second cousin - top lad. You have to remember football is a business, and fans all want new shiny signings'.

Sorry what Andy mate?

They run away from what they have said earlier and dont even acknowledge it. Laurie said we could sign 2 mids of around 75 m each, on a pod close to end of last season. Andy kept saying money is there. Now oth have completely backtracked without any reference to this. They were talking about no europe last year causing financial issues, but we had record revenues in 24/25, we will match those with no training kit sponsor and no europe for end of 25/26. We are likely to be profitable in same period. We paid less wages as rashford and onana were on loan and NO CL meant a 25 % cut for mopst of squad and our per home game revenue is 7.5 m which is highest in the league, Ratcliffe cut 250 jobs to save an annual 40 m or so, which will come into effect for 25/26 season fully and further this year. Since then we ve lost casemiro's huge wages, it probably covers both tielmans and santos wages. We have increased our RCF, which allows us to not be restricted in terms of cash. We have CL which will add a min of 100 m if we pass the group stages, 20 m extra per year from betway, 10 m extra from adidas and bonuses from sponsors cause we made CL.
No top 6 club pleads poverty like the self proclaimed "biggest lub in the world" which is a shame on us. The things they say and reality are quite different, they seem to be used by club for controlling the narrative. They seem to change every week on basis of what club want and they had no clue about any of santos or tielemens . They dint know nothing about Tynan and the expected youth signings leaked from outside. They were lying about ederson deal as well. While in italy they were saying how the deal is off and yet we kept saying it wasnt for a long time, they kept on towing the club line. Its poor journalism, its selling your job for access to sources that want certain stories in the media about the club. Now they are running away from 3 mids , saying it might be two plus mount being back, this narrative probably to gauge the reaction of online fans just in case we dont sign another midfielder. Its pretty poor from a journalistic point of view. Its like they are becoming like matt law for chelsea or that newcastle whackjob reporter.
Every journalist is only as good as their sources, and for our traditional Tier 1s, the likes of Whitwell, Stone, Ducker etc, they used to be fed info straight from the club. So they would report late but would normally be accurate.

This summer it's clear none of them are getting any meaningful information, and the standard party line of not having funds and struggling financially are being thrown around. I'm sure even they are aware this contradicts what they were told previously, many examples such as being willing to spend 70 million on Baleba last summer and 62.5 million on Semenyo in January. They kept going on about how Anderson is our top target for CM all of last season and in the last podcast Laurie was saying we were never seriously in for him.

To me it's clear Ineos are now operating a totally silent ship, and we will only hear about a transfer when it's nearly done. So all this talk about how Mount can be a CM and there might not be any more signings are just the opinions of either these guys, or people at the club who aren't part of the inner circle who deal with transfers. Not much point getting too worked up over these opinions.

Mitten does my head in now. Sanctimonious bloke who proper ironically now tows the party line from Utd after decades as a Fanzine first man - he is loving his new prominent access, inevitable I suppose.
Mitten tows the party line?

He’s been hugely hugely critical of the Glazers in the past and remains so now, and he’s been critical of the club recently about season tickets. What a strange take

He is a useful voice - but it's really soft stuff from him as he is part of club apparatus now. That Berrarda interview in UWS last year was a walk in the park for him, likewise Jim.

Traditionally a fanzine editor would be all over the club for the latest fiasco's (£100 members tickets, ST bans etc). Andy has to be very careful, I sympathise why - but he's not the 'voice of the fans' he was pre Covid.

I'm not slagging him off (directly anyway). It's my take on his stances.

Yeah it does get annoying. Like he hasn't paid any mind to what actual discussion is occurring, or has no intention of actually answering. It does grate on me.
'People say to me, Andy ticket prices are expensive. I say to them, I was in Mogadishu last week...speaking to Bebe's second cousin - top lad. You have to remember football is a business, and fans all want new shiny signings'.

Sorry what Andy mate?
 I can literally hear that answer from him.

Spot on. But you forgot his classic ending: "... but fans aren't the ones making the decisions. The people in charge of the club are."

It’s by far the best United podcast. Yeah, all of them can be a bit annoying at times but it’s nothing compared to the likes of McKola, Howson, Ed Barker.

Not when the updates aren't very positive it isn't

Maybe in the past. But I agree with the earlier post, he does not come across these days as a journalist who is prepared to hold the board's feet to the fire. Very much a cheerleader from what I can see. He's not someone I would listen to about United - all a bit mealy mouthed in his attempts at being impartial. Conversely, and I know he's controversial (probably mostly hated on here I suspect), but Goldbridge is the only person I listen to consistently that has the measure of the board and is not afraid to call out the nonsense and lack of ambition.

Fat Howson was funny and would often take the piss out of himself. Jacked Howson is an arrogant cnut who takes himself far too seriously and gets really spikey when criticised. I can't watch him anymore.

I like the United!United!United! Channel.
His videos are generally short and to the point with some great guests.

I haven't bothered to look into who the host is and he's not really the type to bang his own drum. But he clearly has connections at the club and more mature than most YouTube channels out there.

I like Webby & O Neill, United People's TV and probably Promised Land podcast because they keep it real

He’s the main reason I gave up on that podcast, but I have to say Carl Anka also comes across overly academic and slightly sanctimonious.

Webby seems to have left that channel and both he and O'Neil, despite being proper top reds, are clearly suffering from years of abuse to put it kindly

I sometimes watch the promised land vids, but he could probably do with an editor as they tend to be a bit long winded.

Edit: and I pretty much stopped watching O'Neill when he had Goldbridge on the channel and neither called him a cnut or smacked him in the face.

Haha yeah Goldbridge is a wacko. I cant imagine how hes got such a wide viewership

Anything Goldbridge I can't stand. He manufactures controversy and it's a car crash - most people just can't look away and that's why all the followers

For me TOTD is only good right after a news story breaks, because they add context that doesn't make official statements, Ornstein tweets, etc. But otherwise I think it's meh

Only thing I watch regularly is Stretford Paddock. Joe is great at keeping things light, Jay is smart and good at reeling in the 'personalities' (like Howson) after they say something absurd

If anyone has a rec that's better than Paddock then I'm all ears

United United United seems to be Steve Bartrum - I only came across it recently and I agree he’s low key and quite thoughtful and has strong guests - quite a contrast to the loud men Brent DeC and Howson/McCola etc - it’s good there are different voices out there now with different styles - would be awful it if was all limited to Neville or frankly any one voice - variety is a positive - despite then number they all seem to be locked out of the real info now INEOS are blocking the leaks

Joe and Jay are great, and hilarious too.

Howson is a fool. McKola is fine but too dismissive to people he cant be arsed debating with.

in terms of podcasts No Question about that is comfortably the best in my opinion

insightful, well-reasoned, not afraid to have a strong opinion, entertaining with excellent guests

Makes me wonder whether some of the top tier journalists who were used to getting fed information are now putting out information of a tight budget, to ignite backlash from the fans, so that someone at the club has a Woodward moment and tells everyone that there is money to spend.

I kept watching paddock for ages because of Jay and Joe. But I stopped earlier this year and I'm glad I did. Another summer of the same regurgitated rumours and bs would have driven me crazy.

As I said above, I'd highly recommend United!United!United! But it's a very different type of channel.

Yeah I know what you mean about Webby & O Neill, wouldn't hold the Brent thing against him though as he knows full well what he's really like. I also like how United People's TV isn't afraid to call him out for ragebaiting.

 goldbridge ffs

So basically the problem a lot of people have with Mitten is that he isn't a overly dramatic man child.

Not sure how I missed this post earlier.

So, you won't listen to Andy Mitten about United but you will listen to 'Mark Goldbridge'. One has been writing about and following United for many decades. Has seen them at grounds all over the world and is an excellent ambassador for the club. Has been consistently against the Glazers and loudly critical of many decisions made since Ineos took over. The other is afraid to show his face at Old Trafford and makes money by pretending to be a United fan in the most cringeworthy way possible to attract the views of rival fans. But, because he's consistently negative about everything to do with the club, you'll listen to him?

That's baffling.

I mean there’s awful takes and then there’s that.

Wow

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion but struggling to see how you came to this conclusion

“Goldbridge is the only person I listen to consistently that has the measure of the board and is not afraid to call out the nonsense and lack of ambition.”

He’s an ex police officer operating under a stage name that made a channel successful by monetising outrage through the YouTube algorithm- good luck to him - he was able to sell out to the media Group Neville fronts but I struggle to see him as a voice of reason and/or someone with UTDs or UTD fan interests in mind

Goldbridge isn’t even a United fan for feck sake. He doesn’t care one bit about the board, he says whatever he thinks will get him the most views.

He put a tweet up recently slagging off Carricks training and how every amateur club in the country is doing these sort of drills. Because he knows a large part of the fanbase are annoyed Carrick is the boss. Funnily enough he put a tweet up when Ten Hag was the boss about how a very similar drill was us finally being coached properly. He’s a clown.

I do think Mitten is softer on Ineos, and rightly so. in comparison to the other cnuts they’re fantastic.

fecking knew the low IQ commentary on social media about the board was originating from that cnut

Surely a WUM

Devils in the Details is a bit niche and not as regular as TOTD, but I do prefer it by a wide margin for insight into what's happening on the pitch.

TOTD is mostly useful if I want to know what information the club itself wants to feed the fanbase. This isn't a criticism of TOTD, it's just recognizing that Mitten and Whitwell in particular have and depend in part on ties to the club which could be compromised if they say the wrong thing. Don't begrudge Andy at all for the different role he's taken on in the last couple years, but he has more vested interest in toeing the club line than he did previously and that does come through at times.

Webby and O'Neill are absolute twats.

There was an infamous match between Salford City and FC United in 2007 where O'Neill was going around the Willows picking off small groups of FC fans and starting fights with them pre match.

He also appeared to be deliberately sabotaging the green and gold campaign in 2010.
