He's so good that it's worth mentioning twice.

€24 million for Samuel Eto'o.

Seriously, what were Madrid thinking.

Went and became a Barca legend to rub salt in the wounds.
Madrid could have taken up the buy back option I think but they didn't bother because they had 3 EU players already and 24.5m was a good deal. What a huge mistake that was from Perez and Madrid!

That second photo makes the 'poor man's Barca' thing all the more amusing.

Fact is he wasn't a starter and there was a limit back then on how many foreigners you could register in your 25 man squad. Think it was like 2 or 3 players.

Hummels only transferred 2009. Before that he was on loan.

Tim Cahill is a good shout but those smaller teams don't have as good say in this since they ultimately don't have success on a world level.

Eto'o - Barcelona to Inter. Swopping him for Ibrahimovic alone would be a great business, let alone getting paid to do that.

Petr Cech? nah.
No?! He might not be the best in the World, but he's been one of Chelsea's most important performers towards 3 Premier League titles, 2 League Cups, 3 FA Cups. He was a bargain.

Forlan to Villarreal.

2M, got the Pichichi and Villarreal into CL for the first time ever in that same season.

Moved on for 21M.
Good shout, he had 3 terrific seasons with them.

Sell on price isn't everything, as I see a lot are using that as a yard stick, but after the 04-06 seasons he gave them and more, fair play.

Well they did have his registration though not a formal contract and we did pay them a 'consideration'. This is obviously gripping their shit big time when they contemplate buying him back for 60M euros.
Didn't we give them Gio Van Bronckhorst as a goodwill gesture?

Fabiano was a failure at Porto

I think Kolo Toure to Arsenal was pretty cheap and they managed to flog him for big money. Porto and Sevilla have bought excellently for the last few years though

Absolutely, I don't care how much money is or isn't made on a deal. I just mentioned it because Forlan gave Villarreal some superb seasons, their golden spell (along with Riquelme, granted) and -cherry on the cake- left them with a 900% profit in the process.
