2/3 wins against Liverpool, City and Arsenal is pretty good, embarrassing loss aside.

I look forward to how we do against Spurs and Chelsea.

I think Arsenal should be ahead of us on goal difference. They have +1 and we're 0. Chelsea should be above Spurs as well.

Arsenal are fecking lucky their game against City was postponed, likely won't have to play them until after Christmas

I’m not taking gd into account. It was easier to update and move Arsenal up a line when typing from the phone.

Won 3 out of 4 against our big 6 rivals. Great stuff from EtH.

That's spurs with 1 point out of 12 if we include Newcastle into the mix?

The interesting thing about the "Big 6" who are expected to challenge for the Top 4 every season are most likely to become the Big 7 once Newcastle have a few more windows. However, that shouldn't really affect the ability of the other 6 to qualify for the UCL spots as I believe from next season we effectively get 5 spots in UCL. Hence, it's going to be the Big 7 competing for 5 spots so not much changes in that sense.

And the 2 that miss out will probably get in it via the Europa league. So could be 6 English teams in the CL. Who said the European super league wasn’t happening ?

How would the other 2 qualify? It’s just the winner of europa that qualifies ain’t it?

We’re halfway there in our matches vs our rivals, with a return of 10 points which is excellent. If we had better finishing that could reasonably be 12 points.

Interesting note about Newcastle as well. They’ve taken points against the big 6, bar Liverpool.

Not too shabby. Performance wise they're yet to be involved in a game where they were vastly superior to the opposition in the way Liverpool were vastly superior against City (could've been four or five), City were vastly superior against United, and United were vastly superior against Spurs.

Newcastle vs Man City 3-3 (Managed six shots on target against City, matched them in corners, Maximin was the best player on the pitch, and when they were 3-1 ahead they missed a golden opportunity to extend that to 4.)

Liverpool vs Newcastle 2-1 (Took the 98th minute for Liverpool to take the lead + Allan Saint Maximum unavailable through injury )
Liverpool equalized 5 minutes later.

Man Utd vs Newcastle 0-0 (Hit the woodwork twice and restricted United to just two shots on target at Old Trafford and the first side in the league to get a draw at Old Trafford. To put that into perspective, Old Trafford visits in the league this season includes home wins against Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs. Allan Saint Maximum unavailable through injury.)

Spurs vs Newcastle 1-2 (Allan Saint Maximum unavailable through injury)

Newcastle vs Chelsea 2-1 (It might be the worst Chelsea xl I've seen in over a decade, but can only beat what's in front of you + Allan Saint Maximum unavailable through injury)

I would be really impressed if Arsenal beat them convincingly, and even more so, if Allan Saint Maximum starts. I think Arsenal will be the first side from the group to beat them by a two goal margin.

Just told my Arsenal pal, whoever wins on Sunday will win the league. It's good to see some mathematics backing up that narrative.

Maybe you should add Newcastle on the list we get complete picture...

As you've said, whoever wins this mini league wins the league.

Great work @The Corinthian. Hoping City takes at least 4 points againt Arsenal and we just quietly continue picking up points. That last minute Palace draw and the defeat away to Arsenal still pisses me off. Timing of it all was just terrible, with an already thin squad. Could have been so much more interesting if we could hold on for a win and draw v Arsenal.

Agree - those late goals vs Palace and Arsenal were a real kick in the teeth (we would be 3 points better off).

Interesting thing is - we've played both City and Arsenal twice. City have played us, Spurs twice. Arsenal have played us and Spurs twice.

Arse and us have to go to Anfield still (both our records are horrendous there). City have the benefit of playing them at the Etihad. In fact, City's game at the Emirates in 10 days time is their last big six away game.

Chelsea I don't really see doing much in terms of the big six...hope they can nab a point of Arsenal and City when it comes to it.

Yeah still fuming just thinking about those Palace/Arsenal games/goals, but so it goes. And as you mention, still a fair bit of football to be played - and tricky fixtures for Arse especially. Hopefully City can grab a point or 3 at the Emirates to keep us within reach (pipe dream, i know)...

Here's what I said at the start - if we beat Chelsea, we'll be 3rd and the actual mini league table will reflect the actual table in terms of relative positions.

Should really have the top 6 adjusted at the end of the season. Chelsea and Spurs shouldn’t be there

How do Newcastle match up out of interest?
4 points vs. United
1 point vs. City
1 point vs. Arsenal
0 points vs. Liverpool
6 points vs. Tottenham
3 points vs. Chelsea and will play them away on Sunday

So 15 points, perhaps 18 at the end

"Top 7" Table:

City 25
Arsenal 23
Liverpool 21
United 15 (max. 18 possible)
Newcastle 15 (max. 18 possible)
Tottenham 8
Chelsea 4 (max. 10 possible)
