Television The Boys

Agreed this was a lot better and developed the characters a bit.

I think they did what you're suggesting with Firecracker in a way. She threw the Jesus figurine in the bin making her choice and it was the wrong choice with what happened in the next scene.

With her religion absolutely. But I think the character is tied to Starlight and her past, which is why I feel like they missed a trick not going back to it. If she goes to Starlight for help she almost does an A Train and redeems herself and can go out a hero opposing Homelander. At least teasing that fate would have been good. Instead it was a tease at being faithful to her religion and then ultimately discarding it showing she gave up everything for Homelander only to be discarded herself because she had doubts.

The first 40 minutes made for a dull watch. It picked up in the last 20-25 minutes, albeit the celebrity cameos felt a bit forced. Homelander and Soldier Boy are the only reasons I'm still watching. I've lost interest in all the other characters.

I'll deal with it for the Supernatural reunion. Now that was a show.

Annie/Starlight is the only character I enjoy seeing now. Every other character has warped so far from how they started that the dynamic and balance is gone.

Hughie, Komiko, Frenchy, MM, Butcher, what even is this team anymore. Sage, Ashley, Deep, Noir, Soldier Boy, just what in feck are they all doing? I miss Maeve. I dislike how everyone has plot armor now, so it’s just introducing a character to kill them off in the same episode, and make it as bloody as possible. At least when Claudia Doumit was part of the plot, it was unpredictable (and she was great), and heads popping remotely was scary.

The first couple seasons I was probably 75% on board with. The graphic violence was always too much, as was the general horniness of the show (Popclaw, Antman dick guy, invisible guy getting killed from an explosive up his ass, etc.), but those things were OTT just like the evil Justice League theme. Now it’s subtle as a sledgehammer and the humor is like one long awful SNL skit. Probably 25% on board this season.

This show needs to die, hopefully with an explosive up its ass.

Frenchie needs to die screaming and if he does go, don't try to make it poignant because I'll just be clapping my hands with glee. 5 seasons of that fecking accent.

"Petit Hughie..."

Nails on a chalkboard.

Tell me about it, it's nowhere near a real french accent either

first 3 seasons were good, then someone decided there should be more porn content/jokes than actual fighting scenes and now we have this.

Kimiko and Frenchie in particular are tough to both watch and listen, just pointless characters at this point. Soldier Boy on the other hand seems to be the slowest being on the planet now. both Frenchie and Butcher left him so far behind you would think it was pie eating champion chasing them.

it's still fun to watch, but I'm glad that this is the final season. the effort simply isn't there anymore and decline seems even more obvious if you're watching latest Daredevil show at the same time, which I still find fresh and engaging compared to this.

And none stop MAGA plotlines.

fecking hell its depressing to deal with in real life, ok its a relevant topic to explore somewhat but can't we have a breather at some point

Today I learned that "filler" means zero explosions and not just an episode where they develop or solidify a character's motivations before the ultimate climax. Huh.

For the record I enjoyed the fly episode of Breaking Bad so maybe I'm the one in the wrong.

Nah, feck it. I'm not even going to be bipartisan. You're all fecking idiots. The Terror POV was worth a million filler episodes...

I do wonder how Antony Starr felt filming those scenes

Sage is the perfect example of the writers not being smart enough to write a smart character. Awful.

100% agree. Completely disappointing after setting up great potential.
As for the episode itself the only explanation to introduce Bombsite and the old supes at this stage is they must play a part in the Soldier Boy prequel show. Otherwise it was kind of a waste of time to jam them all in here. They spent more time setting up the tension and relationship drama we will likely see in that show

Two more episodes to go and Frenchie and Kimiko looking at each other and giving a smile and nod. Well, with any luck, 'Omelandah lasers them both in the next episode.

I see they're running the finale in cinemas over in America. I assumed it would be feature length but apparently not, it's just a regular episode. If it was movie-sized, I may have gone if they ran it over here.

I had a look at the times of the last few episodes too. Only an hour each.

Story progressed but it's still shite. They just completely ignored the Gen Z story and focused on advertising the prequel TV show for Soldier Boy.

Predictable and a bit shite. I feel like theyl just rush the shit out of the final two episodes.

I’ve never seen a show use its season finale so transparently to promote the prequel. It’s like they realised just how much they’ve fecked this one up so they may as well set a running start on the new one

They don't really have the excuse of GoT and source material either. It's all there to work from. Also, it's the biggest show on baldy Bezos' platform so the money is surely there if they needed it.

The toilet humour is so overdone at this point that my reaction to the guy at the start powerhosing blood from his arse was...

Tell me about it.

After two shite filler episodes they just spent another hour advertising another TV show

It was a decent episode but feel like they will rush the conclusion after alot of filler this season.
I can't beleve we wasted this many episodes to get to that final scene, which everyone knew was going to happen from an absolute mile away.

Are there two episodes left?
I still kinda like it - it's not peak television in any way shape or form, but it's still entertaining and I've got abslutely no clue to how they end up closing it all out.

Im guessing

the main girl from Gen V plays a big role, given they built it up for an entire season. But then again it wouldn't be surprising if they scrapped that and wasted our time.

I don’t know the main girl from Gen V

I will say, I think that's the best Homelander episode for a long time. That scene with the Legend was brilliant.

the spoilers for e7 have been out for a while, the Gen V bunch will make an appearance but basically peripheral to the story
