Television The Boys

So much feckery in the show.

Bring up Ryan, break him down and forget about him.

Bring up Marie. Break her down and forget about her. And all the other Gen Z characters, mind.

Bring up Starlight in a finale season where she looks to level up on power. Break her down as she fannies about in filler episodes and can't even beat a jobber supe clean.

This entire season has literally been filler bollocks and / or adverts for the prequel. It's done the complete opposite in effect. I will actively avoid that shite for ruining the final season.
Ryan has to off the boss surely?

Ryan has to off the boss surely?

Yeah I agree with this, Ryan absolutely helps them kill Homelander.

I'd like to know how.

They did some other bullshit with Kimiko trying to turn into soldier boy which felt a complete waste.

I would have just written Marie to take the compound V out the bloodstream (they built up to this), and butcher finishing him off.

Ryan can have his arc saving innocent lives in the process by helping I suppose. Or maybe he kills Homelander, there's a lot of different directions they could have taken which would be a lot better.

I think he’s just part of it, maybe helping holding him down while Kimiko does her thing they will probably give her next episode.

The finale's plot has been leaked by someone who worked on it. Allegedly.

Avoid posting shit from there , goes without saying..

I might avoid the thread in the event some smart ass accidentally "predicts" what happens

It was more of a warning than a threat to be fair.

It’s just been so shit.

The irony of the show basically turning into what it used to mock by just promoting all these series and spin offs.

Cancelling Gen V looks even more insane now.

The Kumiko- Frenchy shit is finally over, whew. These writers really thought that’s what people wanted more of, astonishing. I don’t know how anyone could react with anything other than unbridled joy. At this point it’s an endurance test, a battle of wills against the makers of this show. You won’t break me.

Also, the cat and dog duo are pretty shit. You'd think they'd have more impressive supes to be in Homelander's inner circle.

Oh Father has been a small highlight this season though. He's entertaining.
Daveed Diggs is a Tony Award winning thespian. I’m kinda glad they put in that musical number for him to show his chops even though it was unnecessary to the plot

I watched the first season which I kinda liked, but then I stopped for some reason. Now I’ve watched the last 2 episodes in preparation for Homelander’s death, he will die right?

it had its moments, but ultimately it's been a pretty underwhelming season, just like the previous one.

at least the last episode had happy ending, except, I honestly hoped he would end like Black Noir in S3. good riddance, asshole.

I can't look at him without remembering all of the songs he used to sing on Sesame Street when my boy was little. Definitely can't look at him the same after the dildo scene.

Take his advice and treat your Sin Pit occassionally.

I binged this last year to catch up, so this is the first season i'm watching 'live' and my god, it's so poor. Really disappointing season. I hate what they've done with Kimiko for 70% of the season. I thought ep7 would give us a lot, but it didn't really. Just left us with a lot to answer going into Ep8.

Also, I've not watched Gen V. Should I know who Marie is (good chance i've forgotten), but has she been in 'The Boys' that much to now be coming into the story with an episode left?

This is the issue with the writing choices this season. They had 2 seasons of setup on Gen V linking it to what was going to happen on The Boys. Marie and the others had character development and plots that were supposed to mesh into this season we were lead to believe.

Now everyone who watches the Boys didn't see Gen V so at the very least they should have started integrating anyone who was going to need to be in the finale resolution much earlier. They had the space to tell better stories or use the characters better. But they choose not to.

In many cases they choose to just make a lot of the characters worse. Kimiko/Frenchie, Deep, I even think Butcher and Starlight are worse at this point. Starlight's powers are super inconsistent but I wont be shocked if multiple supes including Kimiko reach pinnacle power status in the finale.

I have zero faith in these writers landing this plane. Nothing so far leads me to believe there is any unified plan, any craft in their randomness. My guess is it’s going to be a loud, bloody, “shocking” conclusion that indirectly tells the audience to go feck itself, not unlike GoT.

Never seen that happen in the GOT thread honest. That guy just guessed what had already been leaked.

Nope she's only been in Gen V until this episode. As @Hamnat said this is the problem with using her now. It's going to be jarring for anybody who hasn't seen Gen V.

The entire season is weirdly paced, with no real sense of momentum. Episode 7 was one of the better ones of the season, but if you'd showed it to me in isolation before the season aired I would have guessed it was happening around the episode 3 point.

The episodes recently have felt so disconnected at times. Its like they have just thrown random thoughts out and have no actual plan to tie them together at all, or even link back to what occurred in the last one.

Very much feels like they have wasted half this season, and we now have one last episode where they have to actually progress and try and wrap everything up. Which isn't really possible.

Seems I was never as invested in the quality of story telling as some on here were. Brilliant premise to set up the initial building of the characters, however, after that, I find this season par for the course but just a bit aged as they run out of material for shock and satirical value. I'm Ok with it.

It was fine, and they made the obvious story choices it probably made sense to make.

The season as a whole wasn't good, but you can't really expect the last episode to rescue it.

This season has been pretty crap.
Yep agreed. The childish sex references and gross out sex stuff does nothing to enhance the story.

The first two seasons were much better, before the OTT sex stuff was added.

Also it seems like this season is a vehicle for launching the Soldier Boy series, more than anything else.

It was what I expected it to be. This season was utter crap.

Choosing to completely sideline Marie after the events of Gen V was an interesting decision. The V1 story also served no purpose in the end.

Honestly that was a decent enough finale.
I was worried with the penulimate episode but I think it was a 7/10. It was a sad but expected fate for most of them but a fine way to end the show and universe (I expect Vought Rising will flop)

Without giving spoilers, does it make sense to skip the season and go directly to the finale? I didn't enjoyed a single moment of the last season, and while I liked the third season, felt its ending was stupid and undid all of it. Effectively, I haven't enjoyed it since the first two seasons which IMO were excellent.

And reading the comments here, seems like this season was a dissapointment.
