The Bruno Fernandes appreciation thread

I'm glad he's staying.
I think the club dud the right thing in letting him decide, probably the only player we have that deserves that courtesy.
Looking forward to seeing him again next season. Signing some better attacking players might take the pressure off him a bit.

In 2 seasons time will you still think the same or will you think. Should have taken £100m plus when we had the chance.

Watch Amorim completely destroy Bruno’s legacy by playing him in midfield getting sacked along the way.

Or maybe he continues to oversee some of the best football of Bruno's career. Always exciting to see how the future plays out ay

He played there a couple of times and did quite alright. Problem is who he partners with and what the other's around him do.
Further forward behind the striker, with two more defensively astute midfielders.
Against opponents who run more than us and play high because they know we give the ball away in 3 seconds it showed that playing with 2 defensive midfielders is not a good idea.

Him and DDG are the only two players over the last decade that can hold their heads high. And they’re both hated by a loud section of the fanbase haha go figure.

Terrific player. He would literally start for every team in the world.

I think these kind of moments go under the radar as to what makes a good captain. Giving Mbuemo some protection as a bunch of blokes run onto the pitch, get close to their face and intimidate them. Sounds basic but so many other captains wouldn't be straight over there.

Only 4 midfielders have scored 100 goals or more in our club history

Sir Bobby Charlton
Ryan Giggs
Paul Scholes
Bruno Fernandes

What a player

Was Le Tissier a midfielder? I always thought he was the "number 10" of a front 2, similar to Cantona.

They are fantastic numbers from Bruno to be fair, but not selling him for 100 million when the opportunity was there is still a mistake in my opinion, especially if Amorim is going to play him out of his best position.

Le Tiss has a similar amount of penos to Bruno (25 vs 23) in those totals but played for Soton. Quite amazing.
More amazing is Scholes has a grand total of 1 PL penalty in that total.

Lampard has 43
It’s a strange one because it’s premier league players but it’s total goals. So somebody coming in to the league at their peak is judged against players making their debuts as teenagers onwards eg Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard.

It doesn’t differentiate position. Bruno has played more similarly in position to Lampard over the games he’s played, whereas Scholes played only a couple of seasons ahead of a midfield two.

Then there’s penalties because you’ve only got premier league penalties but the figure is total goals. Of the 100 goals 39 are penalties. This must be a huge outlier. Pretty much 40% of his goals in total are penalties.

Compared to Scholes 1 penalty, it would take Bruno another 140 games on average to get near Scholes efficiency, however now he’s playing a more typical Scholes position it would obviously increase…So really it’s a very misleading comparison table.

This is beautiful. My captain!

Our only true world class player. Leader, scores, assists, creates, always fit, gives everything every game.

If he leaves this summer we are fecked.

I think it’s fair to say that Bruno has been the best player in the league this season and should be favourite for the player of the year awards.

Judging by physique and playstyle i think he can keep this quality of play up for a couple of years more.

Only thing that worries me is that the massive amount of games hes played since joining, will catch up to him at some point. Hope we get prime Bruno for atleast 3 more years!

Best player in the league this season, in my opinion.
