The club treating loyal fans like sh*t again

Yes there has been a major clampdown - the club say it's to stop ticketing touting but its not clear what rules anyone has broken and no transparency in the appeals process

MUST/Fans Forum are on the case

What are the restrictions on passing your tickets Along to friends or family members? We have had season tickets to both NHL hockey and NFL football in the U.S., and couldn't imaging having to personally attend x percent if matches to be able to retain our seats.
If you trust them with your phone for several hours, then I believe that's the only way you can pass it onto them. Otherwise you'll need to sell your ticket back to the club.

No restrictions on passing on tickets although reading this there obviously is

You can forward on as many tickets as you like once they’ve membership

I think if you have a ST you or a bubble of maybe 2 additional family members should be at 17+ of the home games. I don’t think ST holders should be able to farm them out to random members.

There are too many that barely step foot in OT and have the ST for the sake of having it or making a bit of money on the side from the big games.

I said to my old man a year or two ago (we've both got ST) that the treatment of the club to their fans is shocking. Its simply because ST holders wont spend as much on a matchday as a day tripper.

I said to him a year or two ago, I fully expect ST to be a thing of the past in 5-10 years and I think it'll probably coincide with moving to the new stadium.

Not true at all - ST holders can forward their tickets to any other member but it has to be done officially

There is no restrictions on passing on your ST.

Officially, you have to either forward it to a member, sell it back to the club or donate it to charity.

The issue here seems to be the complete lack of transparency in relation to what the actual is. ‘Suspicious activity’ doesn’t really answer any questions and seems a bit odd.

It appears to be ST holders and I’m not sure what they’d be doing on their accounts. It’s not like there is tickets to buy!

Apologies. When I was ill for a match last season, I couldn't forward my ticket onto my mate, but he wasn't a member. Ignore me!

Yep.

I think a lot of people are closer to sacking it off now.

It's happening everywhere aswell. I know city fans who gave up last season and a couple of scouers after covid.

I believe they are accusing people of logging on to their accounts from multiple devices. I log in to mine on my phone and from my PC, usually to apply for away tickets.

A bit of money? Some charge a fortune, especially if they are domiciled outside of the UK. Often enough the sole intention is to make money

Yeah, that’s how I’ve interpreted it but imposing immediate sanctions like they have, for that allegation, feels way too OTT and like there is more to it.

I very much doubt that there is any rules in relation to our tickets that says you can only log on using one device.

I use my phone, laptop or iPad depending on what I am doing at the time and where I am.

I suspect it might be them knowing our main device and then the ticket on a match by match basis is being scanned on a different device at the turnstile

MUST, the Fans Forum, TRA and the 1958 need to get fecking militant now.

feck releasing statements. Action.

This is the final nail in the coffin for so many people of 20/30/40/50 years support.

Didn't realise you were a member on here, posted something about this earlier in the ticket sub forum as I had missed this. Credit to you for everything you are doing to help out fellow reds.

Needs a coordinated fightback this - know loads effected today. So upsetting.

They dont want season ticket holders. United are a big enough club to have most supporters go a handful of times per season at most whilst all going to the club shop & buying food, drink etc.

It’s a dangerous game to play as someone above said trading loyal, local supporters for tourists. Ticket prices should in my opinion be capped with a certain allocation always going to local supporters where possible. Manchester City are apparently going to trial it, I think it’s a great idea to ensure the dedicated local supporters continue to have access to watch their team in person.

Reading between the lines, it seems a lot of people have been sharing season tickets without tickets being forwarded in the proper means to someone, anyone, with a membership. Instead login details are being shared, and at times sold.

You would have to raise a request with the ticket office if you want to move your season ticket from one phone to another. The club would have this data to hand prior to renewals so why flag this now?

I genuinely think this is a cull for long standing season ticket holders.

Really don't like this. The club are really going to damage the home atmosphere over the sake of a few quid.

Yes, but that can be got around. People use burner memberships. I’ve noticed a couple of times when I have forwarded a ticket on to a supposed member that it has then been touted to a random person who turns up in that seat.

I imagine season tickets in the hands of touts, or where individual matches from a season ticket are being touted, are nearly always ending up in m burner memberships now.

I think there’s clearly a lot of account detail sharing that goes on… particularly when it comes to applying for aways. There will be whole groups where one person is logging into multiple accounts to apply for tickets to improve their chances in the ballot. They’ll know friends who don’t do away matches and will apply in their names as well.

I reckon that kind of account details sharing will be flagging a lot of fans up.

City are doing that in a ground they can’t already fill where tickets are freely available.

Still, it’s a decent idea. We’re not in Manchester but are in the North West. I think we should be behind any local in a ST waiting list

True, I think they’re going to be discounted as well as ticket prices are becoming a barrier for entry too.

This just seems like another loophole for touts has been closed.

Yes it sucks that people have to have memberships to transfer them tickets but on the other side of it, it allows club to identify everyone going into ground and ensure that, they're doing maximum to solve touting issue. I've had season ticket for 17 years now and have frequently seen seats next to or near me that are clearly owned by touts. Different guest every game confirming they bought tickets at premium.

It's shit and stops genuine fans from getting a chance to get to games so I don't mind this at all

Have you actually read what's been going on? Sorting out touts is one thing but cancelling a season ticket because a fan gave his mum access for one fecking game is absurd.

United aren't doing any of this to make it easier for genuine fans to get tickets. Another massive price hike will come next.

First they came for the 40 year season ticket holder but I didn't say anything because...

I just don't believe the "I only gave it to my mum for one game" line.

The way what I've read sounds to me is the people who have been contacted are logging into the same account from multiple divices on multiple locations.

Getting your mum an membership account for one ticket so she can attend the game is within the rules. I know this because when I'm away my wife or brother in law goes and I've transferred it legally and had no email or threat of suspension.

It’s more people logging in with multiple accounts on the same device I think that are getting flagged.

You just have to look at the number of applicants for each away game to know that it doesn’t make sense. Basically 1 in every 3 or 4 season ticket holders apply for each. There’s no way the genuine demand is that high.

Whatever 'logic' they are attempting to use. It has not worked. Whatsapp and Twitter full of people I know from going to game for years who have been flagged who would never dream of touting etc.

Example below of the chaos this is causing.

Am I being naive.

The e-mail i had today is not as aggressive as what they sent out on Friday.

I’ve explained that I run the bus and a few of the older lads are not tech savvy so with their permission I have logged into their accounts on my phone to sort.

One was when they updated the app and one boys phone stopped him applying for aways, so I linked him to his mates app ticketing.

The other time one of the older blokes Mrs was struggling to renew his season ticket.
She had been putting the wrong card number in and it took is ages to sort out and work it out.

They’ve pulled my daughters ticket as well, which I assume because I log into it on my phone to apply for her aways.

I’ve done feck all wrong but try and help people out.

Blanket banning 5k people with generic emails via an AI sweep

Peoples mental health being messed about with here.

Yeah suppose this too. The away games are a joke. I've only ever got 4 in all my years. It's so poor

Anyone thinking that ticket touting isn't an issue is burying their head in the sand.
United are definitely not the only club doing similar to this.
Yes it's a bit heavy handed and probably has caused pain for some innocent people, but it's probably also caught a fair amount of guilty parties who are making a shed load of cash from touting.

I think whilst 'day trippers' evidently bring in more money on the day, season ticket holders bring in guaranteed cash straight away at the start of the season, so the club isn't going to do away with that anytime soon.
