So, when will the Fernandes boom-bust cycle be introduced?
Stop this nonsense. We've been good since his arrival, but let's see a sustained run next season, before we go proper scouse-mode

After we've driven ourselves giddy with our latest run of good form, it may be worth it to remind ourselves that this is what the real table looks like.
Nobody is getting giddy but when you are going through a squad rebuild and show signs of genuine and significant improvement after elements of that rebuild it is extremely encouraging.

I'm sorry, but those calling this cringey are showing an extreme lack of understanding of the progress the club has made this season.

United now have a very good side and are playing better than when they had a front 4 of Pereira, Lingard, James and Rashford. But yes, I'm sure it's just a freak run of form.

This.

It's hard to see how we wouldn't have at least another 8-9 points with him on board from August.

Especially when you think of the pen misses at the start.
August? we could have got those additional points needed for Top-4 finish even we signed him on Jan1st. He is that good.

We're fifth in the only table that matters and heading for one of our lowest post-SAF points totals.

Please stop with this RAWK-esque nonsense. We have been mocking them for years for this kind of drivel, with good reason.

What is the purpose of this thread? Even as fans, we need to be focused on what we want to achieve. Which is challenging for and, hopefully, winning titles at the highest level. Such threads are just meant to create a confirmation bias that "Look! See! We're very good."

Whether we're actually good or not would be visible how we end this season and how we play in the next one. The actual table will show us our place. Not some crappy made up table.

It baffles me how a form table from when Fernandes signed can awake such negative emotions. Instead, would it be fine to make a table showing we are on our way to the worst season ever? Or maybe creating another thread named "6 games away from another disastrous season under Ole"?

Can't you see that this 'crappy made up table' is showing exactly what this though.
We're not declaring our champions based on half a season, we're seeing the positive developments that have been made in the team, particularly after the arrival of Fernandes, and suggesting that it's a good omen for next season and beyond.

Geez, if fans can't get optimistic about the future because of the performances and results of the second half of the season then what's the point. Let's just focus on the negatives I guess. Lingard, eh...GRRRRRRRR!!!

Even without this table, is anyone doubting that we've improved? We can go on creating multiple threads after every win as how we're the best team in the world this week.

When we we doing poorly, there were dozens of new threads every week about how bad our progress was, how Ole should go, how everyone was rubbish and that we were doomed for the next decade. Now we're doing well, positive threads about our progress are also bad?

It feels like half of the world just go online to complain about things. Almost endless content, but rather than spending time on content they enjoy, they prefer to spend their time moaning about the things they don't enjoy and telling people who do like it that they're wrong.

Sure. Didn’t mean to come in the way of the happiness provided by the Fernandes table.

But this is the exact stuff we mock when other clubs do so. And rightly so.

I'm completely on board with acknowledging that since the arrival of Fernandes we've dramatically improved our team performances as well as our results. There's nothing wrong with seeing that from different perspectives, but it is a bit cringey to track the "Fernandes table". There's only one table that really matters and I'm pretty sure Bruno himself would agree.

After we signed Fernandes, United have been the best team in the league (see final table). In my opinion, worth a mention.

Obviously we were not sure about him , in fact Spurs came closest to signing him during the summer and they were not sure either that he could transfer what he done in Portugal to the Premier league. They must be really kicking themselves.

We are lucky we go a 2nd chance in January and we were a bit desperate. But that is the way it works , he could have flopped as well as we have seen with other players who have a big name in a smaller league and move to a much bigger club.

But so far he looks tailor made for the big time and could turn out to be one of the best bits of business we have done for many years.
Fair comment. I recall reading a report about the concern on Bruno losing too many possession, not tracking back on defence etc. Hindsight is easy, and someone should have raised the doubt before we sign Sanchez in a hurry, right?

I would consider ourselves lucky, getting the "luck" finally after so many flop. So question should be how to rely more on professionalism and less on luck...

Hated by some, but here is the table since we signed Fernandes (14 matches).

1. Man Utd – 32 points
2. Man City – 30 points
3. Liverpool – 29 points
4. Arsenal – 26 points (GD +10)
5. Chelsea – 26 points (GD +6)
6. Tottenham – 25 points (GD +8)
7. Wolves – 25 points (GD +8)
8. Burnley – 24 points
9. Southampton – 21 points (GD +2)
10. Sheff Utd – 21 points (GD -2)
11. Everton – 19 points
12. West Ham – 16 points (GD 0)
13. Brighton – 16 points (GD -8)
14. Leicester – 14 points (GD -2)
15. Newcastle – 14 points (GD -8)
16. Crystal Palace – 13 points
17. Bournemouth – 11 points (GD -11)
18. Watford – 11 points (GD -13)
19. Aston Villa – 10 points
20. Norwich – 4 points

Final standing stolen from here:

GD?

Maciek's table of Bruno Fernandes table
32 United
31
30 City
29 Pool
28
27
26 Arsenal, Chelsea
25 Spurs, Wolves
24 Burnley
23
22
21 Southampton, Sheffield
20
19 Everton
18

16 West Ham, Brighton
15
14 Leicester, Newcastle
13 Crystal Palace
12
11 Bournemouth, Watford
10 Aston Villa

----------------------------------------------

Conclusion?
1. Leicester form is too terrible since February, just above relegation battle.
2. Arsenal improved their form since February but not enough to reach top 6.
3. Pool's form drop off to their 'normal' level. Their form in the 1st half of the season is just ridiculous.

 You guys need to chill!

So many posters are triggered by this thread.

Look, it depends on how you use it.
Celebrate the Bruno table, then that's... "get out you".
Use it to see the form or how teams did ever since February then it is an interesting sight to see.

Calling it 'Bruno table' maybe a bit much, a neutral way would be 'Table since Bruno arrived' but that's lacking branding or lacking impacts. Basically, that sound so lame.

Before Bruno
P24 GF 36 Pts 34

Since he signed
P14 GF 30 Pts 32

We only got 2 points less despite playing 10 less games since he signed.

Just shows how much impact the right signings can have.

Form Table from Match day 25

What's very intriuging about the "Fernandes Table" is the Goals scored and goals conceded. You can see from the link that our goals (30) scored was only second to man city (37). But our defence was the best in the league having only conceded 7 goals.

Whats even more strange is if you break down those 7 goals we conceded, every single one of them should have been avoided as they were individual errors. That tells us that as a defensive unit we've actually been very impressive. The errors are the only reason it wasn't an incredible run.

This was our last 14 games since Bruno signed:

Wolves - Clean sheet
Chelsea - Clean sheet
Watford - Clean sheet
Everton - 1 conceded (De Gea howler kicking it against Calvert Lewin)
Man City - Clean sheet
Spurs - 1 conceded (Shaw, Macguire and De Gea a series of calamities)
Sheff Utd - Clean sheet
Brighton - Clean sheet
Bournemouth - 2 conceded (Macguire nutmeg and dea gea shocker at near post. Bailly dubious handball and penalty)
Villa - Clean sheet
Southampton - 2 conceded (Pogba gives ball away first goal. Shocking defending on corner in last minute Macguire/AWB marking each other)
Palace - Clean sheet
West Ham - 1 conceded (Pogba volleyball antics)
Leicester - Clean sheet

The clean sheets go further back, more precisely to when Matic came back into the starting XI. First 20 games, 0 CS in the 17 games Matic didn't start. 2 CS in the 3 he did start. Fred/McT might offer more energy and pace but they don't have the positional awareness to play DM. And Matic is also far better at linking defence with attack. So he was the main reason we shored up defensively imo.

But Bruno has certainly elevated us to the next level defensively. Two reasons mainly. Firstly, his work rate is excellent, he's a proper team player and he has high demands, that alone was an improvement on our previous no. 10s. Lingard to be fair to him also has great work rate but he doesn't have any other qualities so his work ethic wouldn't rub off on or inspire his teammates. Secondly, opposition teams are now scared to commit too many men forward because they're too scared of Bruno on the counter. And when you don't commit enough men forward you're obviously going to be less likelier to score. If you give him the time and space with the skillset of our front 3, you're simply asking for big trouble. Whereas in the first half of the season team weren't afraid to commit men forward because all they needed was protection on Martial and Rashford. Apart from those two we didn't have real counter attacking threat. Pereira/Lingard would be in that Bruno role and they'd feck up possession most times.

Our metamorphosis is complete... we now have imaginary tables that we are top of. Ffs, now all we need is a boom bust cycle diagram and a few supporters claiming we'll do a treble! Next year is our year!

Or they dropped off once securing the title is the more logical explanation. The loss to Arsenal, draw with Burnley, margin of loss with City clearly indicate a team that is taking its foot off the pedal ever so slightly.
