The Former United Youth/Reserves Thread

Luca Scanlon seems to have been quietly added to Gibraltar's senior squad along with his brother ahead of the match vs Faroe Islands tonight.

Replaced James on the 82nd minute. Must have been a nice moment

Kieran Morrison, who was with us until U14s, makes his debut for Liverpool against Palace tonight. Very good player.

Nehemiah Oriola made his Premier League debut for Brighton today.

Jack Kingdon captained Cardiff in the EFL Trophy today. Bit of a quirk as they just played with a full U21s squad but in the record books he'll go down as having captained Cardiff at 19.

Zidane Iqbal will leave Utrecht. Hasn't featured at all this season, partly because he was demoted to the reserves. No he has to leave the club, because of disciplinary reasons. Absolute flop for FC Utrecht (my local club)

Why? I got the impression that he had a good 24/25 season.

Naahh, he ended fairly strongly, but at the beginning he was injured, then was in and out of the squad for the majority of the season (and he was once boo'ed of the field whilst being subbed). He did however end relatively strong. I actually don't know what happened in the summer and at the beginning of the season. He didn't feature and was then sent to the reserves. All in all, he has been very underwhelming for Utrecht, even when on the pitch (most of the time)

Edit: I had a look at an FC Utrecht fansite to see what the consensus was there and most posters seem to rate Iqbal and blame Ron Jans (manager) for misusing him on the pitch and not managing his character in the right way off the pitch. I don't know how much truth there is in there; FC Utrecht is not doing well at the moment, and in those instances there is always some glorification of the players who don't feature (United has had a lot of that in recent times). For information, Iqbal mostly played as a 6 for Utrecht.

I saw Utrecht play against my Norwegian team Brann - and he was really poor in that game - but he of course wasn't alone.

D'Mani Mellor, Luis Lacey & Cameron Borthwick-Jackson all part of the Macclesfield side that has just beaten Crystal Palace.

Adam Lawrence has already stepped down as Newcastle U21 coach. Not quite sure what happened but would happily take him back.

That was quick..

His old job might be vacant soon, though not sure if he'll want to be back with u-18

Adam Berry has left Nottingham Forest and signed for Al-Kholood in the Saudi Pro League.

Luca Scanlon scored for Burnley U18s in a 2-1 defeat to Man Utd

Article about Nehemiah Oriola. Seems like he's highly rated at Brighton. Also interestingly-

Oriola left United by mutual consent in summer 2023, joining Brighton in a deal which includes a sell-on.

Seems to be doing very well at brighton anyway and is on the cusp of first team involvement.
He has nine goal involvements (five goals, four assists) in 15 appearances for the under-21s this season, three of those goals coming in International Cup fixtures against Benfica (1-1), Paris Saint-Germain (2-2) and Dinamo Zagreb (2-0).

Andy mitten said this as well, he is on cusp of breaking through, He did hint some londoners find it tough to play in the north.

Dylan Levitt signed with Leyton Orient. Moorhouse leaves and he comes in..
Thought he'd have a more successful career

Shoretire looks like finally having a breakout season. He is in Zwolle, in Dutch league, and is playing pretty good, especially recently. He scored 4 goals since New Year, 2 against AZ Alkmaar in a win and one against Twente in 1:1 draw.

Since the start of this year, he has been their best player. Wouldn't be surprised if one of the bigger clubs go for him in the summer

Goal for Joe Hugill against Celtic on his first start for Kilmarnock. Also involved in another goal with a nice pass.
