Not the greatest, but probably worth a mention: Henry at Barca?

I also haven't seen Firmino being mentioned. Similar role to Benzema. Mandzukic is another one.

Probably sounds silly, but Suarez imitating the keeper is also worth a shout.

Chicharito at United and Madrid being okay with playing second fiddle throughout most of his career, perhaps.

"Super sub" Ole.

Why was he almost always a substitute? He never complained ever during his tenure. He did say much, much later that he didnt feel like a sub and felt he could easily start, but it only motivated him to "prove the boss wrong [by scoring] when he would be let in on the pitch".

To be fair, Messi reciprocated and was never a selfish prick like RC9. On more than one occasion he even visibly let Suarez score when he had a clear chance himself, and that time in 2018 when he let Suarez take the penalty instead of completing a hat trick himself.

Neymar is an arsehat like RC9

 Now that you mention it, maybe that is what Phil Jones is doing, as well?
Just recently, Neymar was already lined up for a penalty in the UCL but gave the ball to the struggling and just subbed in Cavani instead. Of course that didn't get much media coverage because it doesn't support the imageof the hateable prick that is selling so well.

Good to know. Maybe under that heavy coat of a monster there is a tiny sliver of a human, after all :)

Dennis Bergkamp?
Hardly. He was a fantastic creator, but not a sacrificial player; not really useful off the ball and not what you'd call a hardworking player. Riquelme is a more extreme example, of course, but he it's the same story with him, they did not sacrifice any of their strengths to fit in. Look at Rooney, who had spent half of his career playing deeper and moving out wide to suit other attackers, even though he was a striker by nature, that's the kind of players this thread is looking for.
