The wish to go when people still see you at the top of your game I guess. He also retired from the french team even though it's obvious he could have continued.
Let's hope the fact a team like United and a manager like Sir Alex want you so much makes him realise there's no point in ending it all when you can still do so much.
McClair said that during the later parts of the seaosn, when he was already 30+, he used to think 'I'm gonna retire, I've had enough of the pain', but once you get away in the summer you realise you don't want to go.
