The Lionesses: ENG v Swi (Tu 19:45 ITV4) | + Euro Quals for Wales, Ireland, NI, Scotland & others

England 3-4 Germany and no logical explanation for why the teams were playing that badly. It was fun at times but ultimately, England in particular were just making so many dumb errors that I'm not sure how we kept Germany down to four. I hope Wiegman learned something, because it won't be fun watching England playing like that again.

Meanwhile, in the Euro qualifier matches today:
Slovakia 2-1 Wales
Hungary 0-1 Scotland
Croatia 1-1 N. Ireland
Georgia 0-6 RoI
Return legs on Tuesday.

I don't know really. You'd think these friendlies would be a good moment to try them out properly. Equally I get that she thinks the core of the team will be the Euro winners.

It's just frustrating to watch players who are out of form for their clubs including some like Williamson who've been struggling with injuries not getting switched out early when things aren't going well.

Leah Williamson is a big problem at the moment - as Euro winning captain I can understand why Sarina is still loyal to her but she's not yet reached the level she was before the injury

I would assume we will see some changes on Tuesday

Another friendly for England and not surprisingly we see the other half of the squad in action:

Clinton and Le Tissier start.

So do Greenwood and Earps from our old timers.

Clinton & Maya are the future of this team -need get them integrated ASAP

Clearly Sarina feels Williamson needs to be played back into form because she doesn't deserve to be starting based on performances

Leah Williamson scores England's first. Corner gets pushed on by Naz and Williamson's shot goes into the corner of the net.

Grace Clinton rescues England after some too casual defending. England still lead 1-0

Under hit pass from Leah Williamson near the halfway line and South Africa get a goal back on the break 2-1
.

NI (v Croatia) and Wales (v Slovakia) qualifier matches are now both in extra time after finishing level on aggregate.

Scotland and RoI both looking comfortably through now.

Tonight's qualifier winners go to a second round of qualifiers at the end of November.

England do just enough to win 2-1. Decent first half from England but South Africa could have won it in the second. Looks like it's some combination of sloppy play and a formation that leaves the centre backs with too much work to do that makes England look wide open too often.

In the qualifiers - Wales and NI score in extra time in their matches to go through.
RoI and Scotland went through their qualifiers comfortably.

Quick mention for the Young Lionesses who are playing semifinal in the U17 World Cup tonight

Killer Nations League draw as Lionesses end up in group with Spain

This also serves as a quiz for which national team badges you can identify!

Oof. Scotland have to face Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria. That’s a tough group.

TBF all A Groups in the Nations League are going to be tough whether it's Mens or Womens - I do actually like this format where every game is a challenge with no mismatches

Lionesses messed up last time so ended up in Pot 2 - Scotland and Wales in Pot 4

True. It’s like how in men’s football, we’ve had to face Poland, Portugal, and Croatia and so far have lost every game.

England have already qualified for next summer's Euros. Accordingly, they've got friendlies against the USA and Switzerland lined up for the international break.

Wales v Ireland 7:15
Scotland v Finland 7:35
These three matches are live on BBC iPlayer.

Didn't realise it was Wales v Ireland - suppose it guarantees one getting through at least

Good luck to them all !

Norway already two up against Northern Ireland at 15 minutes in. Not looking like there's much chance of a ranking and odds defying win for NI this time.

Wales v Ireland is 0-0 after 8 minutes. This should be a much less lop-sided match than the NI-Norway game, though the form book does favour Ireland.

Fishlock to Woodham and Wales are a goal up. Match started very scrappy but the goal came after a decent bit of play. 25 minutes played now

Norway lead NI 3-0 nil - 40 minute played

Ireland equalise. The Welsh goalkeeper will have nightmares over that one. Shot hit the crossbar then bounces in off the back of the keeper's head.

NI 0-3 Norway at HT. Norway have had over 80% possession so I'm guessing NI are relieved it's only three.

FT in all the matches and they all went pretty much as the form book would expect them to - even down to the Scotland v Finland match being goalless.

Northern Ireland 0-4 Norway
Wales 1-1 Ireland
Scotland 0-0 Finland

Bit too much Chelsea - no way Carter or Charles are better players than Alex Greenwood but it's just nomination I suppose

Some decent numbers from yesterday.

Sadly the home fans didn't really get rewarded for their support last night.

In the Euro qualifiers:
Portugal v Czech ended up 1-1
Wales v Ireland another 1-1

As Switzerland are next summer's Euros home, they played a "friendly"
Switzerland 0-6 Germany
Not that friendly to the hosts there!

Of course, England v USA tonight is also a friendly.

The combination of WCL football, Lioness and WSL champions makes some players hard to ignore.

Certainly Alex Greenwood would come higher on my list than some of those, but she's not an England regular and City aren't WCL regulars. It's tough to get noticed like that.

Line ups out

No United players starting. Grace Clinton and Millie Turner on the bench for England. Maya le Tissier is following a concussion protocol, but she is with the England squad and has actually done some training. Ella Toone is injured, probably not back for United until the new year.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce is with the US squad but not named in the matchday squad for this one.

15 minutes in and most of the attacking has come from the US team.

Ended goalless. The US team always looked the more likely to score but Earps did enough to keep them out. Wiegman wi probably be relieved after the madness of the match against Germany a few weeks back.

Shame for the recording breaking crowd to just get a 0-0, it was relatively entertaining still

Some big players missing from both teams but USA were pushing more for the win and seemed Sarina was happy to stick with a draw

Friendly international
England v Switzerland 7:45 at Bramall Lane
Live on ITV4

Saturday's match against USA looked like England trying to look less clueless than they had done against Germany. They had a decent enough night defensively, though with some narrow escapes. They did very little to look convincing in attack.

Perhaps tonight's match is about showing that England can score goals against the middle of the pack at least.

Meanwhile there are also a bunch of matches in the Euro qualifiers tonight - these will decide the last 7 places in next summer's Euros. Amongst them:

Tuesday 3 Dec - Euro qualifiers 2nd legs
Norway v N. Ireland 5:00pm (Norway lead 4-0)
Finland v Scotland 5:15pm (0-0)
Ireland v Wales 7:30pm (1-1)

These three matches are on BBC online.
Ireland v Wales is also on BBC3.
