The Lionesses | WC quals - v Iceland 12:30 Saturday ITV

4-0 now. Mead with 2, Hemp 1, Stanway 1. 25 minutes played.

Painful night for China.

So it seems like Wiegman has finally accepted that MLT is a centre half, and a very good one at that? I think this is her third game in a row in that position for England.

The quality even at the highest level is cack.

Now, instead of jumping down my throat with abuse let's have a grown up conversation as to why you think it isn't.
Says an entire sport is ‘cack’. Demands a ‘grown up conversation’.

And then when I suggest the newbies is cack, which I don't actually think I just wanted to give rope, he took it personally and edited his post to call it abuse.

So, again @WeStandUnited, going by your own words and logic, I ask: Why do you think it's okay to abuse women? Let's have a grown up conversation here, let's not hide away. If you are worried about your post count, start a thread in the newbies and tag me and we'll talk there, no place to hide then.

Terrible night for China. Ok, so it's the halfway point between two WWCs, China are in a rebuilding phase and it was a friendly, but that was poor. England started fast and the forwards all wanted to score - fun for the kids at Wembley but not much of a contest.

England play Ghana on Tuesday night and I've no idea what to expect from that match - except I reckon the Ghanaian team will defend better.

As a warm up for our WC qualifiers, I'm not sure how much it was worth. MLT looked good, as you'd expect. Toone was quiet but still got a goal and three assists - hopefully she'll get some rest on Tuesday night. United need her.

WWC27 qualifiers start in March. England's group comprises Spain, England, Iceland, Ukraine. Yep - Spain again - it's basically a Nations League Group A. Top team in each A group qualify for the WWC. The other three teams in an A group get another shot at qualifying through the playoffs.

After making Ella & Maya play 90mins, I'll not be happy if Sarina plays them again midweek !

I understand your concern, but I think both players thrive on playing every possible minute of every game.

Decent qualifying test. Makes games competitive.

I'm sure they want to play, especially Maya who is battling for a England spot but it's bad for United - these two already been showing signs of fatigue this season

Plus these friendly matches are a complete waste of time in my opinion - Sarina should have used it to blood a few more of the new players

Our own Keira Barry (currently on loan) was POTM for U23 Lionesses Vs USA

Eight changes in the starting lineup for this one - lots of swaps in the midfield and attack.

England XI: Moorhouse, Bronze, Hinds, Walsh, Le Tissier, Wubben-Moy, Park, Kendall, Beever-Jones, Kearns, Kelly.

Subs: Charles, Baggaley, Stanway, Russo, Hemp, Toone, Mead, Blindkilde Brown, Roebuck, Clinton, Denton, Godfrey.

Maya le Tissier and Jess Park start. Ella Toone on the bench.

Not happy to see Maya start again - she's played too much this season already

Good to see a few new names in the mix though

Women's football then...

We stand united - unless it's women.

Anyway, I expected more from china the other day. 8-0 is damning.

I think England can smash a few more tonight.

Cross from Chloe Kelly fumbled by the Ghanaian defender and Lucia Kendall scores 5 minutes into her England debut. England lead 1-0

This seems like a useful training exercise for quite an experimental England team, much more so than the massacre of China. The ref seems to be letting Ghana’s defenders get away with a lot, which is making it a good physical contest.

England lead 1-0 at HT.
Decent work from Ghana, who are putting up more of a fight than China did, but England could have done better with their chances

Meanwhile in the women's nations league:
Spain win the trophy. Spain 3-0 Germany (and that was also 3-0 on aggregate) in the final.
There's also a third place play-off match and that's gone to extra time with the score 3-3 on aggregate. Zigiotti, Sandberg, Rolfo all started this one. Malard started in the first leg but hasn't appeared yet tonight.

Elsewhere:
Wales beat Switzerland 3-2
Scotland beat China 3-2.

Aitana Bonmati - current women's Ballon d'or - fractured her tibia in training this week. I've not heard an estimated return date yet.

Erin Cuthbert went off on a stretcher in Scotland's match tonight.

England win 2-0. Late penalty converted by Russo.

France scored in extra time against Sweden to win the Nations League third place play-off. Zigiotti played the full 120 minutes.

Tough for Sweden. They really ahve picked up again in latter years. We’re lucky to have gotten a few of them into our team. And I say this as a Norwegian.

Maya le Tissier and Jess Park start. Looks like MLT is at right back.

Glad to see Blindkilde-Brown is finally given another start. Other young midfielders - Kendall, Kearns and Symonds were given chances and seemed to be ahead of her

Tough for both sets of players tonight - standard stadium with a tiny crowd. Ukraine have moved the match to Turkey tonight.

There was even a question mark over whether the match could go ahead at all with airspace closing over neighbouring countries. Not many England fans have made the trip.

Meanwhile on the pitch, England have the ball and keep pouring forward. Still goalless though.

England have had 85% possession and have spent most of the game deep in the Ukraine half. England have had 15 shots with 4 on target and one that bounced down off the crossbar back into play versus 0 shots.

But the only stat that matters at HT
Ukraine 0-0 England

Ukraine get one back.

One attack from a freekick - one goal!

Stanway scores from the penalty spot and that's 3-1 to England.

Nice work from Stanway and a lovely shot from her and that's England 4-1 up.

A Jess Park for United sort of goal there and that's Ukraine 1-6 England.
