The Conor fight is at welterweight isn't it? I have him as favourite anyway but it'll be interesting to see if he prepares his body properly or goes the route of the first Poirier fight at LW.

Yep, McGregor fight is at 170, 3 rounds. I've seen some videos of McGregor, his body and head are so bloated from all the coke and juice, his piss would melt anything it touches, like xenomorps blood.

What made it more interesting for me is that the presentation was a bit of a throwback to old late 2000s UFC, possibly with a bit of pride mixed in. If they continue doing these events, they need to focus on slightly younger fighters - perhaps those who have fallen out with Dana and been subsequent released - to make it more interesting.

Another option would be for MvP to strike a deal with PFL to do monthly Netflix events, which would give them access to a far broader roster of fighters.

Ultimately, this will be good for MMA as it will light a fire under Dana and the UFC to start making their cards a bit more interesting, or else continue to lose viewership to newer promotions.

Already happening with the timing of the announcement of McNuggets v Max.

Hopefully MVP have a plan beyond these old timer fights though.

I'm glad I skipped and just watched the highlights.

Don't think they will be doing any big show any-time soon. They surely are losing money (not taking into account the betting market and match fixing).

Can we talk about how the MMA market has became incredibly restricted ?

No Bellator. PFL struggling. So free agency is either you go to the UFC for very limited money until you become champ or stick to whatever lower promotion you're at...unless you go to BKFC which not everyone gets an offer basically.

No Pride, no Strikeforce, what options do promising top prospects got ? Or veterans who have a solid career but are looking for one last chance to shine with good money ?

We need to hope MVP are actually into this and can become a legit alternative. It would benefit the MMA space as a whole. With the numbers they apparently got on Netflix, this can be a possibility. Ideally they'd buy out PFL to gain a proper roster and convince UFC fighters to come over for better pay/incentives.

Absolutely, I mean...we need someone or a group with a vision. Sign top prospects from the regional scene who the UFC has not picked up. Find out which UFC veterans are on expiring contracts. Travel the world and find out hiddem gems everywhere. It's easier said than done as the UFC has got a solid structure for picking up new talent but essentially it looks like Scott Coker was the only person in the world outside of Dana White who knew how to promote.

Though it's doubtful any promotion would become a serious long term alternative causing the UFC legit trouble, we need at least two or three serious promotions in the market who will not fall after spending too much cash or after their top fighters leave for the UFC... I wonder why the japanese ones like ONE or Rizin have never become something like Pride in terms of popularity and top talent quality ? As long as Japan has the right people behind, there's serious potential in there.

Hahaha I swear I had absolutely no idea. Hopefully he's got a serious plan and it's not a desperate attempt to get back. MAYBE it means Fedor could fight ? They usually work together, pretty much.

Sadly it won't matter. As long as there's a UFC and one or two competing promotions, Coker won't have much success imo since the overall MMA market seems to be fading in recent years.
 
I believe Ilia gets it done but am I wrong that the odds on Gaethje look quite interesting? He still has knock out power and I'd imagine will be quite a bit bigger.

I think its really unfair to single out Mcgregor for taking performance enhancing drugs at that time when he was taking a tonne of other drugs too.
 
Just watched the UFC Freedom 250 press conference, I know it's juvenile but the way Hokit acts is pretty entertaining. I feel like Ilia didn't do himself any favours by constantly telling Hokit to shut up.

I was really hoping Paddy would beat Gaethje so we could see Ilia Vs Pimblett as the lead up to the fight would have been insane and for the same reason it would be interesting if Pereira and Hokit both win as I think Dana would match them up next. The contrast in personality would make a pretty entertaining build up.
 
I had assumed the UFC event was tonight, as per, only to find out a few hours ago that it's tomorrow night. Hope Poatan knocks "fingers" out and makes history.
 
Dana White could be the next president, he’s a quality sh*t talker, does well bullying off the cuff. All you need to capture MAGA.
 
They got very lucky with the weather missing just south and north. Big band of rain doesn’t look like it will make it there before event is over.
