Hard one to take but we have come so far from Kenny’s ridiculous management. Pretty much sure to be a home team at Euro 28. Our dentist manager knows what he is doing.

I know people will be loving the effort and journey, the usual heartbreak etc. I don't understand players giving away stupid penalties in non dangerous positions.

Football is all about momentum and that idiotic shirt pull changed everything. Don't want to see Manning being given any abuse but he really cost us today

How is nothing being made of their player deliberately targeting Szmodics? The replay clearly shows him ignoring the ball in the air, looking at Szmodics and smashing him. Absolute cnut.

Yeah we’re not a strong side at the best of times. Take a few important players out and we’re in deep shit. Once the dust settles we’ll realise what a massive uphill battle this really was.

Still fecking sucks how close we came, mind you.
If we managed to get to HT 2-0 up the game would have been so different.

Game was 100mph from start to finish

Pity we dont have anyone to put foot on the ball and slow tempo down.

2 nil up no talent there to just take step back and say let's keep it simple here.

Poor Troy sounds absolutely heartbroken. Seamus Coleman never getting to a World Cup is a feckin travesty. Suspect he may throw in the towel after the Qatar game (which might help the FAI shift tickets)

You'd get sent off in rugby for that. It was a clear red card, just shoulders him mid air with no intent to play the ball, but the ref just let them away with that shit all game. 25 fouls - 1 yellow card, that just emboldened them to keep going.

Even after sleeping on it still beyond pissed at Manning. Can't recall the last time I've been so annoyed at one individual Ireland player as much. It's just feck me we were on top they were really rattled and he handed them a lifeline

He's a fecking clown.

Totally inexcusable. He was even on the right side of the attacker and he still shit the bed.

Sure, but he definitely fell unconscious again later if so. Heimar commented on it. This report is accurate.
Heimir didn’t seem to know how to articulate consciousness in the interview after. I suspect it might have been a language issue.

Yep, exactly what I said. Bunker review and red card.

In rugby, it's very clear that it's foul play if your intent is to take out an opponent. They were doing it all night with body checks.

Is it just a football blindspot that wiping out a player with your upper body can be just as dangerous as a two footed tackle? And in Szmodic's case, even more dangerous.

I think targeting a player in the air with no intention of playing the ball should be a straight red card. I've noticed it creeping in a bit more lately, even when I was playing and it definitely needs to be stamped out. Incredibly dangerous, especially if you land wrong, at best you might get winded, but at worst you get knocked out or if you land awkwardly, you could seriously feck up your knee. Which I've seen happen.
