The government are all talk, they can have no official involvement in the decision to play or not to play. They said they will "support the FAIs legal right to play the games" but ultimately the decision is with the FAI to make. Who will really only be thinking about money. They don't want to lose hosting rights for Euro 2028. I'd say that's been made quite clear to them.
They'll also be happy if they can still host a few Euro games and all the lads from the FAI and the government can get in a few pictures together and take credit for whatever money comes with it.

Sounds like that's going to get done. I hate West Ham but a season as an important player in the championship with probably the best team in the league should mean a fair few goals. Hopefully they give him a fair crack if they get straight back into the PL.
Needs to stay away from England if possible and defintely away from West Ham. Has come on leaps and bounds since he went to the Netherlands. Would love to see him in La Liga or Bundesliga
I don’t think so. West Ham is a graveyard for strikers. They could also very easily make an absolute balls of the Championship. He’d be coming back to play in one of the most attritional leagues in the world. He’s far better playing and scoring regularly in, for example, the Netherlands or the Bundesliga.
None of which mentions the fact that while I think he’s good, I suspect he’s not good enough that West Ham wouldn’t be trying to replace him if they got promoted. So he’d either be on the bench, or be back into that cycle of shitty moves to clubs that struggle.
Yeah fair enough. From my very outside view it looks like he's signing fora team likely to boss the Champ and have a 20 goal season on a plate. But I take your wider view.
I'm hopeful this would go well, but yeah, echo some of those concerns too. Would prefer him to go elsewhere in Europe.

What’s happened to Evan Ferguson lately? If he had delivered on his early promise and Parrott continues to develop then that’s a pretty encouraging forward line.
Last I heard, he had a surgery on his ankle in March which finished his season. Before that, he was doing sorta fine but the manager seemed to dislike him and prefer the team without him. The Irish football podcast i listen to (the Second Captains) gave updates every few weeks of some critical comment from Romas manager.
That doesn’t sound great. Hope he turns it around. Unless I’m remembering wrong, he was a very exciting prospect at Brighton and could drop into the 10 role at times? If he gets his career back on track there’s some good forward options for the Republic of Ireland up front.
Yeah I'm struggling to get past West Ham being a place where promising strikers go to die but that's in the Premier League. There's a good chance they do well in the Championship which would give Troy a chance to fill his boots, then become a PL striker with a bit of momentum behind him.
So maybe, just maybe...
Going to the Championship is surely a backward step for a player who has enjoyed quite a career resurgence.

He was a step off in LoI and you could see the frustration mounting. Funny to see him get sent off at Oriel in person, but Derry seems a mess at the moment.
They were a mess akin to Amorims time st United. There is faith in the new DoF to get things going the right way and sacking Lynch and getting shot of McClean is a good start
