That result was an aberration though.
We actually took the lead.

The substitutions killed us but MON gambled and lost.
Christian Eriksen was also at his peak, he got named in PFA Team of the Year that season. Destroyed us with that hat-trick. They don't have anyone as good anymore.

Not thinking about Denmark yet, my focus is on Czechia. Their squad seems similar in quality to Hungary. Their striker, Schick, is their best player. Aside from that, they don't have much I would fear. Lot can happen between now and then.

First two goals were very preventable also. The other 3 were also but the first two most important.

We had a few chances also.

It wasn't the thrashing the scoreline suggests.

Denmark will fancy themselves though.

Arrogant, vain people.
They can pin that to the dressing room wall.

They have a couple of decent players alright, Coufal, Soucek & Schick are probably their biggest in terms of quality and experience. Couple of decent young players in Karabec & Vitik. But overall should be even enough in terms of ability throughout the squad.

Both teams will think they have a chance and that could lead to a very open game.

I was going through our playoff history. Which I know is not good. In my memory the only time we won one, was for 2002 vs Iran - but somehow forgot two far more recent ones. Both for the Euros. We beat Estonia over two legs for 2012 and Bosnia for 2016

If we can get past the Czechs, who aren’t great and lost to the Faroes which is even more embarrassing than our Armenia result. I think we will do it

Bundle ?

They'll just sell them on the basis that it'll either be a final or a friendly. Even if they sell them out (likely) doubt many will actually turn out if it's North Macedonia in a friendly on a Tues night.

They've done it before where you could only buy two tickets together when they knew nobody would be arsed with one of the games.

But yesh the turn out wouldn't be great for the losers play-off regardless.

EDIT: Ah but that would have to be if there were two home games... Never mind

If we can somehow get past Czechia the atmosphere at the Aviva for Denmark should be absolutely incredible. There's enough niggle between the two teams over the years to give added spice.

We've lost 2 WC playoffs to them and one Euro playoff.

Also we owe them for the Viking raids also. I'm still bitter over that.

I think Denmark could have played anyone that day and still won, Christian Eriksen was just on fire.. had one his best games in a denmark shirt. Absolute tore us a new one when he got going

Ward gave the ball away very easily for his first and they scored on the counter.

For another goal Ward again just put it on a plate for him.

We actually played decently for most of the game.

We drew with them in Denmark in the first leg.

Any word on ticket release info yet for the Away game vs Czech?

Ive booked myself a free cancellation for a few days in Prague (hoping they are playing this one at the Fortuna Arena, as they dont always, seem to just about to different grounds a fair bit)

Far too much talk about Denmark here for my liking. Seen it before where we've been looking past our next opponent.

Forgetting about what I wrote above:
Still, it's kind of ridiculous that we could possibly face Denmark, again. Groundhog day per the Guardian Football podcast

Wonder how HH and his analysts will approach it.

Do they analyse Denmark and Macedonia as well as Czech?

Only a few days between games so they'll have to have their homework done.

He’s a shit stirrer. I’ve developed a real dislike for him.

I’d love to see some Fergie style treatment of him from a manager.

I find him a little harsh.
It's unnecessary.

Managers are under enough stress and pressure.

It's just a game you know.

Doable, but we all know it's probably not happening. All them english bottlers declaring for the nation of their birth and not the glorious homeland of at least one grandparent. They could've been Gods. Seriously though, this country needs one, maybe two world class players to give us a solid chance at qualifying for any tournament.
Still support the boys though, no matter how shite they are.

I really think we're just a top class CM from being a decent team.

Paul Nebel from Mainz would be great but he's more of an AM.
