Qatar have Switzerland in their group so were likely to be looking for European opponents and if if if we qualify we'd probably be looking for Asian opponents anyway given we'd have South Korea. Qatar the current AFC champs too

For some reason it’s reminded me of years ago in draws there were certain counties who couldn’t play each other due to conflicts and the likes (Balkan countries etc…) I think Cyprus and Turkey too

That would require actual morals and conviction rather than lazy and empty posturing.
The FAI are more interested in the smell of a few quid than doing what's right.
You blame the FAI rather than UEFA who allow them to take part? Ok.
This always confuses me. I get that the Eurovision is a bit mental and makes up its own rules but surely a sporting contest should reference actual geography when it comes to who competes in what competition? Because, if not, the FAI should be lobbying hard to get involved in the Oceania World Cup qualifiers.
I'm fairly sure Israel tried to join O.F.C. before being accepted by UEFA.
They don’t play in AFC because half the nations refused to play them in the 70s and they were booted out.
UEFA also ended up with Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia pretty much because they got to choose where they went after the Soviet Union dissolved.
Australia also play in AFC, basically because everyone in O.F.C. is shite. French Guiana and Suriname are, geographically, part of South America, but play in CONCACAF and not CONMEBOL, I expect because they're too shite.
UEFA are clearly corrupt but the other countries could do more to make it difficult for them. Especially in Ireland given the sentiment of the overwhelming majority of the population.
We should absolutely refuse to play them.
Israel should have banned a long long time ago. Ireland left with not much option but to just play them, get it over with, or they will be the ones penalised. (the absolute irony)

Letting their fans into the country is very very risky though. They are a disaster, and going somewhere that opposes what they have been doing out there... we have seen how they behave in places like that. They will go around wrecking the place then cry victim

There is a precedent. Our woman's basketball team had to play them a couple of times recently. I didn't follow it too closely but I think it all got quite unpleasant.
Hammering them home and away would be the best medicine.
