What concerns me the most, isn't if the transfer is going to take place in January(k14 told me it's a done deal), it's what squad number should be assigned to Berby Boy. ...

Apologies GH for dragging you into this, but I couldn't resist the wind-up given the previous contents of this thread ;)

I should probably have best resisted drawing attention to some posts by other posters, but what the hell ... maybe I'm entitled given the BS that's been thrown around.

Just you watch GlastonGimp

He'll be ours in the summer

Most Spurs fans I've talked to are resigned to losing him in the summer, so I wouldnt get so cocky

Dear oh dear. The window has been closed just a few days and already the Berbatov obsession starts up again.

Posters on this forum have been confidently predicting he'd be off to United in the last three transfer windows. And I've faced a lot of stick each time for saying - and giving reasons - why it was never going to happen ... especially this last time in the face of Cockney_Hams insistence on his infallible 'inside information'.

Don't you think it's time to give it a rest?
He looks like a kid who just got a new toy... I'm not saying he's going to come to United, but it's quite obvious he would want to... like any other footballer.

GlastonSpud seems to have become so deranged that he didn't realise this was a joke.

Ah well they're pulling away from relegation, they beat our reserves, they've signed another sicknote and Berbatov (the most overrated 12-league-goals-a-season centre forward of all time) is theirs all theirs (or at least for another 3 months).

.... Berbatov (the most overrated 12-league-goals-a-season centre forward of all time) ...
We can only bow to your expert, deeply insightful judgement and join you in baffled amazement as to why this 'most over-rated', apparently mediocre player is the focus of probably more threads and posts on this forum than any other non-United player.

As an Ar5ena1 fan you must be pleased that Spurs are lumbered with such a donkey.

I wouldn't cite the number of caftard posts as being indicative of much (except that Man Utd do need a centre forward). It's not my judgment which should be the focus here it should be the facts. 12 PL goals last season and now 9 with 2/3 of the season gone (4 in one game as well).

I actually agree with you.

Does that make me mentally ill?

You offer merely a limited selection of facts designed to bolster your patently absurd conclusion that Berbatov is not an especially good player. You ignore incovenient facts:

* The 16 non-PL goals he's scored for Spurs (last season and this season so far).

* The 28 assists he made for Spurs (last season and this season so far combined)

* His phenomenal international goal record.

Even aside from his goals and assists, it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that he brings a lot more to his game. To see him play on a regular basis is to know that he's a very, very gifted player: your claim that he isn't just makes you look small-minded and silly. I'd give it up if I were you.

Doesn't score enough goals in the PL for a top centre forward, does he?
How many PL goals did Tevez score last season? How many has Rooney scored this season?

Your narrow focus bespeaks a narrow footballing mind. Try opening your eyes a little wider.

Yeah I'm narrow-minded I expect my bigged-up centre forward to get 25 goals a season not 12 or 13.
Good on yer' ... stick to your guns sunshine. Drogba, Rooney, Tevez etc etc ... none of them are good enough to meet your exacting (if blindly narrow) standards.

Meanwhile I'll be more than happy with a Keane-Berbatov combination that has racked up staggering total of 122 goals or assists between them in the last 1.6 seasons.

Of which Berbatov has 5 in the league this season if you ignore that farcical Reading game.
Why does scoring several goals in one game count for less than any other goals scored? Goals are goals.

But the major, over-arching fact is this: Keane and Berbatov - 122 goals or assists between them in the last 1.6 seasons. Forget your limited selection of facts: put this 122 figure in your pipe and smoke it.

... An artificial conflation of assists + goals for an arbitrary time span. ...
Why artificial? It's a real fact, not invented.

And the time span is not arbitrary - it's the total time they've been playing together for the same team. But you can take almost any time-slice you like within that period and their combined goals/assists ratio per game will be just as impressive.
