Television The Pitt

It’s 4th July so I can imagine shit starts hitting the fan as the shift goes on into the evening and night.
Episode Title: "Shoot the Shit"
Buildings are being blown up left and right in Pittsburgh, resulting in mass injuries. Dr. Robbie discovers a dark secret: China secretly added explosives to fireworks sold around the city. The race is on to stop more people from lighting up their fireworks before it overwhelms Pittsburgh Medical and gives Dr. King a mental breakdown and Dr. Langdon resorts to his old habit.

Sad episode that one with the SA case.

Shit’s gonna be even more hectic now that the systems are down.

Got a bad feeling about the deaf lady. Basically been curbed for like a whole day straight without properly being checked over. (Surely they have other methods to communicate with her, anyway?)

Robbie needs to get over himself about Langdon too.

Looking forward to see the analog episodes

It’s pretty good. Very intense. Not sure if S2 is living up to S1 just yet though.

Aside: only just found out that Dr McKay is Brad Dourif’s daughter and I can’t unsee it now. She looks so much like him
Pretty sure he's in an episode of season 1 as her father or father-in-law.

How come that one doc just jumped in on the shift? The one that came in with the wounded soldier / camo cop. Wasn't he shot in the lower back too?
Hella weird that.

Hella weird that.

He works there on night shift so I guess just an extra pair of hands. But also moonlights as a medic? So I understand why he was on that roof at the start of S1.

it's not been as exciting as last season, it's been more of a comfort watch this season (with a few disgusting bits, of course), and more about getting to know the characters, I feel. Everything seems a little less urgent. Still a really enjoyable show, though.

I hope we'll get to know whats up with the abandoned baby. And dr Al Hashimi had 2 episodes of sort of freezing, after 2nd she called her doctor or something?
Robby is too hard on Langdon and Santos rubs me the wrong way still. And is it just me or Jawadi was sort of shocked with that student Jackson diagnosis in the sense of thinking maybe she might end up like that.

In any case a great show really.

Yeah it's still just a great watch. I guess if you make everything incredibly urgent and dramatic it dilutes the bits that actually are (which I'm sure will come this season).

Robby is a true doctor with no compromises I guess, he'll do anything in the patient's best interest, so Langdon stealing and doing those drugs went against pretty much everything he believed in, I can't understand why he's so pissed at him, but it's also hard to watch.

Yeah, it doesn't quite have the same highs, it's just simply consistently very good.

I think that "excitement" of last year, when the concept of a 24 esque medical show was still fresh, would be hard to maintain beyond a season. What it has done this season is mature and maintain very consistent standards of acting and writing.

I would agree with that. This season to me shows it has staying power. Something like an ER back in the day, or a House i think went through something similar. Both also somewhat groundbreaking in their own right, but the novelty factor isn't what kept them on the air for so long. In that sense I find it quite fascinating that so far they still manage to develop the characters in the ER alone, but like the aforementioned two I wonder if at some pt they wont have to pivot a bit from the Formula.

Basically agree with massive spanner that it isn't as good as last season.

Also, have to say, this would be better if you could binge it in a couple of sittings. I binged the first series in two sittings and it was top notch. This weekly thing, not sure if it was that way for first one too and I just caught it late, doesn't lend it the same level of captivation.

Still, however, it's arguably the best thing on television.

It wouldn't be hard to do.

I mean you could follow each character around for "their hours" (outside the A and E, too) -- you could also cut it up into shifts condensed into two hour episodes (if the network went for it).

The formula allows for a lot of interesting experimentation in the seasons to come if they're up for it.

how easy life must be when you have someone like Samira to patiently listen to your crap.

and Santos and Yolanda seem to be in relationship now.

great show.

Robby bitching Ogilvie was great. Not the furry convention patient

Sign of a good show that the missus and I are both disappointed every time the credits role - just want to keep watching!

This season isn’t as frenetic as the first but it’s starting to simmer now. Bad enough the systems are down, but Dr Robbie looks spent, Dr Mohan has personal drama, Dr King is in desperate need of a hug, and Dr Santos can’t see past her own ego. Something’s going to snap soon.

Man, that final scene was tough. It's similar to how I lost my mum, I couldnt watch it and the wife forwarded it

I do love this show though. A lot of insanity but gripping to watch.

Yep. I was the actual euthanizer of my mom as she was basically withering away, completely gone physically & mentally & in a coma. She weighted 80 pounds when the end occurred. We as a family had said our goodbyes & knew it was the right thing to do.

I was sobbing uncontrollably at the last scene, completely lost it.

Friendship ended with Robinavitch, Al Hashimi is my new best friend. Even with all her AI shite

I love Yoyo - Langdon relationship. they always "insult" each other, yet she defends him every time, including S1.

At what point is Robby and Santos’ gripe with Langdon affecting patient care if not already. Have to assume that’ll boil over at some point.

Man that rough and sorry to hear.
I used to be stoned faced when things like this happened but now I struggle to watch scenes like this.

I used to think I was stone faced and impervious to most things, until I became a parent. Dread any scenes like these now, especially when children are involved.

Impressive for the Pitt to go there with what is relevant in today's America in this last episode. Don't want to spoil for someone who hasn't watched it yet.

I also think I have a crush on Dr Al Hashimi.
