I remember him being fulhams main threat aged about 12, then not getting a game a year or two on, in the Dutch lower leagues now IIRC.

I remember that guy, geesh what a fall from grace.

He's currently playing for Chicago Fire, and the season before that he was playing for some Belgian Second Division side.

He got two Dutch caps back in '04.

Was brilliant for Udinese in the late 90's then had big money moves to Parma and then Dortmund but then went off the radar. Spells at Milan and a number of clubs in Brazil confirmed his downward spiral.

Good shout. Anyone remember Celio Silva, the Brazilian centre back we nearly signed around 1997? Deal fell through due to work permit issues, and then he vanished like a fart in the wind.

Boro were pretty ambitious during those years and there were always a few pundits every pre-season penciling them as dark horse candidates for a 4th-place finish in the league and a run at the Champions league.
