This makes me wonder how Scholes never came close to winning any major individual honours. Scholes could do everything Modric can do plus he was a far more prolific goalscorer.
Modric being the standout player for his country in a world cup year is probably the main reason for his ballon d'Or. That and everyone being sick of Ronaldo and Messi winning it.
Luke Shaw has only scored once for us, he must have 150 games played at least.
