Has anyone listened to The Offensive? I've only listened to 5 episodes but I think I'm in love. Mockumentary based on the mishaps of made up PL club Ashwood City. Think of In the Thick of It if it was in podcast form and about football. Every football fan should listen, it's unbelievably funny.
Never heard of it, but you've sold it to me.

Assume I should start at the beginning? Or is there somewhere half way through to jump in?

No, definitely start from the beginning. There's 35 episodes covering the course of the 2018/19 season, and they're about to release a second lot of episodes for the 19/20 season.

So I’m currently caught up on all my podcasts. Need something new. I listen to Casefile, Reply All, How Did This Get Made, Film Reroll and the Peter Crouch Podcast.

I also finished My Dad Wrote A Porno.

I listen to shit-loads of podcasts. In addition to those already mentioned, I would recommend.

The Adam Buxton Podcast: One half of Adam & Joe, friend of Louis Theroux and very funny man. Witty, rambling interviews with comedians, movie people and musicians.
Ear Hustle: Produced inside San Quentin jail (co-hosted by a prisoner) and packed full of fascinating (sometimes funny, sometimes grim) anecdotes about life inside.
Heavyweight: The presenter helps people right past wrongs. First episode is an old friend of Moby's who is pissed off that Moby borrowed one of his CDs to use as samples for all his biggest hits, then never gave them back. They duly chase Moby down to his home in the Hollwood Hills and confront him...
Caliphate: Brilliant NYT piece of investigative journalism into what life was really like as a member of ISIS. I binged the hell out of it.
The Blindboy Podcast: Absolutely massive in Ireland and gaining traction around the world. A bloke with a plastic bag on his head waxing lyrical about life, the universe and everything. Sounds a bit odd/parochial but you don't need to be Irish to appreciate it (isn't that right, @JPRouve ?)
Homecoming: A radio play starring Catherine Keener, Oscar Isaac and David Schwimmer about a pharmaceutical trial that goes awry. Atmospheric and gripping.
I started The Blindboy Podcast on the back of this post and I caught up a couple of weeks ago. It really is good listening even when he's on about stuff I didn't think I had much interest in.

For non-football related, I'd recommend Radiolab.

Also would strongly recommend The Offensive, which is football related but is a Mockumentary based on a fictional football club, rather than the standard discussion of real-life football.

Tried The Offensive but couldn't get past the first five minutes. The humour was way too basic and I just wasn't a fan of the voice acting. Not sure I like that style of pod anyway.

Have you listened to The Flop House? Similar style to How did this get made in that they take the piss out of crap movies (either a critical or financial flop). 12 years old so a lot of back episodes to work through

Also if you like Casefile then True Crime Garage or My favourite Murder are also good listens.

Nah but I feel like HDTGM already fills that genre for me. I kinda want something a bit different since I have my crime, movie and football ones. Recently really enjoyed Reply All which is about stuff going on on the internet and them sometimes solving interesting problems for people.

What are some good football ones? Can be video or only audio based, don't mind.

The Guardian football podcast is quite good as well.
Not as good as it used to be imo. Max Rushden isn’t as good as Jimbo. Ronay is a tit. Barry is from Offaly so is deliberately contrary: sometimes he can cut through bullshit and sometimes he’s just annoying.

@SilentWitness I would recommend the following:

The Totally Football Show (James Richardson and others)
Golazzo: The Totally Italian Football Show (James Richardson, Gab Marcotti, James Horncastle) this might actually be better than the totally football show

Football Ramble Daily (best podcast out there. On the Continent is part of their regular show now and includes James Horncastle and Andy Brassel)

The Spanish Football Podcast (Sid Lowe and Phil Kitro) they have a patreon but do a free show every Monday. Sid Lowe is one of the greatest football writers/journalists ever in my opinion, he gives a great insight into the games and also Spanish football culture.

If you like Gary Neville, he has a podcast called the Gary Neville podcast.

Two short ones which ran just a few episodes, maybe 6 or 7: The Barcelona Legacy Podcast (Marcus Speller of the football ramble, and Johnathan Wilson who wrote a book with the same name) and The Mixer (again Speller, this time with Michael Cox). Actually I think both of these accompanied books.

YES! Finally another listener of Luke and Pete :D I tried to plug it here a while back
It’s brilliant  I still think my favourite moment was when they were discussing earwigs and Luke started telling a story about looking for them in his garden with his nephew, and then cut himself off and said this is the most boring story in the world, can we just go to an ad break instead

Our Fake History maybe? Recently did one on the Congo Free State. Does almost mythical stuff like Joan of Arc, Trojan War, King Arthur, etc.

Doesn’t have the gravitas of Hardcore History or the personality of History on Fire, but I like the content.

So I've recently subscribed to:

This Is Actually Happening
Radiolab
The Adventure Zone
My Brother, My Brother and Me
Criminal
Hardcore History
Welcome to Nightvale

I've only really listened to MBMBAM and TIAH. Enjoyed both. I listened to the first WWI episode of Hardcore Historys and enjoyed it but it is a commitment to listen to at around 4-5 hours long.

I was going to recommend American Scandal but you said you said you already had the crime topic covered.

The 'I had trials once' podcast with Gareth Seddon and Jordan Hulme is quality. Two former Salford player who invite non-league guests into speak. Some cracking stories and insight into the lower league game.

'Undr the cosh' is similar too but the guests are more well-known. Jon Parkin is quality on it.

Peter Crouch's podcast is worth a listen too. Not as graphic given he's a more known figure and it's the BBC podcast but some funny stories about top players and Crouch himself.

For those that say they like Magic Sponge, then listen to the above three. I find Magic Sponge nowhere near as good. Rob Beckett's laugh in it is enough to stop listening all together plus he just brown noses Jimmy Bullard all throughout the episodes.

I kind of like it because it gives a good wrap up of all the weekend games from premier league to league 1 and a short recap of continental games on a Monday, which is easy to follow.

I also came across Tifo football, which is a more tactical analysis podcast, unfortunately they are not yet on spotify but on iTunes, soundcloud etc if you have an iPhone.

can anyone recommend some good history or science podcasts?
Infinite monkey cage is always a good easy "sciency" listen.

Dan Carlins Hardcore History is great, very in depth but fascinating.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
If you loved The West Wing tv show (and if you didn't, f you) then I'd recommend The West Wing Weekly. Hosted by the bloke who played Will Bailey they watch an episode a week and talk to various writers, directors and actors.

They've had everyone on there, Sheen, Sorkin and all the rest.

They're up to the last season now so tons in the back catalogue.

Does Radiolab stop with the annoying quick commentary on things people are already saying?

Example from memory:

Host: "And he looked after his dad"
Person: "So I looked after my Dad"
Host: "5 times a week"
Person: "And then I started to rebuild the house"
Host: And he rebuilt the house"

I enjoyed the dolphin episode but that had this style too. It's way too fast pace, there's no pauses between people saying things.

What’s interesting to me is that this article is saying Serial began the huge uptick in listenership. I thought This American Life (TAL) would have got that credit.

I spend more time on podcasts than radio these days.
Favs being TAL, Planet Money, Here’s the Thing, etc.
I tried Stuff you should know and Stuff you missed in History Class but got bored of them.

Now I need to find a few more.

I listened to the most recent This American Life podcast the other day. It's about some pretty bad cultural issues in the Amsterdam fire brigade. What's up with that, Dutch posters? @KirkDuyt etc. It sounds like the local government is fecking it up for themselves going by the podcast.
