Did a rewatch of TDK. Still as good as the previous viewings. Just non-stop spectable. IMO the best work of Nolan.

Overloaded with beautiful imagery and at times a absurdist satire on the western but also art house Neil Breen. This level of self indulgence shouldn't be allowed although greatful for its influence

Ghost Town. A romantic comedy with Ricky Gervais as a misanthropic dentist who suddenly sees ghosts that need his help. Gervais plays the same character as often, but it's sweet and funny and it works well enough. 3/5
The King of Comedy (1982)
I've seen it many times but I'm trying to get back into the swing of watching films again and thought that I might as well ease myself back in with a favourite.

I saw it for the first time after I’d seen Joker (I had already seen Taxi Driver), and I thought, oh, so this is where they stole the other half of the movie from.
Very much so, and nowhere near as good as either - in my opinion.
That looks like it's pretty much guaranteed to be the best movie ever!
On a good run with movies of late and can now add Obsession to the list. Normally steer clear of horror but glad I watched this, the twists at the end were great and the lead girl was fantastic. 4/5.
Yeah she was superb in it.

Starring Adam Driver as a young Senate staffer, tasked with investigating 'Enhanced Interrogation Techniques' (aka torture) by the CIA after 9/11. After learning that the CIA destroyed video tapes of their handling of detainees, he follows the paper trail instead.
Driver is excellent, as is Annette Benning as his boss, Senator Feinstein. It's a fantastic political thriller.

Nian is a 12th grader being relentlessly bullied as she prepares for college entrance exams, a classmate recently jumped to her death from bullying from the same people now targeting Nian. A street thug, Bei, offers to protect her, and becomes her only friend. The culture differences are stark. The competition among students for coveted university spots looks positively dystopian. Each student has about two feet of books on their desks at all times, which I guess is similar to the AP test studying done here. Life in Chongqing looks unbearable as well, or it is at least made to look dirty and ugly here. There are about a dozen scenes of crying in this film, so approximately one crying scene every 10 minutes. The two leads (Zhou Dongyu, Jackson Yee) are amazing. You have to be in the mood for emotional manipulation. 135 minutes, in Mandarin.

Evil Dead Burn
I heard some people really shit on this so I was not gonna watch it but Evil Dead is one of my favourite horror franchises so I couldn't help myself. I absolutely enjoyed it. Bloody, gory, funny... It's exactly what an Evil Dead movie should be, I have no idea what people were expecting going in? It had some spectacular and memorable set-pieces, the cinematography (and a specific oner) was amazing (no surprise as it was filmed by the cinematographer of MadS - great film), the humour for the most part works, great sound design and soundtrack, the practical effects looked great and the film just goes from 1-100mph right away. My only gripe was the last 10 or so minutes. It could have ended once scene earlier and also, this finale had a CGI monster, which isn't in the spirit of Evil Dead movies (which are all about practical effects). Maybe I'm biased as the original Evil Dead is what got me into horror movies having watched it as a 7 year old but I really had a great time here 8/10

Did you stayed for the credits? The movie had a mid credit scene and a post credit scene... Majority of the cinema missed the second one at least.

I was looking for something easy to watch, perhaps something a little bit shit so I could just switch my brain off and relax for a few hours. Decided to watch the original Twilight as I had never seen it before, but knew snippets of it.
We watched this on Amazon Prime and I have a long-running issue with their subtitling. There are films that we sometimes have decided not to watch because of the lack of subtitles. I have to say that out of all of the streaming services we have used, Amazon Prime seem to be the worst in this regard. Within the first minute of this film, the subtitles were a little dodgy. By the first half hour, my wife and I were in hysterics. One of the lines referred to somebody wanting a "shoulder to cry on", which Amazon subtitled as "shoulder crayon."
There were more examples throughout, but that's my personal favourite.
The rest of the film, though. Fecking hell. It's one of the most wooden films I have ever seen. It's up there with The Room for me. It's all to do with the reactions. Person A delivers a line, Person B totally doesn't react to that line and talks about something else, or the reaction from Person B is really, really awkward tonally. It sort of reminds me of cut scenes in mid-2000 games. There's something very PS2 about the whole thing. My wife pointed out that this could all have been written, directed, and filmed by GCSE drama students. That's about right.
The acting, script work, shot choices, direction...all abysmal. I loved it! Can't wait to watch the others.

8/10. I won't spoiler anything as i realise it's only just come out but just what you would expect from a Spiderman film. Some cool characters introduced, particularly
. Soft drama and no real jeapordy involved which is why i haven't scored it higher. The family enjoyed it though.

I prefer “Thanks Freddy Foreshadowing!” from Archer. Same scene that includes “ergo…—>latin” which always confuses my coworkers.

Yeah she does, she was amazing in it, I do the ‘stay’ to my wife every now and then just for a laugh.
The actress also seems like a total down to earth goofball which makes it even better for me.

So mainly I'm confused why you would say to someone "open the airlock" when you would have had to have literally just gone through the air lock to get outside the airlock in the first place. So they opened the airlock to go through it to be outside the airlock, and then closed the airlock, even though the only reason they went outside the spaceship was to open the airlock? I would not trust these people to rescue me.
Anyway, there were things I appreciated about this film. I liked Matt Damon's character. I do not believe however that you could survive a year on Mars by just growing some potatoes. I also don't believe you can just create more water by exploding some hydrogen and oxygen together...well I do believe you can do this, but it would also cause you and the potatoes to explode. For a film that claims to "science the sh*t out of this" the science is really flimsy.
The f*CK were they communicating in hieroglyphics most of the film when apparently they had working radios the whole time?
Also don't buy that an astronaut being stuck on Mars would be live broadcast to the entire planet in random city centres with massive crowds gathering to watch, for various reasons, but the main one being that people just wouldn't care.
