Gaming The SM RedCafe League

Was ahead of its time with women's league and everything.

There's zero chance they'll do that. I've pleaded in the smw-chat, feedback and game-suggestions channels to no response, and in the wiki discord itself I think I'm too low a rank to be given any benefits like that.
I already feel I’ve been pushing my luck in my criticism, I mentioned in my message to Steven the frustration we were all feeling.

If you think about it, with 3M views in this thread, SM has had big visibility in unfunded advertising on here and the league being dismantled would be negative for their image while continuing the 31 seasons would show to potential customers what an experience the game is so we would be deserving of having our league continue with no transfer restrictions on non-Gold members.

Can't actually argue that with Steven or Chris myself as I don't know either of them.

Easy way of them getting extra financing over the years could have been to have the 'sponsors' linked to real world companies. Have companies pay a price and at the start of each season you select from the list of sponsors what your team will be sponsored by and they get an advertising slot on the team's squad page and whatnot.

September update blogpost: https://www.soccermanager.com/games/soccer-manager-worlds-september-update/

I would like to start this latest blog with a huge thank you to the community.

Firstly, thank you to all the community for their patience during this Major update and some of the teething issues we have had.

We have done a lot in the August update, some which is seen by the community but also a lot that the community wouldn’t have seen. We have made some fairly significant changes to the game and also some very big updates to the backend of the game around the code base and the infrastructure.

This work has been necessary to lay the foundations for future updates that we have planned, including more work on squashing bugs, improving the interface and importantly new features.

Secondly, we have been really pleased with the uptake of Gold Membership, way ahead of our expectations. So thank you to everyone who has directly contributed to supporting the game and putting the game on a firmer footing for years to come.

Due to your direct support and passion for the game, we can now announce, that due to this really good uptake, we can now continue at pace with the road map we have laid out.

Therefore, moving onto the plans for this month and based on the results of the ‘Next Feature’ poll, we will focus out efforts on fixing more bugs and looking to improve the Transfer System.

Screenshot-2024-09-02-150205.png

We will put a new poll out shortly for the Gold Members to decide on what order we work on the following:

Improving unmanaged Club AI
Bigger deals
Complex deals

Improving unmanaged Club AI

We would like to make the unmanaged clubs (AI) more intelligent and active in the transfer market by working on the following changes.

Allow the AI to seek out players that they need and/or would improve their teams
Allow the AI to spend more (based on their cash balance) to put competitive offers in for players
Allow the AI to repsond and negotiate deals with users
Improve the AI so they will only sell their better players or young players for very tempting offers
Improve the AI so they will take into account player potential and use that in their logic on player values and deals
Allow users to construct deals with AI clubs using players
AI clubs will only take players on loan if they are good enough to play

Bigger Deals

Allow users to put together bigger deals rather than just one player in and two out

Allow users to offer more than two players in a deal
Allow users to offer to buy more than one player in a deal
Allow users to offer a player to a club (not just clubs interested) and including players you would want in the deal

Complex Deals

Introduce a whole range of options into deals such as:

Introduce ‘Loan to Buy’ deals
Introduce multi year loan deals
Introduce ‘Sell on clauses’
Introduce paying in instalment deals
Introduce extra payments on a range of criteria such as appearances, goals etc
Negotiating which club pays the players wages (or %) for a loan deal

We will put this New Poll out shortly and leave it running for a number of weeks to get feedback. We will also join the debates in Discord to gleam feedback and to shape how these features will work.

Below is a broader list of improvements we want to work on over the coming months.

post-release-sm-worlds-v3.jpg

Finally, as we finish off ironing out the teething issues and continue to fix bugs, we will start promoting the game to past members and new members with the aim of bringing on lots of new users to add to this unique and exceptional community and game.

And congrats to @IRN-BRUno for blowing the goals scored and conceded records out of the water. Didn't think they'd be beaten any time soon.

We’re still 45.6% despite having by far the most inferior squad of all above us.

17th place in the all time league with only 456 games 90 games less than the next club directly above us.

Proud of that.

Actually 190 games fewer than Middlesbrough. Yeah you've done brilliant.

Thanks @Damien I personally really appreciate the effort you put in to all of this....just as a question...are you soon to be making this type of analysis pay per view based on the current game model?
You're welcome :) The community here is all the payment I need.

I mean the United dominance is sickeningly admirable.

To be on top for so long the wheeling and dealing must have been epic.

Definitely made a lot of mistakes in the time but letting Vinicius go is probably my biggest regret, with swapping Kimmich for Trent and Bellingham on par with signing Mbappe uncontested for the best deal.

I started off at Leeds United in season 1, already well on my way to building the squad when Zarlak left United in season 2(?). Took over there but made the choice to uproot a fair chunk of the side he built as, while a lot of the players were high rated, they were also very old and had to make some decisions very quick like selling Buffon and starting De Gea when he was still developing as he was getting playing concerns.

Hardest bit is knowing when to rebuild and making the moves before it is too late. It is certainly a lot tougher these days. I think I've done a good few successful rebuilds but the current one isn't going so well.

I’ve had a little scroll through the top deals in the GW history (annoying that pure P/E is not listed) but have to say the Kimmich for Bellignham and Trent stands out with the power of hindsight as the best deal.

Thanks for the summary.
Was hoping to break into top3 overall soon enough. Just there! Maybe another 2-3 seasons would have been enough for several stats.
