Benito's Season 34 Previews

Season 34 approaches and we’re smack bang in the middle of review season which means transfers, trials and tribulations as managers scramble to grind every morsel of quality from their squads.

Back by popular demand, this is once again your friendly guide to the movers and shakers in Division 1 as we delve into the potential starting XIs, ones to watch and predicted finishing positions of the top flight clubs.

Manchester United (1st)
Oblak 93
Trent 94 Kounde 92 VVD 95 Alaba 91
Rice 93 Pedri 94
Frimpong 92 Bellingham 95 N.Williams 92
Mbappe 96 ⭐️

feck me United. Calm down! 97 points, 104 goals scored only 34 conceded and just 3 losses all season. To say they have been dominant would be like saying the sun is a bit hot. No side comes close to this absolute footballing behemoth.

In goal Oblak is solid on his 93 and has plenty of years left in the tank. Kauã Santos is a promising understudy and so there’s no need for change. If it ain’t broke…

Defensively nothing has changed and ratings wise nor would I expect it to significantly in their starting back line (did not age well Alaba has dropped and Stones has too and they’ve since sold Stones along with others for Gravenberch) however I remain concerned about the age of the central defence. Van Dijk and Stones cannot hold out much longer. Stones is due a drop to 91/2 and it’s hard to see a player perfectly positioned to step up. Debast is closest but has moved to DM in real life and Van Den Bosch just isn’t quite the quality for a 92+ CB. In an ideal world they should be bidding for U27s 91+ rated with the potential to grow if it was me, I’d be getting in touch with Southend or be throwing the absolute world at Cubarsí when the new Hereford manager takes over.

As for midfield. I mean what can you improve on Rice, Pedri and Bellingham. Pedri is due a rise and should be 94 (nailed it) and has the potential to go further (as does Rice). It’s just perfect and I can’t help but just admire it. *Takes another look in admiration*. The addition of Ederson was a sensible investment and he rotates nicely at a good age the only criticism (and I feel stupid saying it) is who is next in line to the trio’s throne? (Turns out it’s Gravenberch, a costly deal but a very good player)

Finally attack. Mbappe got 45 goals and 16 assist in 37 games that is 1.65 goal involvements per match and is absolutely ridiculous. Like mind bogglingly stupendously ridiculous. With the 2nd best N.Williams in game moving to Barcelona (oh come on you can’t blame me for this one it was a sure thing) and putting up 14 goals and 33 assists and Pulisic managing 10/10 while one will want to upgrade the American I can only see Mbappe going eventually to 97 and Williams being a 94 rated player by this time next year.

Predicted Finish: Champions (and unlikely to ever change)

Newcastle United (2nd)
Courtois 95
Carvajal 92 Konate 93 Christensen 90 Cucurella 91
Kovacic 92 Merino 92
Gnabry 91 Odegaard 93 Vini Jr 96 ⭐
Morata 91
I was about to begin my analysis of Newcastle when I saw “accepted” on De Brunye. So here is version 2.0.

Newcastle performed admirably this season, 86 points 11 behind United but 12 clear of Everton, with 90 goals and only 39 conceded (2nd best in both) they really were good value for their finish (as predicted).

In goal Thibaut Courtois continues to be a world class presence and while Bazunu isn’t a world beater he is Irish, and I know that matters.

Defensively Newcastle have made efforts to add in players like Kambwala (who I also went for and is due a sizeable rise) (he got that rise) and Diakite’s recent rise means their depth is improving here. Of course their biggest asset is Konate, who appears to be a future Real Madrid free transfer target so certainly someone to build around (also got a rise!) My worry here would be RB. Carvajal isn’t starting over Trent next season and he will drop like a stone soon (he dropped and will more) and there doesn’t appear to be a RB in the squad close to 90 ready to take over. A priority need for the squad to deal with now.

In midfield De Brunye is gone, off to Middlesbrough with De Ketelaere being the main aspect of the swap. This leaves CM light of world class ratings but there is the promising Angelo Stiller emerging (I campaigned hard for him to get 91 and was told no) he should become a capable 91/2 player if he can get a transfer this season. The issue I think Newcastle will have is the midfield is mainly players around 30. Now the plan could be to drop Odegaard (dropped to 93!) deeper and then rotate the older players in the AM spot (it’s what I’d do personally) which would then bide some time to scout younger replacements, but if not then Kovacic, Zielinksi and Merino aren’t players you build a squad around and the competition (United) are much better placed in the long term here.

In attack there is world class quality in Vini Jr, a 96 rated attacker always gives you a chance in any season to do well. The supporting cast is solid but ageing and uninspiring but Newcastle have sensibly gambled on Boniface for cash (looks to be joining Turkey). It at least gives them a solid more youthful option at 90 allowing time for Barry and Wahi to develop more. Cunha’s move to United worries me though. The only player who has rose in attack at United has been Bruno. He should hit 91 this review and is capable of more, but it’s hard to feel convinced of that.

Predicted Finish: 5th due to the De Brunye sale

Everton (3rd)
Alisson 95
Llorente 91 Dias 94 Milenkovic 90 Cancelo 91
Rodri 96 ⭐️ Kimmich 94
Oyarzabal 92 Silva 93 Diaz 92
Messi 94
3rd place (again as predicted) for this Everton side that is going to begin experiencing growing pains soon. 74 points was enough for a top 4 finish but leaves them 23 points behind United which is an absolute chasm.

In goal Alisson has one more season at Liverpool as first choice but with Mamardashvili arriving I can’t see him staying longer. Having had to replace Neuer myself, my advice would be to do it now or try and be clever about getting a GK via other P/E deals.

Defensively I really like Everton’s CB options. Dias is quality and Kalulu and Milenkovic (who could rise) are solid 2nd choices. The depth is good with Medina and Jeltsch (another player I was close to signing) is a promising young CB who I expect to reach 90+. Id be tempted to sell Andersen and replace with a youth prospect though. LB is really solid with Udogie longer term the best option and RB has Bellanova at a good age now and rating too.

Kimmich and Rodri (why did I sell?!) are the best CM pairing of any team. I’d be making Rodri my playmaker and letting him dictate the games. The back ups though are uninspiring and I’m a bit salty that Guendouzi hit 90 but Ferguson hasn’t hit his 90 yet (ridiculous). I am a big fan of Miller though and think he’ll get a move this summer and has 90+ potential. Attacking midfield has the excellent Silva and Damsgaard who should be seeing a rise to ~89 making him good back up for now. The trouble is when we look at United. Their midfield will be around the same rating but developing and Everton’s has peaked. It may seem harsh but it’s the truth.

In attack things are looking more promising. Messi is dropping but Ekitike is turning into a hot prospect at 22 and 90 he should be capable of going further a la Isak 2.0. Lookman is solid on his 91 and his positional flexibility is a huge bonus. With Gordon as a back up winger at a good age and room to grow they seem pretty settled for the future, but if we compare to United I don’t think they have the potential in wide areas of N.Williams. A really good attack but I just can’t see how it beats Mbappe, Williams and Frimpong/Pulisic.

Predicted Finish: 2nd place.

Leyton Orient (4th)
Martinez 93
White 92 Tapsoba 91 Gvardiol 92 Robertson 92
Vitinha 94 ⭐️ Jorginho 91
Coman 91 Nkunku 92 Doku 90
Scamaca 90
A good finish (again as predicted) with 73 points, 61 goals and only 39 conceded. Orient continue to punch above their attacking weight and secure solid finishes.

Martinez is a worry. I think last years hype will keep him at 93 but to stay there at Villa (or his next club) is going to be a challenge and the clubs he’s linked to aren’t exactly sure things. He’s worth keeping for now, but I’d be having a close eye on the real life transfer market.

Defensively they are solid. Robertson will drop and has been replaced in real life by Kerkez so I’d expect him below 90 soon, having Balde as back up along with Raum should soften the blow though (although Balde needs to be careful as Torrents is coming through at Barca soon). The RB position could do with a good youth prospect but for me the best part of the defence is CB. Gvardiol, Singo, Yoro, Huijsen, Gasiorowski and Mokio is ridiculous levels of young CB talents. Perhaps one could be sacrificed for a top RB prospect?

In Midfield as expected Jorginho is off and heading down but Pavlovic is now steady on 89 and looking like he could breakthrough sooner rather than later. Then there is Vitinha who has hit 94 and cemented himself as one of the best in the world. Herrera, Kone, Guerra are all solid rotation options (although I’d be tempted to sell off Herrera now) but the true hero is Bischof who looks a promising option for the future too. My only worry is the AM position. Nkunku will drop to 90/91 and seems ill suited to the PL and the back ups while solid don’t look capable of hitting higher than his 92. It’s probably the area I’d advise they invest in soon.

Finally the forward options. Out wide Bobb, Doku, Fofana, Kilicsoy and Bakayoko are top young talents at a good mix of ages and ratings. While they aren’t yet blessed with 92+ quality I’d assume some aren’t far off it. The striker position though is what I firmly believe will hold the side back from doing more than top 4. Scamaca at 90 is the highest natural option so Leyton will be heavily reliant on Cvetkovic and Kroupi developing into 91+ players (I think Kroupi is the most likely here).

Predicted Finish: 4th place

Southend United (5th)
Donnaruma 92
Timber 91 Upamecano 92 Bastoni 94 Robinson 90
Valverde 94 Bentacur 91
Dembele 94 ⭐️ Havertz 92 Davies 92*
Nuñez 91
It seems strange to say this but I’m worried about Southend. As I’ve made clear before I’m a huge admirer of the work they’ve done but I think there are holes that need filling.

Goalkeeper is sorted for the foreseeable and so a complete non issue.

Defensively Southend have a superb array of options in CB and LB. To have amassed Davies, Robinson (ex Cardiff), Dorgu , Lewis-Skelly and Aznou is stunning but they are fast approaching a problem. They’ve got too many top players that are going to get in each others way. Already Davies is played out of position as a LW/LM and MLS should be on a fast track to 87 maybe more in this next review. Dorgu looks like he’ll be No1 at United going forward too so a decision needs to be made soon. Who are you backing?

Valverde has 11 goals and 13 assists this season and remains the beating heart of the midfield but it’s here and in attack I’m most concerned. I don’t see an obvious successor to Bentacur maybe Andre or Fernandes, maybe MLS is kept in midfield despite his real life role being different. It just feels a bit messy at the moment and it’s something I’d be prioritising as an area to fix. The attacking midfield slot however is a lot clearer. A good move for Darvich means he should get minutes, and El Khannous is a very promising option here too. It’s just a question of patience here.

The wide options I think are sorted for a while. Quenda should long term occupy one wing and there are enough other promising options to fight for the LW slot in the next couple of years. The issue for me is CF. Nuñez isn’t good enough to hold 91 much longer unless he moves and none of the younger up and coming players fill me with the confidence of growing like Quenda does at RW. While Havertz is hitting 21 goals in a season I’m sure Southend will feel they have time.

Predicted Finish: 3rd Place

Aston Villa (6th)
Meret 90
AWB 89 Maguire 90 Torres 91 Hernandez 91
Gavi 91 Parejo 91
Yamal 94 Foden 94 Wirtz 94
Kane 96 ⭐
I called it before Aston Villa will struggle because of their defence and 59 goals conceded shows that unless it is fixed, they won’t be challenging for titles despite their impressive 91 goals scored (2nd best in the league). It’s a superb attacking line up but let down by a leaky back line (and nobody wants a leaky back).

In goal Meret is ok, but if I look at everyone’s squad through the lens of can it grow to beat United he’s a very uninspiring option. I think he’s maybe got a +1 in him if Napoli can win Serie A again but realistically I think he’s probably peaked. I know absolutely nothing about the back up. (And Villa took that personally so signed my recommendation Ter Stegen I LOVE THIS GAME)

Defensively, it’s gotten better since we last analysed it with the addition of Lucas Hernandez (you’re welcome!) but it still lacks a 90 rated RB and a top quality CB that is often needed to keep clean sheets. I do believe Villa have invested a lot in good young options that may one day take over but none stand out as potentially world class CB options in the near future (though I do like Bitshiabi and Egan-Riley as ones to watch next year as well as rating Anselmino in the longer term). The good news is Livramento has developed well, so they should hopefully have that RB issue solved for the foreseeable if he can hit 90 next review. When that happens I’d be selling Semedo for cash to free up squad space for another youth gamble and LB seems very high up the priority list for me. Perhaps they could test the resolve of Southend for one of their LB prospects?

In midfield we have a bit of an issue as Parejo isn’t really 91 quality and is ageing. Fortunately García can cover in the shorter term but long term I’m just not sure the quality is there. I’d be throwing a significant wedge out for a top CM prospect. As for AM they are absolutely spoilt for choice with Foden, Musiala and Wirtz (Mukasa is a good pick up too and there was lots of competition). It’s possible that selling someone like Foden could help them bring in a CM and that’s probably needed more as things stand.

Finally the attack, I’ve sort of had to cheat a bit and let Wirtz be a winger but, Yamal is the best player to own in the game. There I said it. I can see him being a 95 player soon if he can add more goals to his game and Villa hit the jackpot in getting Wirtz and Yamal in day one bidding wars. Kane is world class and with 48 goals in 48 appearances along with 26 assists he’s an absolute monster to deal with. This attack should be enough to tear holes in any back line and it does so regularly. In terms of youth (excluding Yamal)
Ngumoha, Heskey and Gomes all look promising but I’m not sure they are Yamal/Wirtz/Foden level (94+) I’d still back all 3 to hit 90+ in the next 3 years or so.

Predicted Finish: 6th (again)

Cardiff City (7th)
Chevalier 90
Pavard 91 Rüdiger 94 Tomori 90 Mittelstädt 90
Barella 94 ⭐Modric 92
Kubo 91 Milinkovic-Savic 91 Son 93
Isak 92

Thank you to @Dom Gill for this!

I sort of regret offering to do this writeup for Beni, not because it involves effort or that it takes time, but when I saw the volume of transfers and the churn this club has gone through this season I knew it was not going to be a simple thing unpicking the mind of someone that is currently in a transition period for their squad. On the other hand, it is also quite fun working out what the hell Beni is up to at the same time. So here goes….

Cardiff (7th)
Chevalier 90
Pavard 91 Todibo 90 Rudiger 94 Mittelstadt 90
Modric 92 Milinkovic-Savic 91
Kubo 91 Barella 94 Son 93
Isak 92

To start with, since my last write up I highlighted that the goalkeeping department was one of the weak spots for the future which has been addressed with Neuer sold to Barnsley, (who has a great manager by the way), and Chevalier coming in. I am unsure what the full deal was with Rochdale to get Chevalier (Benito here it was Pino = £15m + Chevalier and Mittelstädt) but it looks like Chevalier and Mittelstadt came in and Yeremy Pino went in the other direction. Very shrewd in my opinion even if there was more to the deal, still a good deal.

Moving to defenders Rudiger and Pavard keep their places from last season but where Tomori has dropped to 90 Todibo is the safer 90 option in the squad (woops I traded him for Diomande still think it was the right choice). A slight reduction in rating across the back line with the sale of Hernandez included in the already mentioned drop for Tomori will see more goals conceded but this may not be a concern as we look across the attacking players. For the long term there looks to be a nice succession with Quaresma, Hinshelwood and potentially Kayode waiting their turn, the latter of which for me is looking a great prospect. For now there is no rush to do anything drastic in defence. (Was £72.5m Todibo + Fer Lopez drastic?)

Next to the Midfield. Since last season the introduction of Modric is a nice short term plaster to address the positions I see as a deeper problem which will need attention in the coming season. The sale of Palinha was the safe option incase of a drop. Milinkovic-Savic was released at the beginning of the season but has just been bought back in order to cover what can only be described as a stop gap (yup 100%) with the purchase and sale of both Veerman and Mkhitaryan in one season. The defensive midfield positions look to be the area that may expose the team in the shorter term versus the other positions. Looking ahead, Hinshelwood may be the saviour but he cannot play everywhere at once. Longer term there is an absolute treasure trove of potential in the youth team with Dyer, Banzuzi and Esse being my favourites to break through to stardom, (in that order), but this will not happen in the time it takes for both Modric and Milinkovic-Savic to sail into the sunset of Soccerwiki ratings..

The attacking midfield positions have changed quite a bit with Pellegrini and Diaby going and the latter was the right thing to do. Barella for me moves from DM(C) to AM(C) and the acquisition of Son on the left makes for a very strong goal scoring threat. Kubo remains from last season, and we all love him, if you don’t, you need your head tested. Of the current players Son worries me a lot prior to the Premier League review but I cannot see him getting a -3, so anything else will only be a hit to the wages rather than a major problem. If anything does happen it is only a matter of time for one of, (or all of), the three waiting in the wings to take over from Son. Semenyo, Guessand and the jewel in the crown of Endrick won’t take long to hit 90 and from there onwards who knows. This attacking midfield could be very scary for a long time. The youth team have a few other potential world class players, notably Bardghji and Gomis, and I do like Rego a lot so that is one to watch too.

Finally the Striker….ISAK!!! Well that position is nailed down forever, pretty sure the deal was bigger than Ben Seghir, Sudakov and £15m, if not well then it is a masterstroke (Benito again, no that was the full deal). Backups without mentioning the above are not really needed so opportunities to sniff out the youth potential is probably on the cards.

In summary, there has been some real positive steps forward in one season with the only area that needs an overhaul being defensive midfielders. One more season under the current stewardship probably will see some more interesting moves which will cement the long term path for the club. I look forward to watching it

Predicted Finish: 6th, one place up from last season (but I have not looked across the whole Gameworld)

Nottingham Forest (8th)
Sommer 92
Porro 91 Marquinhos 94 Militão 93 Estupiñán 90
Caicedo 92 Camavinga 92
Sane 93 Álvarez 93 Chiesa 91
Lewandowski 95 ⭐
I am disappointed in Forest. Looking at their side and depth they have the quality for so much more than 8th and should be doing better. But I can’t see them breaking top 4 without a tactical change.

In goal Sommer is a solid choice and they’ve got 3 potential 90+ goalkeepers as back up. The issue is 4 GKs is overkill and Lunin is going to hit major concerns very soon as an 88. Personally I’d just back Sommer with Suzuki as back up and keep Urbig another season to see if in 2026/2027 season he takes over at Bayern.

Defensively they have one of the best back lines in the league all 90+ and a CB pairing to rival United’s. Ndicka, Khusanov and Mosquera are all terrific younger options that should develop further given time so central they look all set. In the full back positions they are spoilt for choice. LB in particular is just silly in how many young quality players could dethrone Estupiñán soon. Carreras, Barco, Netz, Garcia are all stunning options and at RB Porro and Jelert are two solid options for now and the future.

In midfield they have an excellent pairing of Caicedo and Camavinga with Diarra a promising understudy. Both have potential to be 94 rated players and so patience is needed here. In attacking midfield Karetsas is an outstanding young talent along with Uzun, but they do lack a natural starting AM so the recently risen Alvarez comes in here.

Finally in their attack they have the imperious Lewandowski who in the last two real life seasons has scored 46 league goals (Isak has 44) and so I can’t see any reason to trade him even if I believe this will be his last at Barcelona. When that happens Forest will need to move Alvarez to ST, which means someone needs to step up at CAM soon. Theres not an obvious alternative to this solution as Richarlison isn’t very good, will drop to 89/90 and probably just needs selling now. Out wide though I think they are in good knick. Schejelderup, Fernandes, Savinho and Adeyemi are good longer term replacements for Chiesa and Sanè so sit tight and watch them grow.

Predicted Finish: Around 8th (again) but definitely in Europa.

Barnsley (9th)
Neuer 93
Anton* 90 Guehi 90 Martinez 91 Shaw 92
Goretzka 91 Szoboszlai 91
Griezmann 94 ⭐️ Simons 91 Grealish 92
Benzema 92
The Barnsley and Cardiff transfer bromance continued this season with both Müller and Neuer transferring over for cash after Cardiff’s failed title gambit and reports tonight suggest there could be further deals afoot next season. A side that consistently punches above its weight and is a thorn to all who suffer a 1-0 defeat at their hands.

In goal Neuer is world class. Unfortunately injuries are affecting him now and it looks like he may only have one more world class season in him but that won’t bother Barnsley who have Atubolu waiting in the wings. I would imagine one more season and he should hit 90 but the short term gain of having a 93 keeper cannot be overstated. I do not share the popular view of others that GK doesn’t matter, it does, it’s what’s helped Cardiff in the past.

Defensively Barnsley are solid but not outstanding like some clubs above them and Shaw’s long term injury woes mean a -1/-2 is to be expected (and Barnsley have accepted an offer for him) that said Hall will hit 89 this review and has no reason not to reach 90 by winter meaning long term the position is secured. It’s a great example of using short term ratings to stay competitive while your young players develop which has been a staple of Barnsley’s squad building for as long as I can recall. Also at fullback Acheampong provides some promise if he can get a chance to show it at Chelsea. At CB they have Martinez (one of the best ball playing CBs in world football but unlucky with his injury) and Guehi another promising CB at a good age too coming off the back of a good season for Palace. Burn is a great CB/LB option who given another superb season with Newcastle and time with England should be 90+ shortly (I campaigned for this last year).

In midfield Szoboszlai, Goretzka, Taylor, Fletcher, Larsson and Casadei offer a good blend of current ability and future potential across ages. Szoboszlai should rise to 92 after his title win, Goretzka has been solid and there is 90+ potential amongst the others to eventually replace Goretzka in a few years. But for me, it’s attacking midfield wherein lies their strength. Simons, who looks destined to move this window, Carboni, Nyoni, Elliot (who had a ridiculously good Euros), Milambo (who has just moved to Brentford) are all incredibly talented young players with lots of room to grow. Combine them with Muller and Mount and you’ve got solid options that can give them time to grow. Where have we seen that said?

Finally the attack. Benzema will not drop and at 37 is still tearing up the Saudi league and Griezmann is a multitool of a forward able to add a touch of world class in any attacking position. But they are old. And we cannot get away from the fact that they need long term replacement. Woltemade is the obvious CF candidate and I’d be holding onto him with both hands given his likely move to Bayern as Kane’s successor. He was dominant in the U21 Euros and while only 87, won’t stay there for long. With Toney, Jesus (who I think will drop) and Evanilson there is probably room to let one or two go to make room for more youth investment, but I would stick with Benzema a little while longer. Jayden Danns is a very promising youth player here too but with Liverpool after a CF I’m not sure he’ll get the chances he needs to grow without a loan. In the wings Martinelli is the bright hope with Bouabré a top prospect who just needs a season to develop and get minutes but it’s Virgili who could be the next big thing at Barca. If he can break through you’re looking at a 93+ wide forward in a couple of years time. Nico Williams not moving this summer could be the best transfer never made for Barnsley.

Predicted Finish: 7th (certainly in Europe again)

Fulham (10th)
Costa 91
Dalot 90 Witsel 89 Pavlović 88 Hernández 92
Ugarte 90 Koke 91
Neto 91 Musiala 94 ⭐️ Di Maria 91
Pedro 89
Fulham have zero luck. Witsel dropped hard, Koke dropped and then Musiala suffered a horrific injury in real life that will put him out for 4 months at least. Shit is hitting the fan and it will take some excellent management to clean it all up.

Costa is a really good young GK and solid on his 91 with room to grow if/when he moves to a bigger European side. Due to only being 25 thoughts of a replacement should be the lowest of priorities with so many other positions to now sort.

Let me preface this section, it is never my intention to be rude about other teams, I do these reviews/previews for fun and so that we have a bit of discussion, maybe a few transfers and increased engagement. Ok now that’s out the way… Fulham‘s defence is really bad. It may be the worst defence in the league (sorry). Witsel was on 91 now 89, Pavlovic is a squad player at best and then below that I struggled to find someone that excited me. Youri Baas came closest and I hope could reach 90 one day but I just feel like CB is a huge glaring hole in the squad. At least at fullback Dalot and Hernandez are good, that said Dalot won’t keep his starting role for United next season and Hernandez looks set to go to Al Hilal. It doesn’t mean he’ll drop but it’s pretty much a death note to his competitive career. So again, I’m not trying to be unnecessarily negative but it feels appropriate to say this is only getting fixed by a big bunch of transfers.

Central midfield was a concern but recent developments of players like Rovella have calmed my nerves. I can see Rovella, Casadó, Wieffer, Miretti and Kokcu all at some point eventually capable of being 90 rated players. I would absolutely implore Fulham to use one of these players to buy a CB at the very least this season because they have enough midfield talent to take a hit and redistribute the player quality into their worst area. If they don’t then I cannot see how the rest of the squad isn’t pulled into regular relegation battles from now on. In attacking midfield of course Musiala is a world class player, but that was a bad injury so fingers crossed for a good swift recovery. It’s encouraging though that in AM, Fulham are stacked so again I’d be looking at using one of these players to bring in at least a 90 rated CB. Almada is a good squad option and Wanner is a promising youth prospect. The issue is neither will come close to a 94 rating so some creative transfer work could help raise the floor of the side.

Finally the attack, and it’s somewhere we can feel more hopeful again. Neto and Akliouche are two quality good age wide men (of very different styles) that should be able to serve Fulham well for a good many years. Akliouche has a bigger move in him at some point and should take over from Di Maria sooner rather than later. At CF, João Pedro has impressed so far at the club World Cup and is clearly a quality player capable of 90~92 I’d say at Chelsea. With no obvious alternatives in the squad hold onto him for dear life!

Predicted Finish: 14th (unless they sign a couple of CBs)

Southampton (11th)
Ramsdale 89
Mazraoui 90 Rrahmani 91 Ito 90 Gutiérrez 89
Onana 90 Rabiot 92
Terrier 90 Maddison 92 Kolo Muani 91
Gyökeres 92 ⭐
Southampton are a challenging side to place, there is potential here but when I look at the teams above, until Gyökeres hits higher ratings I think mid table is about right for them.

In goal we have too many similar rated options. Between Samba and Ramsdale (both 89) I’d say selling Ramsdale makes most sense, relegation in real life with Southampton (who were so shit) means he’ll drop, but he’s currently worth a bit more money so I’d sell, back Samba and then hope Vandevoordt overtakes him (which should happen soon enough).

Defensively solid but uninspiring is probably my thoughts. It’s not brilliant but it’s useable and there are some promising players coming through who should be 90-91+ players like Theate, Silva, Gutiérrez, Matisima and Fernandes. I think they’ll be fine but I feel like Silva really needs to step up into big ratings for this to become a strength. At fullback there is a solid selection and the versatile Mazraoui means they shouldn’t get caught out here for some time.

Midfield has really solid depth with lots of 90 rated options to rotate, especially after the acquisition of Fofana and a sprinkling of quality in Rabiot that should keep it competitive. Compared to the teams above them there’s surprisingly not a huge gap in ratings when it comes to midfield. Onana is probably the most likely to hit 91 in future and he’ll need to if there is no investments in the sides future here soon. The attacking midfield slots however are very strong. Maddison is a top PL quality 10, and Mora is arguably one of the brightest talents for that role around. I would hold onto both firmly and build around the potential of Mora.

Finally in attack, Gyökeres at 92 is a top CF and looks like he’s joining Arsenal in real life which gives him access to higher ratings. With Beier at 22/88 and Tel 20/87 I think personally the likes of Abraham are taking up unnecessary squad space and so I’d sell him and Wind to gamble on two young players instead. The wings are ok but Terrier won’t rise off 90, Kolo Muani isn’t really a winger (and won’t start at PSG) so it’s probably their weakest spot in the side. I’d strongly suggest some investment here as a strong attack is vital to move up the table.

Predicted Finish: 12th

Milton Keynes Dons (12th)
Di Gregorio 89
Araújo 92 Bremer 92 Le Normand 91 Zinchenko 91
Çalhanoglu 93 ⭐️ Xhaka 92
Barcola 91 David 91 Baena 91
Vlahovic 91
Nearly every side in the league has an MK Dons player and they are building an impressively deep and young talented squad in attack. But… they’ve got an issue and it’s a biggie.

Goalkeeper - not good enough. Ter Stegen at Liverpool or Pickford at Chelsea would be absolutely no brainer signings for MK Dons. It gives them time for Restes to develop further and while he’s an 87 he won’t get concerns. Do it, do it yesterday.

In defence I’m really impressed. Their CB options are really good, deep and at good ages where there are no major concerns about dropping off or exiting peaks. I suspect Hancko has been signed not for CB but as LB rotation with Zinchenko (who will drop) while Hancko has been linked with a possible move to Juventus. They have some excellent youth options too in Smets and Scalvini (top prospect) with Lomónaco a wild card option out on loan. I really can’t see much wrong here. At fullback I believe Araujo will be the preferred RB option since the Molina/Vanderson trade, a sensible one for both parties. And finally LB they have Zinchenko through the draft. I think this is their weakest area of defence as they need someone better and consistently playing to be the main man until Diego León steps up (which may take some time).

In midfield they have a problem. Çalhanoglu is leaving Inter and his destination means his rating will drop. Then Xhaka is also entering his older years too. The signing of Palhinha is a stop gap, he’s not playing for Bayern and is entering the wrong age bracket too. So while the ratings are good 93/92/91 respectively you have to wonder how long for? Lamine Camara is an excellent youth option to have and Joey Veerman (ex Cardiff) should help soften the decline somewhat and there is also Djaoui Cissé coming through. In attacking midfield they have options but not natural ones. I always try and put out the best rated side that can play positions when listing XIs so David ends up dropping as the No10 as Pellegrini dropped to 90. With Max Doman in the academy and Tunkara (a very special player) I’m sure long term they will have two 90 rated young players.

Finally the attack is really promising. Nadson, Varela (who I was so close to picking), Camarda, Molebe, Satpaev are all superbly talented young players and with Baena, Barcola, David etc there’s enough young quality to hold off until they break through. Amoura looks to have the right physical and technical level for a step up too and the signing of Pérez adds a bit of experience and quality to the depth of the attack. A bit of patience and I believe they’ll have some 92 rated forwards next year.

Predicted Finish: Top 10 hopefuls

Sunderland (13th)
Hrádecký 90
James 91 Skriniar 91 Badiashile 89 Grimaldo 92
Neves 91 Locatelli 91
Pepê 89 Palacios 91 Olmo 92 ⭐
Lukaku 91
Sunderland are a side flirting with relegation but holding onto a midtable position in the end. There are some quality players but the lack of star quality presents some interesting problems for them.

In goal Hrádecký is solid but at 35 there are better options at external. Josep Martinez isn’t someone on my radar either so it could do with a bit of work. I don’t think it will define their season but it’s a quick fix.

Defensively Sule’s drop has hit them hard. 91-89 in a year is a tough pill to swallow but with Logan Costa (still salty on this one as I’m convinced they only bid because I did) and Badiashille they’ve got two good younger options. I think Costa has room to grow to 90 but that might be his peak. Someone whose peak could be far higher though is 15 year old Deinner Ordóñez. Whisper it quietly but I think he’ll be world class and his country’s best ever CB option.. Grimaldo is a top quality LWB and Reece James when fit is superb at RWB too but the big question mark is who’s next in line?

Neves, Locatelli (ex Cardiff) and Palacios are solid starters and at fine ages so nothing drastic is needed here but I think all are at their peaks Asllani (also ex Cardiff) is a promising player going the right direction and in attacking midfield Olmo is top quality deputised by Tillman coming off an outstanding season, and Fabbian too. It’s probably their strongest section of the team apart from….

The wings oh my lord the wings. Well if we count Guler as a winger, then the wings! Moore, Yang, Soulé, Diallo and Guler are all stunning options to have and with a bit of time will eventually flourish into 90+ players. So while right now the starting wingers are awful, in 2 years I can see it being the strongest section of the squad. The striker position is fine, but uninspiring it’ll do but I don’t think anyone will develop enough here to make them challengers.

Predicted Finish: Lower midtable

Arsenal (14th)
Ederson 94
Dodo 89 Ake 92 Lukeba 89 Blind 89
Kamara 90 Majer 89
Salah 96 ⭐️ Fernandes 94 Henrichs* 89
Zirkzee 89
A disappointing season when you have 3 world class players capable of more, but with so many holes emerging around the side is it time to sell one to raise the floor?

Ederson is world class however is heavily linked to an eventual move to Saudi and so it’s ticking time bomb of a conundrum. If the question is who could replace him the answer isn’t Vítek.

Defensively things are mixed. Ake and Lukeba are really good, Lukeba is an excellent prospect and Ake is versatility and quality in a neat package. Unfortunately he’s being managed minutes wise a little more this season with Gvardiol and I’d expect, with Ait-Nouri’s arrival, for him to lose even more. Fullback is a major concern for me here though Álex Jiménez has a lot of promise it’s just that it’ll take time for him to reach 89 to displace some of the lower quality options that have to take minutes.

In midfield we’ve got the same issues as when I previously reviewed Arsenal, with the same promise too. I think Baleba is 89 this review and potentially a 92 maybe more player for the future and Onyedika is a solid 88 with a little more room to grow. Essugo has promise too and so if they can hold on a little longer the midfield 3 should be 90+. Fernandes in attacking midfield is probably getting a -1 this review. You can’t finish as low as United have without it being a risk. Even on 93 though he’s a world class AM and has at least 2 more years of high ratings in him. My advice would be to keep him, even through the drop, as I can’t see a better younger player being traded in to replace him.

Finally the attack. Salah is world class but 33 and realistically this is his last season of elite performance potential. It’s a tough one but now is the time to trade him because you’re going to lose that 96 within the next 2 years and if he drops down to 94 all of a sudden the offers become cash over P/E. It will mean some short term growing pains but I think if you leave it until next summer you run the risk of trading a Saudi bound 34 year old.

Predicted Finish: Relegation threatened.

Hereford (15th)
Raya 92
Mukiele 89 Kim 92 Cubarsi 90 Acuña 89
Thuram 90 Gallagher 90
Olise 93 Kulusevski 92 Sabitzer 90*
Haaland 96 ⭐
The king has left, long live the king. After 9 years of outstanding service, 995 games and 2088 points Phil K finally retired. An absolute legend, gent and one hell of a scouter/player. His absence is strongly felt and he leaves incredibly big shoes to fill. Enter @Sandyman.

In goal Raya is amongst the best in the world and could rise further if Arsenal can get over the line next season (I think they can) weirdly they are the only side with only one GK so I’d be looking for a young backup who can grow.

Defensively they have wonderkid Pau Cubarsi. I complained to every level of staff that I’m aware of at SM about this rise to 90. Let’s just say I 100% expect a bigger rise before Christmas as long as he continues to start. Him and Kim are a solid duo and not something I’d mess with. They have so many top CB prospects too Vuskovic, Ramirez, Martin and Doukoure all capable of 90s. The fullback options are also pretty good, Kerkez will be a world class player and easily 90+ by next summer and the likes of Bard, Fresneda and Martin offer great upside so it’s only really RB where they’ll have to wait for a 90+ option or engage in a transfer.

Central midfield is clearly the side’s weakness Brozovic and Sabitzer need selling. They take up wages and squad space that could be used to invest in up and coming talents more and will only cause concern issues down the line as Thuram and Gallagher are already better ages on the same rating (although potentially at their peaks now) and Sarr has the potential to grow too. With Froholdt, Junyet, Amougou, Ordonez, Scott and Chukwuemeka I just don’t see the value of keeping the older players around. There’s good potential and space for better. In attack in midfield Kulusevski is a good option but maybe a dropper to 91, he’d still be a very good starter to have but it’s something to consider. I can’t imagine there will be too much concern though as Montoro, Buonanotte and Echeverri are excellent youth options in reserve.

Finally the attack. Wow! Haaland and Olise are world class (although Haaland only has 2 more league goals than Isak in the last two seasons) and should be built around and not sold at any cost. What excites me here though is Madueke (off to Arsenal) and Diao who are two excellent young wingers capable of taking the LW spot very soon. The other CF options aren’t quite as promising but with Haaland only 24 I don’t know many who would be concerned.

Predicted Finish: Bottom half

AFC Bournemouth (16th)
Onana 91
Kadioglu 90 Schär 90 Aguerd 90 Hincapié 91
Guimarães 92 Mac Allister 93
Raphinha 94 ⭐Isco 91 Trossard 91
Moreno 90
Bournemouth are a side who will always flirt with relegation if they cannot sort out the central defence and striking units.

Onana is a potential dropper and his backup Sanchez has an outside chance at +1. If that happens they’ll be a real conundrum for the manger. Which one’s a keeper? Risser isn’t widely known yet but give him 2 more years and I expect he’ll be a much higher rating than his 78.

Kadioglu and Hicanpié are two excellent and versatile players that should be mainstays I the defence for another 4+ years both at good ages and ratings with I suspect a little more room to grow to 91 and 92 respectively. The issue is they are forced to play slightly out of their main positions at RB and LB. Aguerd is ok but Schär now is approaching 34 and doesn’t have the physicality of many other PL CBs. Coppola is an outstanding option in the youth side and Bassey had an ok season at Fulham but it certainly feels like they either need a LB or a CB now.

In midfield they have the accused rapist Thomas Partey. I’d have sold him for cash to let him rot in external. Beyond that the midfield is excellent. Bruno and Mac Allister are one of the best CM pairings in the league and they have solid back up in Alvarez, Varela and Nunes (who will be a RB very soon once his position edit is loaded). Then in attacking midfield there is the technical brilliance of Isco (recently risen). The obvious concern here is age but having said that Steijn had a superb real life season and maybe has a bit more about him in terms of a bigger rise.

Finally the attack… it’s a bit of a let down at CF. Strand Larsen hopefully gets a +1 with a tiny chance of more, Stansfield looks good in the championship but is capped low by it and Moreno is such a stop gap. It needs sorting. Out wide, as predicted, Raphinha rose and Trossard is holding onto the other flank at least until Barnes or Adringa overtake him.

Predicted Finish: Relegated

Middlesbrough (17th)
Verbruggen 88
Molina 91 Schlotterbeck 91 Pacho 91 Dimarco 92
Reijnders 92 Ruiz 92
Palmer 93 De Brunye 94 ⭐Gakpo 91
Marmoush 91
Middlesbrough are probably one of my favourite sides. The strength and depth of their talent pool in all positions means I think they have a genuine chance to surpass United in the next 2 years, if they had a manger who could set them up tactically and he won’t like me saying this but…. I think he’s hoarding a bit too much and should now be ambitious in making multi player deals for the absolute best talents. It’s the only way for them to take the big step up, get the best attackers in.

In goal Middlesbrough have to be patient. Verbruggen will eventually hit 90 and unless they went for Ter Stegen my advice would be wait. Him and Penders are an excellent pair of promising keepers but there will be short term pain as a result.

Defensively this side is fecking ridiculous. Pacho and Schlotterbeck are excellent (how Pacho isn’t a 92 I don’t know?!) and beyond that they have Zeze (absolute bargain!), Canvot, Belocian, Zabarnyi (ex Cardiff) and Quansah as promising younger options all capable of hitting 90 and some higher. At full back Di Marco, Mingueza, Molina, Gusto as their best current 4 with Baum, Reid and Doue as young up and comers. Being honest I was a bit annoyed they went for Doue, it’s a bit overkill and he’s not going to get anywhere near what he’s got in the squad currently.

Midfield is improving, Reijnders has hit 92 and is at a club where a future 93+ is often expected, Ruiz is solid, but replaceable and Fratessi is just going to get in the way and should be sold now to make room for: Zaire-Emery, Yalcouye, Lopez, Santos, Bouaddi, Jashari, Anderson and Vermeeren. Again loads of outstanding talents but instead of hoarding them now is the time to use them to get in the absolute best! They could comfortably lose 4 of those and not feel any loss. Then attacking midfield is also stacked. De Brunye I think was got very reasonably considering the talent retained, and there’s still Palmer and Nebel as well as too many wingers who can also play AM to list Doue being one.

Finally the forwards. It’s the only position I think they aren’t stacked in. Wingers, they are. Gakpo, Doue, Toure, Doak, Elanga, Rodriguez all brilliant options but then we get to striker. Marmoush, Emegha and the others are good but not world class for my liking. I think this is the area of the pitch they could sacrifice a load of midfielders or RBs/CBs or even some wingers to improve upon. Goals win you games and do they have enough?

Predicted Finish: Surviving relegation (just)

West Ham (1st Promoted Champion)
Mamardashvili 91
Cambiaso 90 Tah 92 Laporte 91 Cardona 90
Tchouameni 93 ⭐️ Anguissa 91
Mbeumo 90 De Paul 92 Eze 90
Watkins 92
I give up. No point reviewing a side that won’t listen anyway.

I’ll give them one bit of advice. The deal they’ve been offered solves their biggest issue which is De Paul is going to MLS. Shift Eze to CAM and play player offered at LW. Watkins is getting old, need a young striker with 90+ potential. Bring one in in a deal for a player you don’t need because you have two 90+ players ahead of them. Solved.

Rochdale (2nd Promoted Runner Up)
Maignan 92
Hakimi 94 ⭐Giménez 91 Calafiori 90 Mendes 92
Hjulmand 90 Cardoso 90
Pino 90 Burkardt 90 Tsygankov 90
Guirassy 92
I really like what Rochdale are building. Drafts have of course helped them massively here and accelerated all of the newer sides to a level that would have taken years previously but Rochdale are good scouters of talent too.

Magnan (draft) is a solid 92 but it’s Joan Garcia that is the best talent. I was this close to signing Garcia until I reached an agreement for Chevalier and Mittelstadt which was too good a deal to turn down as it gave me a Neuer replacement and a solid (should be 91) LB. Had that deal not happened I have the following in my notes.
Joan Garcia - Massively undervalued!!! Best external Neuer replacement - Linked with Arsenal/Barcelona - Definite riser to 88?

In defence Hakimi and Mendes are the best fullbacks in the world. Mendes should be 94 soon. He’s world class. Again he was a draft pick and he was my No1 choice. Aina should be a riser to 90 if there is any consistency from SM rating based on La Liga risers which would give them good depth. Then at CB they’ve got a lovely blend of talent and youth. Konsa (ex Cardiff), Murillo (riser), Ribeiro (v.good two footed option) and Comuzzo are an incredibly strong array of options. Patience and you’ll have more 91+ players here.

Midfield is probably the weakest link but it’s ok. Hjulmand is a quality option but will likely peak at 91, Cardoso got an above expected rise l, Nmecha who should hit 90 and Agoume (who I went for and got bid against) has a lot of promise. I just don’t see a potential world class player in any of them yet. Attacking midfield is a similar issue. Some promise but nothing that leaps out as a wow!

Finally the attack. I like it, I don’t love it. Pino is for me the best hope at 92+ they have, he’s a superb footballer and not someone I would usually trade (but was desperate for a GK and LB). Moreira and Gruda I think are closest then to that potential and Ndoye should be 91 potential too. The strikers are solid in Guirassy, Jackson and Burkardt but there isn’t anyone with world class potential here.

Predicted Finish: Lower midtable flirting with relegation.

Bristol City (5th Promoted Play Offs)
Sá 89
Dumfries 92 Romero 92 Danso 89 Guerreiro 90
Tielemans 91 Neves 92
Kluivert 89 McTominay 92 Garnacho 89
Martínez 94 ⭐
:lol::lol: Beating Blackburn and the resulting rage quit was hilarious. Well played.

In goal Sa isn’t good enough. Go buy Pickford. Simple. You need a 90+ GK to survive I don’t care what anyone else says.

Defensively they have some top players in Dumfries and Romero (linked with a move away) but they could do with some more signings here as I struggle to see how they’ll ever improve here without more additions.

In midfield Neves is a potential future 94 player without any doubt in my mind now. With McTominay and Tielemans they have a really solid midfield base to build from. Gonzalez offers good depth here along with Gomes and there is a promising young Guille Fernandez coming through too. They could probably do with a few more talents here and have the squad space but I am a fan of Kluivert who should hit 90.

Finally in attack, they have some high potential in Garnacho out wide but then nothing else of note. Striker however is one of the best combinations of peak, emerging and prospect with Martinez, Samu and Obi in the league. Whilst other sides have better rated options (Haaland, Kane etc) I don’t think they then have the potential that Bristol have on their books all except one side, Cardiff (I do think Isak, Endrick and Kostoulas/Mhueka/Bro Hansen is better).

Predicted Finish: Midtable surprise

Frank's Season 34 Div 2 Previews
Place holder 5 actual

We finally kick off our preview/review or whatever this is for Division 2 where last minute play off drama resulted in the extermination of our Litter Bug. There’s some real quality in the league and with new arrivals from Division 3 and our relegated sides from Division 1 it’s going to be a tight season.

Benito here kicking things off with Wolverhampton Wanderers and then I’ll be handing the reigns over to the rest of Division to a very special someone… but I’ll let them introduce themselves.

Wolverhampton Wanderers (18th Relegated)
Simón 91
Ryerson 89 Hien 90 Buongiorno 91 Akanji 92
Zubimendi 92 ⭐️ Tonali 91
Brandt 91 Sancet 91 Lee 90
Openda 91
What went wrong Wino?! A dismal showing from Wolves last season who will surely be hoping for instant promotion. The squad has a real mismatch in some areas but overall looks good enough for Division 1.

In goal I was shocked to see the age of Simón but on 91 it’s simple, keep him and then Backhaus to take over in 4/5 years time badum tss. While it’s not the strongest position in the league it’s absolutely solid.

In defence things are really mixed. Theres not a natural RB/LB option of top quality so Ryerson and Akanji are best played together with the latter out of position to maintain ratings. It’s messy, and as such I’d be doing everything to bring in some fullbacks as it’s going to become an issue sooner rather than later. I’d probably have sold Simikan by now after the Saudi move, he’s not needed as even Hien (90) doesn’t get a start. There’s definitely some promise in CB with Reis, Simic and Ramon and even Hartman could be a starting LB (90) eventually.

In midfield they have a plethora of good players Bajcetic and Zubimendi are a great pair of young and younger options that can control a game from deeper and Bennacur offers solid rotation. The purer central midfielders are also excellent: Tonali, Mayulu and Jones are solid options at good ages but its attacking midfield where they are overstocked. Sancet, Rogers and Brandt are all superb options but very soon with Rogers rising they will get concerns unless played out wide.

They’ve finally sorted their wings out! Gittens is a good pick up (but very costly) so him and Lee should hold good ratings enough to rise again. Openda in attack is a good age and rating but he’s stagnated. Only Stasin can challenge him for a place in the squad so more work is needed. My advice, trade a lot more for high rated players.

I’ll now be handing over the reigns to…

Welcome to “Talk to Frank”

Firstly I recognise this is an absolute monster of a post and it has taken me 1 hour and 40 mins to compile (in-between my cat getting chased by a dog who is not walked on a lead…sometimes I hate people!!!!!!).

I cannot and will not say all the rest of Div 2 will be like this, but there are fewer teams so I will try and break it down as much as this for all of the teams.

What to expect?

“Frank’s” Hot Sauce: an intro and attempted comedic manager-baiting (I said manager, you dirty minded people).

The “Frank” review: what I think your team's makeup is (I will cheat and peek if I cannot make it out) and where I see strengths and weaknesses.

Talk to Frank: your friendly advice section for at least 2 things I would do with the club and if I think a squad is a dumpster fire....I will just chuckle and keep that to myself. That and don't do drugs. (Google “talk to Frank”it if you do not get it)

Tottenham (20th Relegated)
Pope 89
Teze 88 Vivian 91 Gatti 90 Digne 90
De Jong 93 ⭐️ Rongier 89
Musah 88 Félix 90 Niguez 88
En-Nesyri 90

"Frank's" Hot Sauce: Spurs' Tough Break

Alright, to begin the alternative review cycle with Tottenham Hotspur, who have found themselves at the foot of "Div 2," facing the unwelcome reality of relegation. Now, I know that real life is sometimes different from this Gameworld but I have certainly heard (or imagined) some... enthusiastic comments from Manchester United fans still smarting from a certain Europa League encounter. There is nothing like a grudge to warp reality.

But let's not lose sight of the bigger picture, and more importantly, the efforts of "Big Red," the manager at the helm of this Spurs ship. From where I sit, it looks less like a failing and more like a testament to the brutal realities of football's unforgiving pyramid.

Remember, this is the same Big Red who, against predictions – with Blackburn the playoff favorites, no less – managed to secure promotion to Div 1 the season prior. Getting a team up is one thing; staying there, especially when facing a significant jump in quality and resources, is an entirely different beast. The "game engine," if you can really call it that, well some prefer to call it watching someone have a root canal with no anaesthetic, can be a harsh mistress, and it's clear Big Red had a monumental task simply trying to keep their head above water.

So, while the outcome is relegation, it's fair to say the manager did what they could with the tools at hand. Sometimes, the odds are simply stacked against you, and survival becomes the new ambition. There's no shame in battling hard and ultimately falling short, as long as you never give up trying.

With the dust settled on a challenging season, the focus now shifts. What's the narrative for Spurs as they prepare for life back in Div 2? What's the strategy for Big Red and the squad? Are we looking at a determined push for an immediate return, or a period of rebuilding and consolidation? Lay out the plan for the coming campaign; the fans (and your humble correspondent) are eager for the next installment.

The "Frank" Review:
Pope (89)
Teze (88) Gatti (90) Vivian (91)
De Jong (93)
Niguez (88) Musah (88) Rongier (89) Digne (90)
Felix (90) En-Nesyri (90)

Well first things first, I normally default a formation to 4-2-3-1 (B) but I could not see how to make that fit, therefore I had to look at how Big Red has actually set up his team for the friendlies. Three central defenders allowed me to better understand not only the team's makeup but the structure of the squad going forwards. Peaking is cheating but also satisfying at the same time.

In goal, one of my personal favourite keepers and a Barnsley and Gillingham legend. In real life he is on borrowed time with Newcastle, and he has been overlooked review after review. If he doesn't get his 90 now I would consider switching him out. There are a couple of keepers available that would do well for an upgrade without too much work. The two backups will not cover the gap in the short term when Pope starts to drop nor likely will they in the long term.

Defence needs to have the consideration of no full backs and three central defenders. With that being said Vivian is class and will remain so into the future, Gatti is not far behind him, however Teze is a concern for me. He played 25 times in all competitions for Monaco and averaged 36 minutes, at 25 and 88 rated this, I fear is his ceiling. When you look beyond this and go deeper into the squad there are definitely some prospects. Archie Gray, Charlie Cresswell and Filippo Mane stand out to me. I am unsure on the other players so apologies if I have missed someone.

Midfield has a perfect fulcrum in De Jong, so this bolsters some of the weaker 88 rated players in Niguez and Musah. Niguez had potential but it seems to be gone now with a career that has faltered, however Musah was tracked by Napoli, but now West Ham is a rumour, and noone wants that for their game world players. Rongier is solid and I have no issue with him, however Digne is 31 and touted for a move to Turkey so not sure how long his 90 will stay if he keeps it this review and then moves. The potential behind these four is probably lacking in notoriety. Archie Gray again fills the DM(C) role but the only other player is Rak-Sakyi, but he really needs to break through this season for Palace as he has been talked about for a while but I have not seen the goods delivered yet.

For the attack minded players we have Felix and En-Nesyri. Felix has not been able to settle ANYWHERE in his career, and I wonder if he is not a good person in the dressing room (just speculation) but his next move may be Benfica. This may turn his career around but 90 may be his ceiling which is absolutely fine at 25 years old. En-Nesyri on the other hand has been an absolute goal machine for Fenerbaçe with 30 goals in 52 games averaging 1.7 goals a game which is brilliant. If however that rumour of a sale to Saudi comes true then it will be interesting to see if he drops or if he is like many other players who seem to hold their ratings there. The club world cup has shown the Saudi teams are not to be scoffed at. Backing up the strikers is Evan Ferguson. This is a player I think Brighton protected too much and should have let him grow on the pitch. Their loss may well be Roma’s gain and I think he will tear Serie A apart if he moves there and could well see him hitting 91+ in the next few seasons if he takes it seriously.

Talk to "Frank":

In summary there are a few fantastic players in this team but they are the spine of a skeleton where the rest of the team is made up of potential long lost, possibilities not seen through and a few shining stars Big Red will hope do not materialise into the two aforementioned types. For me, a midfield revamp and a new Keeper is the minimum investment, and I would ship out some of the age 22 and up potentials that just haven't or won't make it rated 87 or below. I have been known to be wrong so don't b
lame me if a future worldie is let go.

Frank's Hot Sauce:

Alright, folks, gather 'round, because we're shining a spotlight on a team that almost made it! That's right, we're talking about Manchester City, under the astute guidance of "Gagan 06." Now, for those of us who appreciate the finer points of football history – and by "finer points," I mean anything that doesn't involve the blue side of Manchester – maybe Gagan will have a team higher in the league than the real Manchester City. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the judges in the historical 115 rule breaches.

Finishing a respectable third, they were neck and neck with Norwich, only to be pipped at the post on goal difference. A valiant effort, certainly. But the real story, the one that truly tugs at the heartstrings (or perhaps emits a knowing smirk, depending on your allegiances), is their playoff heartbreak.

Imagine the scene: the cusp of Div 1, the promised land! And who stands in their way? None other than Blackburn Rovers, a team, as we understand it, currently as rudderless as a ship in a fog. Oh, the irony! One can only imagine the collective sigh of disappointment from the blue half of Manchester. So close, and yet, so... Div 2. A real shame, isn't it? Perhaps next season they'll find that elusive gear. Or maybe they'll just enjoy another year of "almost." Only time will tell!

Di Lorenzo (90) Magalhaes (93) De Vrij (91) Van de Ven (90)
Fernandez (92) Koopmeiners (92)
Rodrygo (93) Cherki (90) Mitoma (90)
Oshimen (93)

Well to be honest this team scares me a little, I am sort of glad they are not in Div 1 as I do not believe I would beat them. On to the breakdown though.

Goalkeeper is fine. He will do a job. Spurs will actually need to pull their finger out of their backside for him to rise. He has the potential but does his team? Epolo as backup looks okay too. Game time and luck is what is needed for him. Nothing to do in this position though.

Defence is a weaker part of the team but c’mon, it is solid nonetheless. Maghalaes is great and will be at least 93 for a while. Van de Ven on the left is something he does for his national team but not for Spurs as often (if their full squad is ever fully fit). Same story for him as with Vicario. Di Lorenzo is 31, but in Serie A that is young for a defender, so short term he is good on the right. De Vrij however I was surprised to see he kept his 91. I might have done a tear down of the Inter defenders and he is generally their 6th best defender out of 8, but his champions league displays were phenomenal. Each position has an admirable backup but I do not see Couto getting more than 88 ever. In the youth squad there are some really exciting prospects. My pick is Farre, but if Simpson-Pusey can get a move then he could be phenomenal. PL2 player of the season last season so he is ready to play regular football.

Midfield has Fernandez and Koopmeiners. I do not think I can break this down other than to say….midfield recruitment complete. Follow this with Mainoo, Ouatarra and Bellingham and humana, humana, humana…sorry, I got excited.

Attacking positions we have Rodrygo who is a monster and should definitely be more than 93 and his potential move will be one to watch. Cherki to Manchester City is a great move and ejects Grealish from the real city team. Mitoma is probably the weak link but Johnson and Saelemakers are good backups. Finally upfront we have Osmihen who is incredibly good, but playing in Turkey will not be good for his rating long term. Sorloth at 91 does not really have a place and he will gain concerns in every cycle and lose value. For youth we have Mastantuono who I have been waiting to see kick on and Garcia. Also Guiu, Lacey, Rigg and Lankshear will be good to watch this season.

Talk to Frank:

In summary, this squad is actually very very well built, I am extremely jealous of a lot of the players Gagan has collected quietly in the background. If this team does not get to Div 1 this season I will be very surprised.

For my 2 thoughts. De Vrij and Sorloth can be used to prize away a defender to replace De Vrij or/and a better backup on the right back than Couto. Mitoma is also someone I would look to try and upgrade. Really though I am clutching at straws and probably saying nothing that Gagan does not already know.

Nice squad building!

“Frank’s” Hot Sauce:

Norwich finished a respectable 4th in the table. They even managed to rack up the same points tally as Manchester City, who finished 3rd. A solid effort, no doubt. Now, a crucial point here for the uninitiated: only the top two teams in this league get the golden ticket of automatic promotion. So, while Manchester City did edge out Norwich on superior goal difference to claim that 3rd spot, both teams were ultimately destined for the playoffs. The goal difference decided who got the higher seed among the playoff hopefuls, not their ultimate promotion fate.

Now, here's a curious little nugget for you: out of the four teams that made it into the playoff picture, Norwich was the one with the lowest "goals for" column. Think about that for a second. Fourth in the league, but not exactly tearing up the nets. It tells a story, doesn't it? Perhaps a testament to a sturdy defense, or maybe, just maybe, a hint that the attacking gears weren't quite as well-oiled as their top-four counterparts.

And then came the ultimate test: the playoffs. Their journey, alas, was a brief one. They ran head-first into Bristol City in the first round, and that, as they say, was that. Bristol City, as we now know, went on to clinch promotion to Div 1. For Norwich, it was a bitter pill – so close, yet so far from the promised land. The dream of top-flight football, a mere whisper away, evaporated in a single knockout tie.

At the helm for all this was "the crw." Now, a manager's job is a thankless one at the best of times, and "the crw" certainly guided the team to a strong league finish. Fourth place is no fluke. But when you're looking at the fine margins – the goal difference that settled their seeding, the early playoff exit – one can't help but wonder if there was a final piece of the puzzle missing. Was it a lack of cutting edge? A tactical misstep in the big moments? These are the questions that linger when a season ends with a 'what if.'

So, there you have it. Norwich City's last season: a solid foundation, a strong league showing, but ultimately, a playoff heartbreak that left them just short of the ultimate prize. The blueprint was there, but the execution, when it mattered most, just wasn't quite enough.

The “Frank” Review:

Sels (88)
Vazquez (88) Botman (91) Martinez (91) Gaya (90)
Kante (91) Gundogan (92)
Mkhitaryan (91) Joelinton (90) Dybala (91)
Kleindeinst (90)

Goalkeeper…..what? An 88 rated keeper, well blow me! Keep up the good work with Sels, but this is a week point of the squad and there are better options out there with higher ratings. In backup is Kochen, young and green but added to the pre season tour for the (yet again) injured Ter Stergen.

Defence also holds an 88 rated player in Vazquez but next to him is Botman who crw will be hoping for less time on the physio bench this coming season for Newcastle. The recent purchase of Martinez is a good one (I bid myself, a good short term move imo). Gaya makes up the final spot on the left. To be honest the defensive numbers at the end of the season might be a bit of a concern for Norwich, the more drafts that are occurring the scarier some of the attacks are getting in Div 2. Looking at backups and the future Todibo and de Roon are good for centre backs but injuries to either of the full backs will cause problems in the team and a change of formation may be needed. Weah, Martin and Sangare have a future imo and it will be good to see if they get games this season.

Midfield with Kante and Gundogan is nice and solid with saudi club players keeping their high ratings currently, but for how long will this last for some of these older players is the question. Kante and Gundogan at 34 may be something to watch out for. Backup looks shaky here, yes Joelinton and Mkhitaryan can play here but this leaves other positions open to fill. De Roon again can play here so likely it is him that would be used. For youth Marin is 100% the one to watch.

Attacking options are good, Mkhitaryan and Dybala taking up the wings at 91 and Joelinton in the middle of the part is solid. Kleindeinst up top is okay, he had a great previous season earning him a move, but watching him with Germany, I really do not think he will cut it and fear for him in the coming season. The issue here is age, Mky is 36 and Dybala 31 (on the cusp) look a bit long in the tooth, kramaric at 34 as backup again solid rating but “how long for” echoes in my head as I type this out. HOWEVER Wissa should get a bump allowing for some sales. Nusa looks exciting and Gomes could do well. Nwaneri has potential as showed last season with Arsenal as well as some cameos for the England U21 winning team. There are a few other potentials in the youth ranks but I am unsure on their true capabilities, feel free for some to prove me wrong, however Liam Delap (out on loan for crw) is one that will be in the team in less than a year.

Talk to Frank:

The team looks like it has a few areas of improvement, short term wins are to replace the 88 rated keeper and defender, there are options out there that are 89 or 90 that will help shore up the average defensive rating against the algorithm. Also age concerns me. Now before you lot jump on me saying “you treat over 28’s like they are dead” summarising a real quote to me from a manager, (which is wholly untrue), but it is about the timing of when rating drops happen and the saleability of a number of players at the same time. This squad worries me more that the backup is not quite there yet for some of the potential drops in the next 6 months, and a bit of a flip in approach could help this without having to get into swaps with other managers.

“Frank's” Hot Sauce

Last season, the Steel City's red and white half found themselves in that most unenviable of positions: 7th place. One spot outside the playoffs. A glance at the table would tell you they were gnawing at the heels of Blackburn, but ultimately, they fell eight points short.

Now, a certain school of thought, one whispered in press boxes and debated over lukewarm pints, suggests that if "Litterbug," Blackburn's former manager, had packed his bags sooner, Sheffield United might have squeezed past. However, an eight-point deficit is a fair gap. It would have required a truly monumental unraveling from Blackburn – Litterbug would have needed to unleash a tantrum of epic proportions, spitting toys out of the pram with the force of a small hurricane, to truly derail their campaign enough for the Blades to just waltz into that playoff spot. It's a tempting "what if" for the romantics, but football, as we know, rarely plays out like a perfectly scripted drama.

However, here's a stat that truly jumps off the page when reviewing their last season's performance: out of all the managed teams in Div 2 – a tidy eight of them, amidst the dozen system-controlled outfits – Sheffield United notched the lowest "goals for" tally by a considerable margin. Twenty goals behind their closest competitor on that front! That, my friends, screams a lack of firepower. It doesn't take a seasoned scout to know that if a team isn't consistently putting the ball in the net, it's not consistently winning games, regardless of how solid its defense might be. There's clearly a missing ingredient in that attacking recipe, and a deeper dive into their personnel would likely confirm what the raw numbers already tell us.

But it's not all gloom for the Blades. In the grand scheme of Sheffield football, the red and white half can certainly hold their heads high. They finished well above their bitter rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, who currently reside in the mid-table mediocrity of Div 3. A small comfort, perhaps, when a playoff dream slips away, but local bragging rights are, and always will be, a significant victory in their own right.

So, Sheffield United's last season was a tale of frustrating proximity to success, hampered by a glaring deficiency up front. They were close, but not quite sharp enough to cut into those playoff places.

Goalkeeper is class, a good age with a good team. No change needed and gives the 3 youth players across 3 top Series A teams a chance to cut their teeth. I really like this tactic, nicely played here.

Before I get into the defence side of the teardown I would like to say something first. Although on first glance when you look at the ratings across the team, you could say overall it looks “poor” but in no way do I think that is the case. This team feels on the cusp of something, it sort of reminds me of a Southend when I started this game in 2015, maybe not quite, but I did say “sort of”. In this, I respect what Bifo has done here.

I will not be commenting too much on the youth in this team as I have a sneaking suspicion that Bifo knows his stuff on Italian youth far better than I do. If I spot someone I like / know I will call it out though.

Right, back to it…

In defence there are some good prospects. Aït-Nouri’s move is great on paper, however he has a lot of players around him in that position and therefore he is going to ride the Guardiola roulette but if he backs himself he could make it. I like Beukema and think he will keep on rising and Bisseck should be rated higher than he is, oddly I missed him in my Inter defence review for my Augusto evidence. Ruggeri is absolute class too, more to come from him in the future especially as he will get more opportunities in the coming season. In backup you have Lewis, who he and Aït-Nouri will be working with Gvardiol for the Citeh left back position. Sucic has a place for the future too imo.

Midfield with Barrios as the fulcrum is good and then Ricci getting his big move to AC Milan will only be good for him. Back up rating wise is Lewis again as well as Sudakov, so nothing to worry about.

In attack Ben Seghir is excellent and I see him kicking on this coming season, when he gets his chance he WILL take it, (I hope that is not a jinx). Henrique was great for Marseille last season and earned a move to Inter and I think he will be a real catch for them, so watch this space. In the AM(C) position I was not sure who to pick Sudakov or Pisilli. I went with the former as I have heard more about him over anything else. Up front Lucca will have his loan with Napoli to build on his brilliant form last season. As an aside (and closet Napoli fan), that probably means Giovanni Simeone’s time is up at Napoli. Jesus is a nice backup for Bifo. In the youth ranks I see Warhurst, he has great potential, I just feel he needs a move to unlock it, much like many of Citeh’s youth to be honest.

Talk to Frank:

What would I do here? Honestly not much, I can see what Bifo is doing, not only is he buying ALL of the Italian youth prospects, but he is building for the future now, taking the hit on current performances and results. If I was however to do something I probably would look at putting a backup in for the right wing, just in case an injury pops up to Henrique.

Bifo, I have to say well done. Love the approach and some of the players too.

The Kidderminster Conundrum: A Story of Goals and Gaffes

When you look at the final standings for Division 2, Kidderminster Harriers finished a respectable 8th out of 20 teams. On the surface, that looks like a solid, if unspectacular, season. But as any seasoned observer knows, the real story is often hidden between the lines, and in this case, it's a tale of what might have been.

Manager Akash and his squad found themselves at the bottom of the pile when compared to the other managed teams in the division. While this isn't the sort of headline anyone wants to see, the data behind it reveals a fascinating, and ultimately frustrating, picture. The Harriers were a team of two halves, and their season was a microcosm of brilliance and fragility.

On the attack, Kidderminster was a force to be reckoned with. They found the net an impressive 88 times, a full 20 goals more than the 7th-place team, Sheffield United. That kind of firepower should have been a launchpad for a much higher finish. It speaks to a squad with genuine talent up front and a system that was clearly designed to put the ball in the back of the net.

The problem, however, wasn't what they were doing in the opposition's box; it was what was happening in their own. The Harriers' defense was, to put it mildly, their Achilles' heel. Giving up 59 goals is a statistic that simply can't be ignored, especially when you compare it to Sheffield United's tight ship of just 37 goals conceded. This dramatic difference in defensive solidity is the key factor in the 14-point gap between the two teams.

This defensive vulnerability also had a direct impact on their ability to close out games. While Sheffield United managed to grind out seven draws, Kidderminster only settled for a point on two occasions. It appears that for the Harriers, a game was either a spectacular win or a frustrating defeat, with little middle ground.

Ultimately, while the raw number of goals scored is a reason for optimism, the team's inability to keep them out is what held them back. Manager Akash has a talented group, but if they want to climb out of the bottom of the "managed" table, they’ll need to figure out how to match their offensive prowess with a much-needed dose of defensive steel. Otherwise, they risk another season of exhilarating highs and soul-crushing lows.

The Frank Review

Trubin (89)
Clauss (89) Saliba (94) Lucumi (89) Truffert (88)
Gibbs-White (90) Lobotka (91)
Bowen (91) Zaccagni (90) Kvaratskhelia (93)
Schick (91)

In the Goalkeeper position we have Trubin…I want to say he is nothing special, he could be but I do not think he is going to make it. A few to many high profile mistakes last season in real life I think will put people off. In backup Mycael is raw, and maybe a bit too raw, we shall see. Luckily keepers never get injured.

In defences Saliba is WORLD CLASS and it pains me to say that being a Manchester United fan but I have to call it as I see it. Clauss great in my humble opinion, however I think his time has passed. Truffert has a chance to shine this season at Bournemouth and finally Lucumi is okay, but probably at his peak. Coming through are a few players at the edge of their potential and I worry whether that can make it. Lacroix, Merlin, and Beraldo being those players.

In midfield Gibbs-White is special, but I feel like that him having a M(C) position is a bit wrong, but don't complain. Lobotka is solid at 91 and will be there for a while. Wharton should have hit 88 but he is going in the right direction. Bergvall and the very very special Smit are then waiting in the wings.

In the attacking midfield we have Bowen who is rock solid on the right. Centre of the park is Zaccagni who is okay and a good squad player for Lazio so will remain as he is. Finally the Georgian wizard who I truly cannot be bothered to try and spell again. The next Ronaldo? Well he came from Napoli so watch this space (Maradona, Cavani, Lavezzi, Insigne, Hamsik, McTominay to set the scene). In backup I can see Kvara pulling into the middle is Kean has a nother season like he did and gets a +1 rise. Duranville and Paez are exciting players and Enciso could kick on too. Gnonto should be more than 85 being a fully fledged Italian international, but we all know how the admins hate Italian players.

Finally in the striking position we have Schick. Solid as a rock, but on shaky ground over the next couple of seasons I think. Kean will need to take over for me as the depth in that out and out position is not there. Yes other can play there but you rob Peter to pay Paul.

Talk to Frank

What would I do…get a short term old defender in to boost the left back position, Truffert may be okay but not for a while. I also think that some of the potential players need to be moved on, gamble on a few but a striker or two in the potential bucket is missing. I just feel there are too many players on the wrong end of “they could be good” but when you say it to yourself you say it as a question not a statement. Not something to hang your hat on, but just that feeling of too many like that for me.

Lastly…..I do question the number and point of having so many sub 80 rated players on loan. Hardly any money being saved here and I am unsure if the rules we had were for week one loans or beyond.

Forget your typical sports recap; this is something else entirely. The Bury team, under the iron-willed command of manager Tom L., didn't just get promoted last season—they absolutely steamrolled the competition.

In a performance that would make any football purist's jaw drop, they finished 1st in Division 3 with a mind-boggling 37 wins and a mere single loss. That's not a season; that's a conquest. They racked up a staggering 111 points, leaving everyone else to fight for scraps in their wake.

And the numbers? They're practically off the charts. An astonishing 162 goals scored tells you they weren't just winning games—they were putting on a clinic. What’s more, they only let 23 goals get past them, proving their defense was as watertight as their attack was relentless. That leaves a jaw-dropping goal difference of 139.

Frankly, this isn't just a team; it's a phenomenon. The question on everyone's lips now is whether this Bury squad, with their almost supernatural performance, can carry this momentum into the next division. Will they be the same force of nature, or will the tougher competition finally expose a weakness?

The Frank Review

Goalkeeper is low rated but everyone is talking about him, so if he gets his rumoured move then should get a decent bump. In reserve is Lammens, but will need a move or to overtake Curtois to get a decent increase. Imo there are Keepers out there that would solidify this position a bit more

Defence. Very young and an absolute shed load of potential. Mourino and Ordonez are probably the two players that are likely not to see a rise without a move, but Veiga and Maatsen should be solid in the near future. In backup Heaven and Sarr get me excited, but looking at the team and I think the right back is the weakest area for backup.

Midfield with luiz is good, but wonder if he will keep his 91 in six months? I was torn between Torrientes and Rios as a partner and went with the former, but have no real reason and therefore give adequate cover. For youth Kone and Nyoan are the most exciting for me but some of these other names could see some rapid rises but I wonder whether any will hit 90 ever.

Attacking midfield leading with Saka is awesome, followed by Kudus who I would consider a +1 next review as I think he is awesome and will be excellent at Spurs. Finally I put Estevao in the center of the park. A touch weak in current TM rating but not in potential. I am concerned of strength in depth if a badly place injury was to hit I cannot really see what the cover is. For youth there are plenty of them, but I have not heard of most but Kusi-Asare will be one to watch and I like the cut of Liberali, the rest is too early to comment on.

Forward, Retegui is nailed on for the moment but see Sesko overtaking, or maybe Biereth or all three will be rated the same and then a need to change formation to keep them all happy, or even sell one to do so. A conundrum, but also an opportunity to push on other areas in the team.

Talk to Frank

Well, the team is very young with a full squad average age of 20. What would I do? 100% use one of those strikers to leverage some increase in defence rating but no need to include a keeper, there are keepers available. Also I think I would invest in one or 2 older players as pure squad players and release some of the random shots if space is an issue. The other side is getting some loans in to temporarily boost the ratings.

With current performance somehow you are bossing the league and maybe don't change anything, but can it last and what about injuries? I just think strength in depth is lacking but the your potential is possibly crazy, but also possibly not crazy at all, time will tell.

Oblak 93
Trent 94 Stones 93 VVD 95 Alaba 93
Rice 93 Pedri 92
Frimpong 92 Bellingham 95 N.Williams 92
Mbappe 96 ⭐️

feck me United. Calm down! 97 points, 104 goals scored only 34 conceded and just 3 losses all season. To say they have been dominant would be like saying the sun is a bit hot. So side comes close to this absolute footballing behemoth.

In goal Oblak is solid on his 93 and has plenty of years left in the tank. Kauã Santos is a promising understudy and so there’s no need for change. If it ain’t broke…

Defensively nothing has changed and ratings wise nor would I expect it to significantly in their starting back line however I remain concerned about the age of the central defence.

Pedri is due a rise and should be 94 and has the potential to go further (as does Rice). It’s just perfect and I can’t help but just admire it. *Takes another look in admiration*. The addition of Ederson was a sensible investment and he rotates nicely at a good age the only criticism (and I feel stupid saying it) is who is next in line to the trio’s throne?

Finally attack. Mbappe got 45 goals and 16 assist in 37 games that is 1.65 goal involvements per match and is absolutely ridiculous. Like mind bogglingly stupendously ridiculous. With the 2nd best N.Williams in game moving to Barcelona and putting up 14 goals and 33 assists and Pulisic managing 10/10 while one will want to upgrade the American I can only see Mbappe going eventually to 97 and Williams being a 94 rated player by this time next year.

Predicted Finish: Champions (and unlikely to ever change)

Enjoyed reading that, thanks. Completely agree on the defence issues (including leftback). Debast moving to DM is annoying but I think I now have a number of options there that I can potentially use some in deals if I can find any.

With the ages of the midfield three (26, 22, 22) I don't think I have to worry about that for a while but I will be proactive to avoid a repeat of the defence situation. Bernal's the big hope from a younger age but he's coming back from a major injury so who knows how he'll adjust.

Everton had a bad start to the season but a strong end so I think they'll be the biggest contenders from a league perspective next season (sorry @CrackersJr)

If they ever review Parma, Leoni should hit 80 at least and is linked with a few clubs (though €40m asking price is prohibitive). Struggling in quite a few areas but was fortunate last season in that I didn't have many injuries/suspensions at the same time.

With my trackrecord with CB's, he'll be 90 in no time.
Yeah, you just don't miss. Tapsoba, Gvardiol, Yoro, Huijsen. Leoni has some way to go but if he does get a move this summer, all being well he should be on that road to 90.

Great previews again Benito – I think Newcastle will be in top four again though, even without De Bruyne but it'll be hard to replicate what they did this season. Will be posting records later in the week but they've broken into the top 10 on two Division 1 records that are hard to get into.

Last season was kind of a nice pleasant surprise. Woeful start anda big mid season push with a little wobble at the end. Going to shift my focus a bit for a while try and shift off some of the oldies and look to rejuvinate the squad a bit. Overly dependant on KDB, Morata, Cara and Courtois (who had his worst season since S11).

Also delighted to get in Collins. Expensive deal but worth it in the long run me thinks swapping KDB and Diakite for CDK and Collins.

Also dont expect the opening of the season to go any better than it has done the last 2 seasons. I have no Vini for the opener and i typically play Villa as one of the early games of the season which has been a Harry Kane goal fest in every meeting we have had recently...

Hereford FC Names ST New Manager in Bold Move Following Phil K’s Retirement

Hereford FC is pleased to announce the appointment of ST as its new manager, following the retirement of the club’s most revered figure, Phil K. With a colossal 2,088 points over nearly 1,000 matches, Phil’s impact on The Bulls is the stuff of legend -- transforming the club from top to bottom and embedding its name deep in the footballing fabric of Edgar Street.

The search for a new manager has been a lengthy, extensive, meticulous and thorough process, as the club sought the right individual to build upon the incredible legacy left by Phil, who recently retired after an unparalleled tenure. He was known for his calm leadership, unmatched consistency, and unwavering loyalty, and his name is etched forever into the club’s DNA, with a vast majority considering him the GOAT manager in Hereford FC’s history. He was the embodiment of the club motto: Our greatest glory lies not in never having fallen, but in rising when we fall". He lifted this club time and again -- with strategy, passion, and a connection to supporters that few in the game ever achieve.

Reports suggest that many potential candidates hesitated to follow in the footsteps of Phil, considering his stature and legacy at Hereford and the weight of expectations that would come with the role. The appointment of ST, while met with excitement, also raises questions among some supporters and experts. ST spent nine seasons at Liverpool FC, where he registered nearly 700 points across 400 matches. His tenure was defined by stability rather than silverware -- consistently finishing mid-table, unable to push the Reds to the next level. Experts question this inability to break through to the elite level. Yet, the higher ups at Hereford will be hoping to harness his vast experience.

A crowd of 18,929 were present at Edgar Street for the unveiling event. The board spoke highly of ST, saying he has the tools, drive, and the pedigree to embrace this new challenge. ST also thanked the board for showing faith and confidence in him. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Phil for the amazing job he has done here and his shoes are undoubtedly colossal ones to fill". "This club was on the up and rising well under Phil. I want to assure the fans that we will continue rising and striving to be the best", he added.

ST will hope for better fortunes as he starts his tenure at Hereford and will want to make some statement moves as the new season dawns on us. He has vowed to honour Phil’s legacy while forging his own path. As the Bulls begin life after Phil, one thing remains certain -- the expectations are immense, the legacy is powerful, and the ambition is unchanged.

Love this @Sandyman

Looking at this I could definitely do with some peak age CM/AMs Ferguson doing too much work there.

You've got one hell of a good foundation of a team. Go get those trophies my man! :)

You've probably got one of the best youth CB partnership with Cubarsi and Vušković. Kerkez at LB/LWB will be alright too :p

Yeah, good idea swapping for younger. Hard to say how CDK and Collins will turn out but worth the risk.

Cool formatting. How did you come up with that (and the peak age ranges)
I used the athletic piece from ages ago by Tom Worville about peak ages to get the suggested ranges, there is some debate over peak but I know that it’s around what I put.

If you want me to make one for United give me a full squad list exactly like this:

Player Name | Age | Position

Ideally sort the players by age highest to lowest and by position using this format:

GK
CB
FB
CM
WM

Thanks! Got more oldies than you but I've got some good ages too. Hope once Diomande goes, Debast moves back to CB and same with Araujo if Silva gets sold (end of last season he played more at RB but the Benfica fans prefer him to Silva at CB)
Yeah you’ve been surprisingly hit with Alaba too. So LB is another issue.

Also some more bad news Damien…

He’ll be stuck on 92 now.

I think your squad profile is near perfect. You’ve got a nice slide into peaks and very few well above that are severe rating concerns. The issue is CB really.
