Random thought but I always wonder how actors cope with being in roles where much of their purpose is to be the subject of ridicule based on their appearance/weight.

Must be even more difficult if she wasn’t a professional actor.
I could be wrong but think I recall from the talking sopranos podcast that both Bobby and Ginny Sac wore fat suits to make them seem bigger, Bobby for definite at least. Probably saves the actors pride if they can convince themselves it’s just because of the fat suit.. you should definitely watch the podcast if you haven’t it’s great.

Been watching this for the first time over Ramadan, very easy to watch coming to the end of the second season. Acting and dialogue is superb, great balance of funny and serious moments; aged really well. I like that it feels a bit old, part of the charm.

Just watched the bit where those two boneheads tried doing Christopher because they "need to get ahead". 'Kin ell thought he was a gonner!

just got up to S0301 - absolute classic episode

one of the ones I remember blew me away on the first watch

the mash-up between "every breathe you take" and the "peter gunn theme" as the FEDS are stalking everyone is a sublime piece of editing

Yeah it’s a fantastic mashup.
I only watched it a few months ago but now I feel like sticking it on again. I wish they would release it remastered in UHD Blu-ray with HDR.

It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best show ever.

As good as The Wire is, this still a notch above. Just a flawless show.

So, I am rewatching the CGI Lyvia episode. That was funny.

Also, dead Pussy in the mirror was weird.

They don’t have the makings of the varsity athletes.
.... just one of the many easter eggs in Many Saints this

And a pretty mad reveal too, that's kinda not too bad for the canon of it all

It's a decent watch, if you've seen the series. Not so much otherwise, better than the Breaking Bad film though, as a minor comparison for me.

fecking masterpiece.

gets funnier each time....

If you're a fan I recommend watching the Talking Sopranos podcast too. The stories, the banter, the chemistry between two friends is just too good.

I've just finished an entire run again and one thing I loved was how many killer one-liners AJ has, awkward silence around the dinner table and AJ pipes up.. "hey what did one prick say to the other prick?"

I also completely forgot about the whole "uncle junior goes down" story arc... and Tony's line absolutely killed me..

“Cunnilingus and psychiatry brought us to this”

Just started listening to Talking Sopranos, I fully recommend it too. Love the back stories and the little details they drop.

I've never seen this show but everyone always recommends it

How would you roughly describe what its about without huge spoilers (or things that aren't obvious anyway)

For example a quick brief of Breaking Bad for someone who hasn't watched it might be - Very talented scientist underachieves his whole life, gets cancer, with a baby on the way and a disabled son he needs money fast for their future, so he starts making meth. Then falls deeper and deeper into that World.

Mobster gets midlife crisis and has to deal with both his families evolving/changing. Just watch it and see for yourself if you like it. I wouldn't judge it on first episode though, if I remember correctly they told that one in a bit of a goofy way, but switched to a more serious style for the rest of the show.

Yeah in the pilot the tone is quite light.

Took me a while to finish season 1, but finally did last week.
Never really had a episode that finished with me dying to see what happened next.

Kinda slow burn season 1 if I could put it that way. Not sure what to make of it but will roll on to the next when I get a chance. I will say that the end of season 1 really started to get more serious so am interested in seeing how things go from here.

Will reserve any comparisons to The Wire for now till I go deeper into the series.

Season one is the worst imo. Keep at it and mid way through the second it really picks up

I felt the same way with S1. You grow and start to become part of the crew as a viewer the more you stick with it.

Never known Season 1 to get such bad press(for it's normally high standards as I appreciate you aren't slating it per say), outside of 'A Hit Is A Hit' of course.... I mean, I guess it's starting to get dated with being the 90's and Chase filming it at times with a more 60/70's touch. But the comedy seriously dries up afterwards, and maybe I missed the black comedy aspect of it, I dunno. It hits me straight off the spot though...think it's next to flawless outside of as already, the utterly useless and pretty much always skipped 'A Hit is a Hit'.... but season 2 and 3 are also utterly amazing too, so whatever. 4-5-6 too. Urgh

While Tony B is talking about his ambitious Korean boss, Paulie comes in with his incredible advice: "Word to the wise. Remember Pearl Harbor!" Not only does it not make sense, but Paulie confuses Koreans with the Japanese.
I couldn't stop laughing.

I stopped after season 3, didn't think the show was that great. Each to their own though.
