Fellaini re-signed last minute in blind panic. Every team around us improving and showing ambition. United stalling and falling further into mid table obscurity.

What can we expect?
A hell of a lot of stress. I might just ignore it. I presume now the season is over they can start things. Contracts are up to 30th June, Window opens 1st July. You could sign someone but they cannot be registered I think until the window opens.

We will make these supposedly 'smart' and english signings like Rice, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka and James. Then end up 7th.

Im sure Woodward would probably buy that window first for his office, visioning the idea of a calm, soothing, breeze wind, gently going over his face, reminiscing about his credentials in the commercial industry, while there is a mass protest of United fans going on outside of Old Trafford lead by Phelan in shorts, with Mourinho on the parking lot remembering fans of his second season here.

We will sign second tier prospects and probably around 2 consolidated medium-top class players which we will overpay of course.

I can’t see any top prospect or player attracted to come here without Champions league and under the current manager. We are just as appealing as Arsenal at the moment.

We can expect it to be as underwhelming as last regardless of how the tabloids will try and convince us otherwise

Honestly I expect Daniel James to be this summers Dalot, one 50m player and that be about it

We won’t be paying 50m for James

I’d pay that to get rid of a few though

Serious improvement needed in many areas of the team but it will not come cheap.

I think rice is nailed on to replace herrera, he fits the british young and hungry ethos and we will spend in excess of 40 mill on him.

I think we will got for eriksen from spurs too, replacing mata..ole really likes him and mentioned him several times as a class act.

No James will be the cheap signing for the future like Dalot was. The 50m player or this years Fred will be god knows who.

Those who think we'll finally address the RB, CB, RW and CM areas are in for a huge letdown

Not sure if anyone knows the answer as there are so many scenarios based on who we sell and how much we sell them for but roughly how much could we spend before we start sailing close to the wind in terms of being investigated for Financial Fair Play?

Someone remind me, did the rules change so teams can't transfer in players once the season starts... Or did I dream that?

The transfer window actually opens may 16th, but international transfers will first be possible at june 9th when the FIFA international window opens.
But many deals will first come through at july 1st for contractual reasons.

Yes, if I'm not mistaken the transfer window ends on the 9th of August and opens on the 16th of May.

They better have a pile of deals in the pipeline as it is a bit late to go on scouting missions now. Thanks for the information.:)

My hopes of seeing these shits leaving evaporated with Jose not being bothered with getting them out, I highly doubt Ole will get rid of them.

Same shit next season with the same players, sadly.

There's probably as much to be said for keeping the bulk of the squad, buying a couple of solid prem proven players, promoting a few kids, sacking off the EL, and putting all our eggs into the getting CL football basket next season, as there is going full on into the transfer window in such a position of weakness.

Also the other leagues' seasons end after our window opens - Bundesliga & La Liga 18th May, Ligue 1 24th May, Serie A 25th May so they'll be unlikely to be open to doing business until they're done.

Guaranteed there'll be loads upset if we haven't done a deal in the next 7 days, ignoring the above fact and Chelsea being the only team to have made a summer signing.

After this absolutely horrendous run we've had I expect the window to be a disastrous one. I was positive earlier thinking if we could finish 4th there might be a chance we have a good window ahead of us but now we are stuck with EL football, the same clueless people in charge of transfers that have failed miserably for the past six years accompanied by a manager that probably won't exactly be an attraction for top players. Window opens on thursday and ends August 8th.

I will be hugely upset if we haven’t got some players in by July 1st pre season, regardless of any of the top 5 having done business or not. Last summer was a shambles of a window followed by a shambles of a season, we are desperate for better players and the club can’t afford to feck about. Can the clubs hierarchy actually get this done in an efficient manner though, very doubtful.

Pulisic was signed in winter but because he's not playing there until next season, most people will call him a summer signing.

I'm confident we will.

I expect/hope us to sell/release 8 players. It's the absolute minimum in terms of outgoings. Also expect us to sign 2 midfielders (Tielemans and Rice would be a really good pair for a combined under 100m probably, which isn't awful) and a right back (Meunier, Cancelo, Wan Bissaka?) and that Daniel James guy. Ideal world would be a CB as well, but I don't think we'll get one. If Pogba goes, then we'll make an extra high profile signing.

So 4 in, 8 out, Greenwood, Gomes, Chong and Tuanzebe to replace the other squad player roles.

I have created a couple of ready made posts so that the more downbeat members of our community can save themselves time with a quick cut and paste

“Great, our rivals are all doing amazing business while we sit and do nothing”

“He’s completely average” (but if City or Liverpool are linked) “can’t believe we’re going to let City/Liverpool beat us to this guy”

“No way should we pay x for him. If it was y then I’d be okay with it”

“We shouldn’t sign x we should be signing y”

“Woodward needs to get to work”

“Woodward is a twat/god”

“Why would he want to sign for us”

Quite possibly the worst lineup ever posted on the caf
I have a weird feeling with no top 4 and a manager who the board can't fully trust yet, that spending will be tighter than hoped. Already Ole says he's gonna build the midfield around McTominay next season.

Pretty much this.

We might sign 3 or 4 average players to go with the rest and the season will be over before its begun.

Jose said it would be easier to start afresh with a completely new team (of course, not advisable to say publicly as United manager). That indicates to me that he would have preferred selling a host of them if he were then afforded the money to replace them with the required quality.
