I'm not suggesting a coup - I'm not even suggesting they go public with it - but at least Mattis could approach the white house in private and say the Pentagon has seen enough and that serious change needs to be come so POTUS stops undermining its mission to defend the United States.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a scenario that occurred during Nixon's last days, that his heavy drinking & depression moved the JCS to let SAC commanders to ignore any military directive from the White House, especially those involving the release of nuclear weapons.

How big is this? How many Republicans are actually going to turn on him and how many of his fanatics will actually care?

He’s got Republicans calling him treasonous. That seems pretty serious.

Finally had a break at work and been catching up with the news. Sucks when you're down under and all the shitstorms happen while you're asleep.

Hasn't there already been a shift in how Republicans view Russia or am I imagining that? After Trump became president, haven't they become more favourable towards Russia?
The next spin will be that Russia and Putin are not enemies or threats. The angry Dems are just portraying them negatively. Another WITCH HUNT!

In a few days it’ll blow over and back to business as usual.

All I see from Republicans are the usual ‘deeply concerned’.
Yep.

They like him. They're just aware there are times it's politically insane to express this and so they do their little show, so that others who like him but know he's indefensible can feel like they're somehow in opposition to his poison.

I'd bet the mortgage on it. Republican "outrage" will conveniently dwindle in the next day or two and it'll be back to goosestepping as usual.

They're all in too deep in this shitepool themselves to back up their bloviating.

Outrage, lol. The republican party are the biggest ***** on the planet. Trump waltzes in and humiliates every vacuous shell of a human they've spent the last 2 decades training the play president of america and they all line up, ready to kiss his crusty obese shithole time after time. Little Marco's shocked reaction today might as well have been "woah, I didn't say you could feck my wife twice"

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
I wonder if Ted Cruz lies awake all night thinking about those times Donald Trump called Cruz a liar, called his wife ugly, and insinuated that Cruz' father killed Lee Harvey Oswald. I guess it's hard to sleep when you're lying on the floor at the foot of Donald Trump's bed.

Mainly the contrast between his unbelievable inarticulacy and the fact he’s been able to achieve what he’s achieved. I’m not saying he’s a very intelligent man. Just not the complete half-wit you’d think he is from his incoherent ramblings.
So basically like most of organized crime members. Not exactly poetic or articulate or rocket scientists but know how to make a buck here and there while presenting a tough guy persona (though unlike organized criminals Trump is not tough at all).

The thing is ,a chunk of people who voted for Trump never signed up to this.
Honestly, feck em. I've met plenty and seen nonsense social media posts. Many are just vile cretins thinking everything is about their religious cult, their blinded loyalty to the GOP, or as long as it's not a Democrat/Commie/Socialist/insert other term, yadda yadda. They are responsible for what this nation will endure and many won't give a shit because they got their SCOTUS nominations, believe their god chose Trump, and all kinds of other blind bullshit. I'm disgusted with these fecks.

Dude just threw the entire American intelligence community under the bus infront of the Russian president. If there are any hawkish Republicans left, they'd resign in protest.
And if people really believe in that conspiracy about JFK, this is an example of when a POTUS pisses off a collective entity that can take a sitting president out.

If Congress had any balls and weren't so hellbent on destroying the nation with their right-wing bullshit, they'd be having impeachment hearings this minute. Or basically if the ruling party was the opposite party of a sitting president it would be curtains.

Who was the last president to just straight up piss on the US Intel community?

JFK?
Would Bush's outing of Plame count?

And some in the CIA were pissed at Bill Clinton's lack of action at times, or outright refusals supposedly. There's also a number of high ranking agents that were pissed off at Bush/Cheney clan's lack of interest in AQ back in early 2001.

So he’s trying to spin this as a brave, heroic stance...rather than the act of a coward who doesn’t have the strength of character to stand up and tell someone stronger than him what they have done wrong.

It’s been said before, but he is a bully. He has no problem picking on those he views as weaker than him, but he can’t stand up to someone who intimidated him.

The responses to the summit must be killing him - comments saying how weak he was would hit right at the heart of his inflated ego.

This cannot be allowed to blow over. He has already got his Fox interviews lined up - no doubt he will voice a false version of events, no doubt lying about how strong he was in their closed door meeting, and this will be replaced with what’s next.
