The Trump Presidency : Part 2

Those are just signals to the market, I thought they wanted this sort of thing, helps them set the market. Sure he gets paid out, but they get to lower the odds on all the things he bets on, so they both win.

Trump agrees nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia.

President Donald Trump has approved an agreement with Saudi Arabia that could potentially provide the kingdom with uranium enrichment capability for its civilian nuclear program, according to two people familiar with the matter.
The deal is expected to last 30 years and is also expected to involve U.S. firms in developing the program. The deal could allow for the building of a uranium enrichment facility in Saudi Arabia following a joint U.S.-Saudi study.

Can't wait for 20 years from now when our same government claims we need to invade SA because of their nuclear program.
The exact same thought. Not allowing one country but giving to another. Who’s to say that all of them Middle East are still allies in 20 years. After all, it’s them that’s taking the brunt of retaliation from Trumps war with Iran

What are the odds on Trump and his family buying stocks in whatever US company gets the deal just before it’s announced?

I listened to a guys theory yesterday

Trump provoked the war with Iran even though he knows it’s unwinnable, because it log jams the oil supply.

The global oil supply is about to run out. Crucial for everything including food production.

Meanwhile the US have huge supplies and oil fields.

They’ve taken Venezuelan oil. They want to take Canada too.

They’ve earmarked Greenland for taking raw materials from. He also tried to deal with Russia to take ukraines resources.

If the strait remains closed up, he thinks that the world will come desperately Looking to buy oil and other supplies from the US.

This fulfills his dream of separating the US from needing anyone, makes the country very rich and him and his friends too

I'd say if the above is true it's not Trump thinking this up but all those oligarchs and corporate vultures surrounding him and the GOP (and DNC as well). Trump goes along knowing he can enrich himself.

The obvious flaw with this is that it assumes that Trump has a strategy and long term thinking.

He doesn't. He's a reactive, shit throwing monkey who is obsessed with personal gain and dominating the news cycle.

This would work if US is immune to global oil prices. But they arent. Having a huge supply doesnt mean theyre ready for use at anytime. And oil price increase is almost always followed by goods prices going up. Hes actually making average americans poorer due to higher inflation which to be fair still at controllable level but still, pooper than if inflation was lower (pre war). Hence the flip flopping trying to control oil price and at the same time making his circle richer. But yea he fecked up. The war was gonna last for 4 weeks.

Exactly. He thought it would be over by now. They targeted a quick regime change win, but underestimated the enemy.

I've long since forgotten the source but I was sent something over a decade ago by an investment manager contact around oil. A load of papers on models and studies basically.

Effectively it mapped out that oil prices wouldn't drop into the 2020s and 2030s despite eventual drops in demand but instead explode. The reason being as you say the cost of extraction becoming unsustainable, lowered economies of scale, and geopolitical forces predictably curtailing supply.

I've been long on WTI oil several times and made a killing as the swings are predictable. When there's money to be made the lobbyist vultures will circle and it no doubt feeds into government policy.

Anyway I don't think it's a theory Trump has openly bragged about countries running to him to buy LNG.

Exactly. He thought it would be over by now. They targeted a quick regime change win, but underestimated the enemy.

He's a buffon. But the power behind him knows which banana to throw. That made him dangerous

I listened to some podcast that says and I'm freely paraphrasing, "most president dont know about everything and anything. They didnt know where Yemen is and what's the actual deal with them, other than what the briefing told him. At best it was subjective at worst it's manipulated to make him push certain button"

If his circle convince him such and such is a threat, he will pick the 3 options they create because he didnt know better

And we live in a different world with different optics. Sometimes when you're in charge you dont even know who's the honest guy and who's lying to you. They all sounds credible.

If the head of the CIA come up with top secret report that Russia is stealing an election by such and such. He will believe him. He is his buddy he shared coffee from wayyy back.

And the head of the CIA doesnt need to be evil, he just need to be slightly stupid and rely on his supervisor of analyst.

Not speaking about Trump but most presidents lives in their own bubble

More tarrifs incoming, he's determined to feck up the world economy.

Not much impact we can have except voting. To think otherwise is silly.
...that might be half the problem, you honestly think that's all you can do? Your hands are tied? I'm not going to get onto you, not my intention, but that's objectively wrong? I could give examples but should I have to at this stage?

There's no path of true effect thru local phone banking, canvassing, etc. (all f which I have done before especially in 2004) as the political climate is too statically polarized in my opinion. Sure there are independents but they seem to get swayed by 30K issues & vibes as was evidenced in 2024 which was disappointing. My ability to perform the same functions these days is limited due to work but, despite my attitude these days, I would do so again against the political currents & the scourge of social media. Thankfully I live in a blue district & purple-ish state so my inability to work the phones or doors doesn't irritate me too much. Just wished the work those on the left are doing during campaigning could truly effect change these days.

Fair enough I hear that and it's a good thing that you are motivated but please don't start to hold the belief that things like protest, unions, the court system and any other form of civil resistance is a fools errand.

Raise awareness in your circles too because as much as your current government and technocracy clearly wants to drive that feeling into the population you cant let them beat you, have to fight it or it doesn't matter if it's...
Not all of us.

Yeah, I am a little defeatist these days, hopefully November will light a spark in me.

MSNBC (now MS Now) is reporting that Trump is slowly preferring Vance over Rubio for 2028.

“It’s become, ‘JD’s our guy, we gotta help JD,’” said a senior administration official, one of several people who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations.

Trump Administration Admits Canceling Grants to States That Did Not Vote for Him

When the Trump administration canceled more than $7.5 billion in Biden-era federal grants for clean energy projects in October, it framed the move as an urgent corrective to protect taxpayer funds from waste.

But it wasn’t true.

In little-noticed court documents, federal officials acknowledged this month that they had terminated the funding “based solely” on political criteria, targeting projects in states that were represented by Democrats and had voted for Kamala Harris, the party’s presidential nominee, in the 2024 election.
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/07/24/...ants-canceled.html?smid=nytcore-android-share

so essentially they looked for the easiest way to "own the libs" without annoying red states that might be building energy projects that lowered power prices. They do not see themselves running a country, they seem themselves representing ideological factions.

So much has to get reversed after Trump is gone...

every decision by this admin has an underlying belief that everyone should suffer, because their beliefs are superior. There is a deep fatalism and/or negative nihilism that wants to hurt people which is masked by "saving" them. It's so disgusting.

Since the 90s when the GOP realised that education trended democrats, it has encouraged anti- rationalism, science and education. This is the fruit of it. Idiocracy by design.

Isaac Asimov in 1980: "There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

Although I suspect he'd be shocked at how much worse things have got since then, in America and across the western world.

It's way older than that. In the 1950s McCarthyism was extremely anti-intellectual and its why historian Richard Hofstadter wrote the Pulitzer winning Anti-Intellectualism in American Life in 1964. This Trump admin is much more blatant about it though than previous conservatives.
